1 S ee, the Lord will lay the earth waste. He will destroy it, turn its ground up-side-down, and send its people everywhere.

He aquí que Jehová vacía la tierra y la despuebla, y trastorna su haz, y hace esparcir a sus moradores.

2 W hat happens to the people will happen to the religious leader. What happens to the man servant will happen to his owner. The woman servant will be like her owner. The buyer will be like the seller. The giver will be like the receiver. The one who lets another use his money will be like the one who uses it.

Y sucederá así como al pueblo, también al sacerdote; como al siervo, así a su amo; como a la criada, a su ama; como al que compra, al que vende; como al que presta, al que toma prestado; como al deudor, así al acreedor.

3 A ll the earth will be laid waste and destroyed, for the Lord has said this.

La tierra será enteramente vaciada, y completamente saqueada; porque Jehová ha pronunciado esta palabra.

4 T he earth cries in sorrow and wastes away. The world becomes weak with sorrow and wastes away, together with the honored people of the earth.

La tierra estuvo de luto y se marchitó; enfermó, se amustió el mundo; se marchitaron los nobles del pueblo de la tierra.

5 T he earth has been made unclean by its people. They have sinned and not obeyed the laws, and have broken the agreement that was to be forever.

Y la tierra se contaminó bajo sus moradores; porque transgredieron las leyes, violaron el estatuto, quebrantaron el pacto sempiterno.

6 S o the earth is cursed and those who live in it suffer for their guilt. So the people of the earth are burned, and few men are left.

Por esta causa, la maldición consumió la tierra, ya que sus moradores fueron hallados culpables; por esta causa fueron consumidos los habitantes de la tierra, y disminuyeron los hombres.

7 T he new wine dries up and the vine wastes away. All the glad in heart are in sorrow.

Se perdió el vino, se marchitó la vid, gimieron todos los que eran de corazón alegre.

8 T he happiness of the music-makers stops. The noise of those filled with joy stops. The happiness of the harp stops.

Cesó el regocijo de los panderos, se acabó el estruendo de los que se regocijan, cesó la alegría del arpa.

9 T hey do not drink wine with singing. Strong drink tastes bad to those who drink it.

Ya no beberán vino cantando; el licor les sabrá amargo a los que lo beban.

10 T he city of trouble is broken down. Every house is shut up so no one may go in.

Quebrantada está la ciudad desolada; toda casa se ha cerrado, para que no entre nadie.

11 T here is a crying out in the streets about the wine. All joy turns to darkness. The happiness of the earth is gone.

Hay clamores por falta de vino en las calles; todo gozo se oscureció, se desterró la alegría de la tierra.

12 T he city is laid waste. The gate is broken to pieces.

La ciudad quedó desolada, y con ruina fue derribada la puerta.

13 F or this is how it will be on the earth among the nations. It will be like the shaking of an olive tree, and like what is left after the grapes have been gathered.

Pues así será en medio de la tierra, en medio de los pueblos, como olivo sacudido, como rebuscos después de la vendimia.

14 T hey raise their voices. They call out for joy. They cry out from the west about the wonderful power of the Lord.

Éstos alzarán su voz, cantarán gozosos; desde el mar aclamarán la majestad de Jehová.

15 S o honor the Lord in the east. Honor the name of the Lord God of Israel in the islands of the sea.

Glorificad por esto a Jehová en los lugares de la luz; en las orillas del mar sea exaltado el nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel.

16 F rom the ends of the earth we hear songs: “Praise the One Who is right and good.” But I say, “I waste away! I waste away! It is bad for me! The false ones are not faithful. Yes, their way is very false.”

De los últimos confines de la tierra oímos cánticos: Gloria al justo. Pero yo dije: ¡Mi desdicha, mi desdicha, ay de mí! Prevaricadores han prevaricado; y han prevaricado con prevaricación de traidores. El terremoto final

17 F ear and the deep hole and the trap are before you, O people of the earth.

Terror, foso y trampa contra ti, oh morador de la tierra.

18 H e who runs from the news of trouble will fall into a deep hole. And he who comes out of the hole will be caught in a trap. For the windows of heaven are opened, and the earth shakes.

Y acontecerá que el que huya del pánico, caerá en el foso; y el que salga de en medio del foso, será preso en la trampa; porque se abrirán las ventanas de lo alto, y temblarán los cimientos de la tierra.

19 T he earth is broken in pieces. The earth is torn apart. The earth is very shaken.

Será quebrantada del todo la tierra, enteramente desmenuzada será la tierra, en gran manera será la tierra sacudida.

20 T he earth turns from one side to the other side like a drunk man. It shakes like a tent because its sin is heavy upon it. It will fall, never to rise again.

Vacilará la tierra como un ebrio, y será removida como una choza; pues pesa sobre ella su pecado, y caerá, y nunca más se levantará.

21 I n that day the Lord will punish the powers of heaven above, and the kings of the earth below.

Acontecerá en aquel día, que Jehová castigará al ejército de los cielos en lo alto, y a los reyes de la tierra sobre la tierra.

22 T hey will be gathered together like those in a prison. They will be kept in a deep, dark prison, and after many days they will be punished.

Y serán amontonados como se amontona a los encarcelados en mazmorras, y en prisión quedarán encerrados, y serán castigados después de muchos días.

23 T hen the moon will be dark and the sun will not shine, for the Lord of All will rule on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem. And in front of His leaders, He will let His shining-greatness be seen.

La luna se avergonzará, y el sol se confundirá, cuando Jehová de los ejércitos reine en el monte de Sión y en Jerusalén, y delante de sus ancianos esté patente su Gloria.
