1 T hen the Word of the Lord came to me saying,

Vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

2 “ Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any wood of a branch among the trees?

Hijo de hombre, ¿qué es la madera de la vid más que cualquier otra madera? ¿Qué es el sarmiento entre los árboles del bosque?

3 C an wood be taken from it to make anything? Or can men take a piece of wood from it on which to hang a pot?

¿Sacarán de él madera para hacer alguna obra? ¿Harán de él una estaca para colgar en ella alguna cosa?

4 I f it has been put into the fire to burn, and the fire has burned up both of its ends, and the center of it is black from the fire, can it then be used for anything?

He aquí, que es echado al fuego para ser consumido; sus dos extremos consumió el fuego, y la parte de en medio se quemó; ¿servirá para obra alguna?

5 S ee, if it is not used for anything while it is whole, how much less can it ever be used for anything when the fire has burned it up and it has turned black!

He aquí que cuando estaba entero no servía para ninguna obra; ¿cuánto menos después que el fuego lo ha consumido, y está chamuscado, servirá más para obra alguna?

6 S o the Lord God says, ‘Like the wood of the vine among the trees, which I have given to be burned in the fire, so will I give up the people of Jerusalem.

Por tanto, así dice el Señor Jehová: Como la madera de la vid entre los árboles del bosque, la cual di al fuego para que la consumiese, así haré a los moradores de Jerusalén.

7 I will set My face against them. Even if they get away from the fire, the fire will yet destroy them. Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I set My face against them.

Y pondré mi rostro contra ellos; del fuego se escaparon, y el fuego los consumirá; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando ponga mi rostro contra ellos.

8 I will lay waste the land, because they have not been faithful,’” says the Lord God.

Y convertiré la tierra en asolamiento, por cuanto cometieron gran prevaricación, dice el Señor Jehová.
