1 A fter this Jesus went over to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. It is sometimes called Tiberias.

Después de esto, Jesús se fue al otro lado del mar de Galilea, el de Tiberias.

2 M any people followed Him. They saw the powerful works He did on those who were sick.

Y le seguía gran multitud, porque veían las señales que hacía en los enfermos.

3 J esus went up on a mountain and sat down with His followers.

Subió Jesús al monte, y se sentó allí con sus discípulos.

4 T he special religious supper to remember how the Jews left Egypt was soon.

Y estaba cerca la pascua, la fiesta de los judíos.

5 J esus looked up and saw many people coming to Him. He said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread to feed these people?”

Cuando alzó Jesús los ojos, y vio que había venido a él gran multitud, dijo a Felipe: ¿De dónde compraremos panes para que coman éstos?

6 H e said this to see what Philip would say. Jesus knew what He would do.

Pero decía esto para probarle; porque él sabía lo que iba a hacer.

7 P hilip said to Him, “The money we have is not enough to buy bread to give each one a little.”

Felipe le respondió: Doscientos denarios de pan no bastarán para que cada uno de ellos tome un poco.

8 O ne of His followers was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He said to Jesus,

Uno de sus discípulos, Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, le dijo:

9 “ There is a boy here who has five loaves of barley bread and two small fish. What is that for so many people?”

Aquí hay un muchacho, que tiene cinco panes de cebada y dos pececillos; pero ¿qué es esto para tantos?

10 J esus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was much grass in that place. About five thousand men sat down.

Entonces Jesús dijo: Haced recostar la gente. Y había mucha hierba en aquel lugar; y se recostaron como en número de cinco mil varones.

11 J esus took the loaves and gave thanks. Then He gave the bread to those who were sitting down. The fish were given out the same way. The people had as much as they wanted.

Tomó Jesús aquellos panes, y habiendo dado gracias, los repartió entre los discípulos, y los discípulos entre los que estaban recostados; asimismo de los peces, cuanto querían.

12 W hen they were filled, Jesus said to His followers, “Gather up the pieces that are left. None will be wasted.”

Y cuando se saciaron, dijo a sus discípulos: Recoged los pedazos que sobraron, para que no se pierda nada.

13 T he followers gathered the pieces together. Twelve baskets were filled with pieces of barley bread. These were left after all the people had eaten.

Recogieron, pues, y llenaron doce cestas de pedazos, que de los cinco panes de cebada sobraron a los que habían comido.

14 T he people saw the powerful work Jesus had done. They said, “It is true! This is the One Who speaks for God Who is to come into the world.” Jesus Walks on the Water

Aquellos hombres, entonces, viendo la señal que Jesús había hecho, dijeron: Éste es verdaderamente el profeta que había de venir al mundo.

15 J esus knew they were about to come and take Him to make Him king, so He went to the mountain by Himself.

Pero Jesús, conociendo que iban a venir para apoderarse de él y hacerle rey, volvió a retirarse al monte él solo. Jesucristo anda sobre el mar

16 W hen evening had come, His followers went down to the lake.

Al atardecer, descendieron sus discípulos al mar,

17 T hey got into a boat and started to cross the lake to go to the city of Capernaum. By this time it was dark. Jesus had not come back to them yet.

y entrando en una barca, iban cruzando el mar hacia Capernaúm. Había oscurecido ya, y Jesús no había venido a ellos.

18 A strong wind was making high waves on the lake.

Además, se levantaba el mar con un gran viento que soplaba.

19 T hey were about half way across the lake when they saw Jesus walking on the water. As He got near the boat, they were afraid.

Cuando habían remado como veinticinco o treinta estadios, vieron a Jesús que andaba sobre el mar y se acercaba a la barca; y tuvieron miedo.

20 B ut Jesus called to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Mas él les dijo: Yo soy; no temáis.

21 T hey were glad to take Him into the boat. At once they got to the other side where they wanted to go. Jesus Teaches Many People

Querían, pues, recogerlo en la barca; la cual llegó en seguida a la tierra adonde iban. La gente busca a Jesús

22 T he next day the people on the other side of the lake saw no other boat there but the one His followers had been in. The people knew Jesus had not gone with His followers in the boat because they had gone alone.

El día siguiente, la gente que se había quedado al otro lado del mar vio que no había habido allí más que una sola barca, y que Jesús no había entrado en ella con sus discípulos, sino que éstos se habían ido solos.

23 T here were other boats from Tiberias that had come near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

Pero otras barcas habían arribado de Tiberíades junto al lugar donde habían comido el pan después de haber dado gracias el Señor.

24 T he people saw that Jesus and His followers were not there. They got into boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.

Cuando vio, pues, la gente que Jesús no estaba allí, ni sus discípulos, entraron en las barcas y fueron a Capernaúm, buscando a Jesús. Jesucristo, el pan de vida

25 T he people found Him on the other side of the lake. They said to Him, “Teacher, when did You come here?”

Y hallándole al otro lado del mar, le dijeron: Rabí, ¿cuándo llegaste acá?

26 J esus said to them, “For sure, I tell you, you are not looking for Me because of the powerful works. You are looking for Me because you ate bread and were filled.

Respondió Jesús y les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo que me buscáis, no porque habéis visto señales, sino porque comisteis de los panes y os saciasteis.

27 D o not work for food that does not last. Work for food that lasts forever. The Son of Man will give you that kind of food. God the Father has shown He will do this.” Jesus Teaches about Doing the Work of God

Trabajad, no por la comida que perece, sino por la comida que permanece para vida eterna, la cual os dará el Hijo del Hombre; porque a éste acreditó con su sello Dios el Padre.

28 T hen the people said to Him, “What are the works God wants us to do?”

Entonces le dijeron: ¿Qué debemos hacer para poner en práctica las obras de Dios?

29 J esus said to them, “This is the work of God, that you put your trust in the One He has sent.”

Respondió Jesús y les dijo: Esta es la obra de Dios, que creáis en el que él ha enviado.

30 T hey said to Him, “Can You show us some powerful work? Then we can see it and believe You. What will You do?

Le dijeron entonces: ¿Qué señal, pues, haces tú, para que veamos, y te creamos? ¿Qué obra haces?

31 O ur early fathers ate bread that came from heaven in the desert. This happened as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Jesus Is the Bread of Life

Nuestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, como está escrito: Pan del cielo les dio a comer.

32 T hen Jesus said to the people, “For sure, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven. My Father gives you the true Bread from heaven.

Jesús, entonces, les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: No fue Moisés quien os dio el pan del cielo, sino que es mi Padre quien os da el verdadero pan del cielo.

33 T he Bread of God is He Who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Porque el pan de Dios es aquel que descendió del cielo y da vida al mundo.

34 T hey said to Him, “Sir, give us this Bread all the time.”

Le dijeron, pues: Señor, danos siempre este pan.

35 J esus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry. He who puts his trust in Me will never be thirsty.

Jesús les dijo: Yo soy el pan de la vida; el que a mí viene, nunca tendrá hambre; y el que en mí cree, no tendrá sed jamás.

36 I said to you that you have seen Me and yet you do not put your trust in Me.

Pero ya os dije que, aunque me habéis visto, no creéis.

37 A ll whom My Father has given to Me will come to Me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to Me.

Todo lo que el Padre me da, vendrá a mí; y al que a mí viene, de ningún modo le echaré fuera.

38 I came down from heaven. I did not come to do what I wanted to do. I came to do what My Father wanted Me to do. He is the One Who sent Me.

Porque he descendido del cielo, no para hacer mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió.

39 “ The Father sent Me. He did not want Me to lose any of all those He gave Me. He wants Me to raise them to life on the last day.

Y esta es la voluntad del Padre, que me envió: Que de todo lo que me ha dado, no pierda yo nada, sino que lo resucite en el último día.

40 H e wants everyone who sees the Son to put his trust in Him and have life that lasts forever. I will raise that one up on the last day.”

Y esta es la voluntad del que me ha enviado: Que todo aquel que ve al Hijo, y cree en él, tenga vida eterna; y yo le resucitaré en el último día.

41 T he Jews talked among themselves against Him. They did not like it because He said, “I am the Bread that came down from heaven.”

Murmuraban entonces de él los judíos, porque había dicho: Yo soy el pan que descendió del cielo.

42 T hey asked each other, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know His father and mother. How can He say, ‘I came down from heaven’ ?”

Y decían: ¿No es éste Jesús, el hijo de José, cuyo padre y madre nosotros conocemos? ¿Cómo, pues, dice éste: Del cielo he descendido?

43 J esus said to them, “Do not talk among yourselves against Me.

Jesús respondió y les dijo: No murmuréis entre vosotros.

44 T he Father sent Me. No man can come to Me unless the Father gives him the desire to come to Me. Then I will raise him to life on the last day.

Nadie puede venir a mí, si el Padre que me envió no le atrae; y yo le resucitaré en el último día.

45 T he early preachers wrote, ‘They will all be taught of God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to Me.

Escrito está en los profetas: Y serán todos enseñados por Dios. Así que, todo aquel que oyó al Padre, y aprendió de él, viene a mí.

46 N o one has seen the Father. I am the only One Who has seen Him.

No es que alguien haya visto al Padre, sino aquel que vino de parte de Dios; éste ha visto al Padre.

47 F or sure, I tell you, he who puts his trust in Me has life that lasts forever.

De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que cree en mí, tiene vida eterna.

48 I am the Bread of Life.

Yo soy el pan de la vida.

49 Y our early fathers ate bread that came from heaven in the desert. They died.

Vuestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, y murieron.

50 B ut this is the Bread that comes down from heaven. The one who eats it never dies.

Éste es el pan que desciende del cielo, para que coman de él y no mueran.

51 I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this Bread, he will live forever. The Bread which I will give is My flesh. I will give this for the life of the world.”

Yo soy el pan vivo que descendió del cielo; si alguien come de este pan, vivirá para siempre; y el pan que yo daré es mi carne, la cual yo daré por la vida del mundo.

52 T he Jews argued among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

Entonces los judíos contendían entre sí, diciendo: ¿Cómo puede éste darnos a comer su carne?

53 J esus said to them, “For sure, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in you.

Jesús les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: Si no coméis la carne del Hijo del Hombre, y bebéis su sangre, no tenéis vida en vosotros.

54 W hoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has life that lasts forever. I will raise him up on the last day.

El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, tiene vida eterna; y yo le resucitaré en el último día.

55 M y flesh is true food and My blood is true drink.

Porque mi carne es verdadera comida, y mi sangre es verdadera bebida.

56 W hoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me and I live in him.

El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, permanece en mi, y yo en él.

57 T he living Father sent Me and I live because of Him. In the same way, the one who eats Me will live because of Me.

Como me envió el Padre viviente, y yo vivo por medio del Padre, asimismo el que me come, él también vivirá por medio de mí.

58 I am this Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the bread that your early fathers ate and they died. Whoever eats this Bread will live forever.”

Éste es el pan que descendió del cielo; no como comieron vuestros padres el maná, y murieron; el que come de este pan, vivirá eternamente.

59 J esus said these things in the Jewish place of worship while He was teaching in the city of Capernaum. The Troubled Followers Leave Jesus

Estas cosas dijo en la sinagoga, enseñando en Capernaúm. Palabras de vida eterna

60 A fter hearing this, many of His followers said, “This teaching is too hard! Who can listen to it?”

Al oírlas, muchos de sus discípulos dijeron: Dura es esta palabra; ¿quién la puede oír?

61 J esus knew His followers talked against what He had said. He said to them, “Does this trouble you?

Sabiendo Jesús en sí mismo que sus discípulos murmuraban de esto, les dijo: ¿Esto os ofende?

62 T hen what would you say if you saw the Son of Man going up where He was before?

¿Pues qué, si vieseis al Hijo del Hombre subir adonde estaba primero?

63 I t is the Spirit that gives life. The flesh is of no help. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.

El espíritu es el que da vida; la carne no aprovecha para nada; las palabras que yo os he hablado son espíritu y son vida.

64 B ut some of you do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning who would not put their trust in Him. He knew who would hand Him over to the leaders of the country.

Pero hay algunos de vosotros que no creen. Porque Jesús sabía desde el principio quiénes eran los que no creían, y quién le había de entregar.

65 H e said, “That is why I told you no one can come to Me unless the Father allows it.”

Y siguió diciendo: Por eso os he dicho que nadie puede venir a mí, si no le ha sido dado del Padre.

66 F rom that time on, many of His followers turned back to their old ways of living. They would not go along with Him after that. Peter Knows Who Jesus Is

Desde entonces muchos de sus discípulos volvieron atrás, y ya no andaban con él.

67 T hen Jesus said to the twelve followers, “Will you leave Me also?”

Dijo entonces Jesús a los doce: ¿Queréis acaso iros también vosotros?

68 S imon Peter said to Him, “Lord, who else can we go to? You have words that give life that lasts forever.

Le respondió Simón Pedro: Señor, ¿a quién iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna.

69 W e believe and know You are the Christ. You are the Son of the Living God.”

Y nosotros hemos creído y conocemos que tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.

70 J esus said to them, “I chose you twelve as My followers. And one of you is a devil.”

Jesús les respondió: ¿No os he escogido yo a vosotros los doce, y uno de vosotros es diablo?

71 H e was speaking of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who was one of the twelve followers. He was ready to hand Jesus over to the leaders of the country.

Se refería a Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón; porque éste era el que le iba a entregar, siendo uno de los doce.
