1 N ow Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had brought back to life. He said, “Get ready and go with those of your house. Stay in whatever country you can. For the Lord has called for a time of no food. It will come upon the land for seven years.”

Habló Eliseo a aquella mujer a cuyo hijo él había resucitado, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa a vivir donde puedas; porque Jehová ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá sobre la tierra por siete años.

2 S o the woman got ready as the man of God had told her. She went with those of her house and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.

Entonces la mujer se levantó, e hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo; y se fue ella con su familia, y vivió en tierra de los filisteos siete años.

3 A t the end of seven years she returned from the land of the Philistines. And she went out to ask the king for her house and field.

Y cuando habían pasado los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos, y fue a apelar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras.

4 N ow the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

Estaba el rey hablando con Guejazí, criado del varón de Dios, a quien había dicho: Cuéntame todas las maravillas que hizo Eliseo.

5 G ehazi started telling the king how Elisha had brought the one who was dead to life again. Then the woman whose son he had brought back to life asked the king for her house and field. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman and this is her son, whom Elisha brought back to life.”

Y mientras él estaba contando al rey cómo había hecho vivir a un muerto, he aquí que la mujer, a cuyo hijo él había resucitado, vino para implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Guejazí: Rey señor mío, ésta es la mujer, y éste es su hijo, al cual Eliseo resucitó.

6 W hen the king asked the woman, she told him what had happened. So the king chose a certain captain to help her, saying, “Give her all that was hers. And give her all the food taken from the field from the day she left the land until now.” The Death of Ben-hadad

Y preguntando el rey a la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey ordenó a un oficial, al cual dijo: Hazle devolver todas las cosas que eran suyas, y todos los frutos de sus tierras desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora. Hazael reina en Siria

7 T hen Elisha came to Damascus. Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick, and he was told, “The man of God has come here.”

Eliseo se fue luego a Damasco; y Ben-adad rey de Siria estaba enfermo, al cual dieron aviso, diciendo: El varón de Dios ha venido aquí.

8 T he king said to Hazael, “Take a gift and go meet the man of God. Ask the Lord through him, saying, ‘Will I get better from this sickness?’”

Y el rey dijo a Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve a recibir al varón de Dios, y consulta por él a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?

9 S o Hazael went to meet Elisha and took with him a gift of every kind of good thing of Damascus. It took forty camels to carry it all. He came and stood in front of Elisha and said, “Your son Ben-hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I get better from this sickness?’”

Tomó, pues, Hazael en su mano un presente de entre los bienes de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y fue a su encuentro, y llegando se puso delante de él, y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad rey de Siria me ha enviado a ti, diciendo: ¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?

10 E lisha said to him, “Go and tell him, ‘You will get better for sure.’ But the Lord has shown me that he will die for sure.”

Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, y dile: No sobrevivirás. Pues Jehová me ha mostrado que de cierto morirá.

11 T hen Elisha looked at Hazael until he was ashamed. And the man of God cried.

Y el varón de Dios le miró fijamente, y estuvo así hasta hacerlo ruborizarse; luego lloró el varón de Dios.

12 H azael said, “Why are you crying, my lord?” Then Elisha answered, “Because I know the bad things that you will do to the people of Israel. You will set their strong places on fire. You will kill their young men with the sword. You will crush their little ones against the stones. And you will cut up their women who are with child.”

Entonces le dijo Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que harás a los hijos de Israel; a sus fortalezas pegarás fuego, a sus jóvenes matarás a espada, y estrellarás a sus niños, y abrirás el vientre a sus mujeres que estén encintas.

13 H azael said, “What is your servant, only a dog, that he should do this bad thing?” Elisha answered, “The Lord has shown me that you will be the king of Syria.”

Y Hazael dijo: Pues ¿es por ventura tu siervo algún perro, para que haga cosas tan enormes? Y respondió Eliseo: Jehová me ha mostrado que tú serás rey de Siria.

14 T hen he left Elisha and returned to his owner. Ben-hadad said to him, “What did Elisha tell you?” And Hazael answered, “He told me that you will get better for sure.”

Y Hazael se fue, y vino a su señor, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Y él respondió: Me dijo que seguramente sanarás.

15 B ut the next day Hazael took the bed covering and put it in water. Then he spread it on Ben-hadad’s face so that he died. And Hazael became king in his place. Jehoram Rules Judah

Al día siguiente tomó un paño y lo metió en agua, y lo puso sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, y murió; y reinó Hazael en su lugar. Reinado de Joram de Judá

16 I n the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to rule.

En el quinto año de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, y siendo Josafat rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joram hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.

17 H e was thirty-two years old when he became king. He ruled eight years in Jerusalem.

De treinta y dos años era cuando comenzó a reinar, y ocho años reinó en Jerusalén.

18 H e walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as those of Ahab’s house had done. Ahab’s daughter became his wife. He did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord.

Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab, porque una hija de Acab fue su mujer; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

19 B ut the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah, because of His servant David. The Lord had promised to give David one to rule through his sons always.

Con todo eso, Jehová no quiso destruir a Judá, por amor a David su siervo, porque había prometido darle lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

20 I n his days Edom turned against the rule of Judah and chose a king of their own.

En el tiempo de él se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre ellos.

21 T hen Joram crossed over to Zair, with all his war-wagons. He and his war-wagon captains got up during the night and fought against the Edomites who had gathered around them. But his army ran away to their tents.

Joram, por tanto, pasó a Zaír, y todos sus carros con él; y levantándose de noche atacó a los de Edom, los cuales le habían sitiado, y a los capitanes de los carros; y el pueblo huyó a sus tiendas.

22 S o Edom turned against the rule of Judah to this day. Libnah turned against Judah’s rule at the same time.

No obstante, Edom se libertó del dominio de Judá, hasta hoy. También se rebeló Libná en el mismo tiempo.

23 T he rest of the acts of Joram and all he did, are they not written in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Joram, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

24 T hen Joram died and was buried in the city of David. His son Ahaziah became king in his place. Ahaziah Rules Judah

Y durmió Joram con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David; y reinó en lugar suyo Ocozías, su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Judá

25 I n the twelfth year of Ahab’s son Joram the king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to rule.

En el año doce de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.

26 A haziah was twenty-two years old when he became king. He ruled one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

De veintidós años era Ocozías cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Atalía, hija de Omrí rey de Israel.

27 H e walked in the way of the family of Ahab. He did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord, like those of the family of Ahab had done, because he was a son-in-law of the family of Ahab.

Anduvo en el camino de la casa de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, como la casa de Acab; porque era yerno de la casa de Acab.

28 H e went with Ahab’s son Joram to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead. And the Syrians hurt Joram.

Y fue a la guerra con Joram hijo de Acab a Ramot de Galaad, contra Hazael rey de Siria; y los sirios hirieron a Joram.

29 S o King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the cuts the Syrians had given him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Then Jehoram’s son Ahaziah king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram the son of Ahab because he was sick.

Y el rey Joram se volvió a Jizreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le hicieron frente a Ramot, cuando peleó contra Hazael rey de Siria. Y descendió Ocozías hijo de Joram rey de Judá, a visitar a Joram hijo de Acab en Jizreel, porque estaba enfermo.
