1 I n the twenty-seventh year of King Jeroboam of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, began to rule.

2 A zariah was sixteen years old when he became king. And he ruled for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

3 A zariah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done.

5 S o the Lord sent trouble upon the king. Azariah had a bad skin disease to the day of his death, and he lived in a house alone. Jotham the king’s son ruled over the house, and judged the people of the land.

Mas Jehová hirió al rey con lepra, y estuvo leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en casa separada, y Jotam hijo del rey tenía el cargo del palacio, gobernando al pueblo.

10 T hen Shallum the son of Jabesh made plans against him and killed him in front of the people. And Shallum ruled in his place.

Contra él conspiró Salum hijo de Jabés, y lo hirió en presencia de su pueblo, y lo mató, y reinó en su lugar.

14 T hen Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah to Samaria, and killed Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and became king in his place.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; en todo su tiempo no se apartó de los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.

19 K ing Pul of Assyria came to fight against the land. And Menahem gave Pul silver weighing as much as 1, 000 men, that he might help him to be a powerful king.

Y vino Pul rey de Asiria a atacar la tierra; y Menahem dio a Pul mil talentos de plata para que le ayudara a confirmarse en el reino.

20 M enahem took the money from all the rich men of Israel. He took fifty pieces of silver from each man to pay the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria returned and did not stay there in the land.

E impuso Menahem este dinero sobre Israel, sobre todos los poderosos y opulentos; de cada uno cincuenta siclos de plata, para dar al rey de Asiria; y el rey de Asiria se volvió, y no se detuvo allí en el país.

25 T hen his captain Pekah the son of Remaliah made plans against him. He killed Pekahiah in Samaria, in the house of the king with Argob and Arieh. Fifty men of the Gileadites were with Pekah. He became king in his place.

Y conspiró contra él Peka hijo de Remalías, capitán suyo, y lo hirió en Samaria, en el palacio de la casa real, en compañía de Argob y de Aryé, y de cincuenta hombres de los hijos de los galaaditas; y lo mató, y reinó en su lugar.

28 P ekah did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel sin.

29 I n the days of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria came to fight. The king of Assyria took Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and all the land of Naphtali. And he made the people go with him to Assyria.

33 J otham was twenty-five years old when he became king. He ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de veinticinco años, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Jerusá hija de Sadoc.

34 J otham did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He did all that his father Uzziah had done.

Y él hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre Uzías.

35 B ut the high places were not taken away. The people still gave gifts and burned special perfume on the high places. Jotham built the upper gate of the house of the Lord.

Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados, porque el pueblo sacrificaba aún, y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos. Edificó él la puerta más alta de la casa de Jehová.

38 J otham died, and he was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. His son Ahaz became king in his place.

Y durmió Jotam con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre, y reinó en su lugar Acaz su hijo.
