1 T he Lord is my light and the One Who saves me. Whom should I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom should I be afraid?

Давидів. Господь моє світло й спасіння моє, кого буду боятись? Господь то твердиня мого життя, кого буду лякатись?

2 W hen sinful men, and all who hated me, came against me to destroy my flesh, they tripped and fell.

Коли будуть зближатись до мене злочинці, щоб жерти їм тіло моє, мої напасники та мої вороги, вони спотикнуться й попадають!...

3 E ven if an army gathers against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if war rises against me, I will be sure of You.

коли проти мене розложиться табір, то серце моє не злякається, коли проти мене повстане війна, я надіятись буду на те, на поміч Його!

4 O ne thing I have asked from the Lord, that I will look for: that I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to look upon the beauty of the Lord, and to worship in His holy house.

Одного прошу я від Господа, буду жадати того, щоб я міг пробувати в Господньому домі по всі дні свого життя, щоб я міг оглядати Господню приємність і в храмі Його пробувати!

5 F or in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His holy tent. In the secret place of His tent He will hide me. He will set me high upon a rock.

бо Він заховає мене дня нещастя в Своїй скинії, сховає мене потаємно в Своєму наметі, на скелю мене проведе!

6 T hen my head will be lifted up above all those around me who hate me. I will give gifts in His holy tent with a loud voice of joy. I will sing. Yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

А тепер піднесеться моя голова понад ворогами моїми навколо мене, і я в Його скинії буду приносити жертви при відзвуках сурм, і я буду співати та грати Господеві!

7 O Lord, listen to my cry. Show loving-kindness to me and answer me.

Почуй, Господи, голос мій, коли кличу, і помилуй мене, і озвися до мене!

8 Y ou have said, “Look for My face.” My heart said to You, “O Lord, Your face will I look for.”

За Тебе промовило серце моє: Шукайте Мого лиця! тому, Господи, буду шукати обличчя Твого:

9 D o not hide Your face from me. Do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my Helper. Do not turn away from me or leave me alone, O God Who saves me!

не ховай же від мене обличчя Свого, у гніві Свого раба не відкинь! Ти був мені поміч, не кидай мене, і не лишай мене, Боже спасіння мого,

10 F or my father and my mother have left me. But the Lord will take care of me.

бо мій батько та мати моя мене кинули, та Господь прийме мене!

11 T each me Your way, O Lord. Lead me in a straight path, because of those who fight against me.

Дорогу Свою покажи мені, Господи, і провадь мене стежкою рівною, ради моїх ворогів!

12 D o not give me over to the desire of those who hate me. For people who tell lies about me rise against me, and breathe a desire to hurt me.

Не видай мене на сваволю моїх ворогів, бо повстали на мене ті свідки облудні та неправдомовці,

13 I would have been without hope if I had not believed that I would see the loving-kindness of the Lord in the land of the living.

немов би не вірував я, що в країні життя я побачу Господнє добро!

14 W ait for the Lord. Be strong. Let your heart be strong. Yes, wait for the Lord.

Надійся на Господа, будь сильний, і хай буде міцне твоє серце, і надійся на Господа!
