1 “ The Lord your God will bring you into the land you are taking for your own. He will drive away many nations in front of you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations bigger and stronger than you.

Cuando Jehová tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra en la cual entrarás para tomarla, y haya echado de delante de ti a grandes naciones, a los hititas, al gergeseo, al amorreo, al cananeo, al ferezeo, al heveo y al jebuseo, siete naciones mayores y más poderosas que tú,

2 W hen the Lord your God gives them to you and you win the battles against them, you must destroy all of them. Make no agreement with them and show no favor to them.

y Jehová tu Dios las haya entregado delante de ti, y las hayas derrotado, las destruirás del todo; no harás con ellas alianza, ni tendrás de ellas misericordia.

3 D o not take any of them in marriage. Do not give your daughters to their sons. And do not take their daughters for your sons.

Y no emparentarás con ellas; no darás tu hija a su hijo, ni tomarás a su hija para tu hijo.

4 F or they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord will burn against you. And He will be quick to destroy you.

Porque desviará a tu hijo de en pos de mí, para servir a dioses ajenos; y el furor de Jehová se encenderá sobre vosotros, y os destruirá pronto.

5 B ut do this to them: Break down their altars. Crush their objects of worship. Cut down their female goddess Asherim. And burn their false gods with fire.

Mas así habéis de hacer con ellos: sus altares destruiréis, y quebraréis sus estatuas, y destruiréis sus imágenes de Aserá, y prenderéis fuego a sus ídolos. Un pueblo elegido debe ser santo

6 “ For you are a holy nation to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the nations on the earth, to be His own.

Porque tú eres pueblo santo para Jehová tu Dios; Jehová tu Dios te ha escogido para serle un pueblo especial, entre todos los pueblos que están sobre la tierra.

7 T he Lord did not give you His love and choose you because you were more people than any of the nations. For the number of your people was less than all nations.

No por ser vosotros más que todos los pueblos os ha querido Jehová y os ha escogido, pues vosotros erais el más insignificante de todos los pueblos;

8 B ut it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the promise He made to your fathers. So the Lord brought you out by a strong hand. He set you free from the land where you were servants, and from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

sino por el amor que Jehová os tiene, y porque quiso guardar el juramento que hizo a vuestros padres, os ha sacado Jehová con mano poderosa, y os ha rescatado de servidumbre, de la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto.

9 K now then that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God. He keeps His promise and shows His loving-kindness to those who love Him and keep His Laws, even to a thousand family groups in the future.

Conoce, pues, que Jehová tu Dios es el Dios verdadero, Dios fiel, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia a los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos, hasta mil generaciones;

10 B ut He destroys those who hate Him. He will not show kindness to the one who hates Him, but will punish him to his face.

y que da el pago en la cara al que le aborrece, destruyéndolo; y no es remiso con el que le odia; en su propia cara le dará el pago.

11 S o keep and obey all the Laws I am telling you today. Good Comes to Those Who Obey

Guarda, por tanto, los mandamientos, estatutos y decretos que yo te mando hoy que cumplas. Promesas a la obediencia

12 “ If you listen to these Laws and keep and obey them, the Lord your God will keep His agreement and loving-kindness as He promised to your fathers.

Pues por haber oído estos decretos, y haberlos guardado y puesto por obra, Jehová tu Dios guardará contigo el pacto y la misericordia que juró a tus padres.

13 H e will love you and bring good to you and make you a nation of many. He will bring good to your children and the fruit of your land, your grain, your new wine and your oil. And He will give you many cattle and young ones in your flock, in the land He promised to your fathers to give you.

Y te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará, y bendecirá el fruto de tu vientre y el fruto de tu suelo, tu grano, tu mosto, tu aceite, la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas, en la tierra que juró a tus padres que te daría.

14 M ore good will come to you than to any other nation. There will be no male or female among you or your cattle that is not able to have young ones.

Bendito serás más que todos los pueblos; no habrá en ti macho ni hembra estéril, ni en ti ni en tus ganados.

15 T he Lord will take all sickness from you. He will not let any bad diseases come upon you that you have known in Egypt. But He will give them to all who hate you.

Y quitará Jehová de ti toda enfermedad; y todas las malas plagas de Egipto, que tú conoces, no las pondrá sobre ti, antes las pondrá sobre todos los que te aborrezcan.

16 Y ou will destroy all the nations the Lord your God will give to you. You will not pity them or worship their gods, for that would be a trap to you.

Destruirás, pues, a todos los pueblos que te entrega Jehová tu Dios; no los perdonarás, ni servirás a sus dioses, porque ello sería un lazo para ti.

17 “ You may say in your heart, ‘These nations are stronger than I. How can I drive them out?’

Si dices en tu corazón: Estas naciones son mucho más numerosas que yo; ¿cómo voy a poder desalojarlas?,

18 B ut you will not be afraid of them. You will remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt.

no tengas temor de ellas; acuérdate bien de lo que hizo Jehová tu Dios con Faraón y con todo Egipto;

19 Y ou will remember the hard trials you saw, the powerful works, and the strong hand and powerful arm the Lord your God used to bring you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the nations who make you afraid.

de las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, y de las señales y milagros, y de la mano poderosa y el brazo extendido con que Jehová tu Dios te sacó; así hará Jehová tu Dios con todos los pueblos de cuya presencia tú temes;

20 A nd the Lord your God will send the hornet against them. Those who are left will hide themselves from you and be destroyed.

enviará incluso Jehová tu Dios avispas sobre ellos, hasta que perezcan los que queden y los que se hayan escondido de delante de ti.

21 Y ou will not be afraid of them. For the Lord your God is among you, a great and powerful God.

No desmayes delante de ellos, porque Jehová tu Dios está en medio de ti, Dios grande y temible.

22 T he Lord your God will drive away these nations in front of you one by one. You will not be able to destroy them in a short time, or the wild animals may become too many for you.

Y Jehová tu Dios echará a estas naciones de delante de ti poco a poco; no podrás acabar con ellas en seguida, para que las fieras del campo no se aumenten contra ti.

23 B ut the Lord your God will give them to you. He will bring much trouble upon them until they are destroyed.

Mas Jehová tu Dios las entregará delante de ti, y él las quebrantará con gran destrozo, hasta que sean destruidas.

24 H e will give their kings into your hand. And you will destroy their name from under heaven. No man will be able to stand in front of you until you have destroyed them.

Él entregará sus reyes en tu mano, y tú destruirás el nombre de ellos de debajo del cielo; nadie te hará frente hasta que los destruyas.

25 Y ou must burn with fire their objects of worship. Do not want the silver or gold that is on them, or take it for yourselves. It would be a trap to you, for it is a hated thing to the Lord your God.

Las esculturas de sus dioses quemarás en el fuego; no codiciarás plata ni oro de ellas para tomarlo para ti, para que no caigas en una trampa a causa de ello, pues son abominación a Jehová tu Dios;

26 D o not bring a hated thing into your house. You would become hated also. But turn from it with fear and hate, for bad will come from it.

y no traerás cosa abominable a tu casa, para que no seas anatema; del todo la aborrecerás y la abominarás, porque es anatema.
