1 T he Lord is my light and the One Who saves me. Whom should I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom should I be afraid?

O Senhor é a minha luz e a minha salvação; a quem temerei? O Senhor é a força da minha vida; de quem me recearei?

2 W hen sinful men, and all who hated me, came against me to destroy my flesh, they tripped and fell.

Quando os malvados investiram contra mim, para comerem as minhas carnes, eles, meus adversários e meus inimigos, tropeçaram e caíram.

3 E ven if an army gathers against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if war rises against me, I will be sure of You.

Ainda que um exército se acampe contra mim, o meu coração não temerá; ainda que a guerra se levante contra mim, conservarei a minha confiança.

4 O ne thing I have asked from the Lord, that I will look for: that I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to look upon the beauty of the Lord, and to worship in His holy house.

Uma coisa pedi ao Senhor, e a buscarei: que possa morar na casa do Senhor todos os dias da minha vida, para contemplar a formosura do Senhor, e inquirir no seu templo.

5 F or in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His holy tent. In the secret place of His tent He will hide me. He will set me high upon a rock.

Pois no dia da adversidade me esconderá no seu pavilhão; no recôndito do seu tabernáculo me esconderá; sobre uma rocha me elevará.

6 T hen my head will be lifted up above all those around me who hate me. I will give gifts in His holy tent with a loud voice of joy. I will sing. Yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

E agora será exaltada a minha cabeça acima dos meus inimigos que estão ao redor de mim; e no seu tabernáculo oferecerei sacrifícios de júbilo; cantarei, sim, cantarei louvores ao Senhor.

7 O Lord, listen to my cry. Show loving-kindness to me and answer me.

Ouve, ó Senhor, a minha voz quando clamo; compadece-te de mim e responde-me.

8 Y ou have said, “Look for My face.” My heart said to You, “O Lord, Your face will I look for.”

Quando disseste: Buscai o meu rosto; o meu coração te disse a ti: O teu rosto, Senhor, buscarei.

9 D o not hide Your face from me. Do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my Helper. Do not turn away from me or leave me alone, O God Who saves me!

Não escondas de mim o teu rosto, não rejeites com ira o teu servo, tu que tens sido a minha ajuda. Não me enjeites nem me desampares, ó Deus da minha salvação.

10 F or my father and my mother have left me. But the Lord will take care of me.

Se meu pai e minha mãe me abandonarem, então o Senhor me acolherá.

11 T each me Your way, O Lord. Lead me in a straight path, because of those who fight against me.

Ensina-me, ó Senhor, o teu caminho, e guia-me por uma vereda plana, por causa dos que me espreitam.

12 D o not give me over to the desire of those who hate me. For people who tell lies about me rise against me, and breathe a desire to hurt me.

Não me entregues ã vontade dos meus adversários; pois contra mim se levantaram falsas testemunhas e os que repiram violência.

13 I would have been without hope if I had not believed that I would see the loving-kindness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Creio que hei de ver a bondade do Senhor na terra dos viventes.

14 W ait for the Lord. Be strong. Let your heart be strong. Yes, wait for the Lord.

Espera tu pelo Senhor; anima-te, e fortalece o teu coração; espera, pois, pelo Senhor.
