1 J esus went on to the city of Jericho and was passing through it.

І, ввійшовши Ісус, переходив через Єрихон.

2 T here was a rich man named Zaccheus. He was a leader of those who gathered taxes.

І ось чоловік, що звався Закхей, він був старший над митниками, і був багатий,

3 Z accheus wanted to see Jesus but he could not because so many people were there and he was a short man.

бажав бачити Ісуса, хто Він, але з-за народу не міг, бо малий був на зріст.

4 H e ran ahead and got up into a sycamore tree to see Him. Jesus was going by that way.

І, забігши вперед, він виліз на фіґове дерево, щоб бачити Його, бо Він мав побіч нього проходити.

5 W hen Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw Zaccheus. He said, “Zaccheus, come down at once. I must stay in your house today.”

А коли на це місце Ісус підійшов, то поглянув угору до нього й промовив: Закхею, зійди зараз додолу, бо сьогодні потрібно Мені бути в домі твоїм!

6 A t once he came down and was glad to have Jesus come to his house.

І той зараз додолу ізліз, і прийняв Його з радістю.

7 W hen the people saw it, they began to complain among themselves. They said, “He is going to stay with a man who is known to be a sinner.”

А всі, як побачили це, почали нарікати, і казали: Він до грішного мужа в гостину зайшов!

8 Z accheus stood up and said to the Lord, “Lord, see! Half of what I own I will give to poor people. And if I have taken money from anyone in a wrong way, I will pay him back four times as much.”

Став же Закхей та й промовив до Господа: Господи, половину маєтку свого я віддам ось убогим, а коли кого скривдив був чим, верну вчетверо.

9 J esus said to him, “Today, a person has been saved in this house. This man is a Jew also.

Ісус же промовив до нього: Сьогодні на дім цей спасіння прийшло, бо й він син Авраамів.

10 F or the Son of Man came to look for and to save from the punishment of sin those who are lost.” The Picture-Story of the Ten Servants and the Money

Син бо Людський прийшов, щоб знайти та спасти, що загинуло!

11 A s they heard these things, Jesus told them a picture-story. Because He was near Jerusalem, they thought the holy nation of God would come at once.

Коли ж вони слухали це, розповів Він іще одну притчу, бо Він був недалеко від Єрусалиму, вони ж думали, що об'явиться Боже Царство тепер.

12 S o Jesus said, “A leader of a country went to another country far away. A nation was to be given to him, then he would return home.

Отож Він сказав: Один чоловік, роду славного, відправлявся в далеку країну, щоб царство прийняти й вернутись.

13 H e called ten of the servants he owned. He gave them ten pieces of money and said to them, ‘Put this money to use until I return.’

І покликав він десятьох своїх рабів, дав їм десять мін, і сказав їм: Торгуйте, аж поки вернуся.

14 B ut other men in his country hated him. They sent men after him to tell him they did not want him as their king.

Та його громадяни його ненавиділи, і послали посланців услід за ним, кажучи: Не хочемо, щоб він був над нами царем.

15 A fter he had been given the other nation, he returned as king. He asked for his servants who had received the money to come to him. He wanted to know how much more they had after putting it to use.

І сталось, коли він вернувся, як царство прийняв, то звелів поскликати рабів, яким срібло роздав, щоб довідатися, хто що набув.

16 T he first one came and said, ‘Lord, the piece of money you gave me has made ten more pieces of money.’

І перший прийшов і сказав: Пане, міна твоя принесла десять мін.

17 H e said to him, ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful in using a little. Now you will be leader over ten cities.’

І відказав він йому: Гаразд, рабе добрий! Ти в малому був вірний, володій десятьма містами.

18 “ The second man came to him and said, ‘Lord, the piece of money you gave me has made five more pieces of money.’

І другий прийшов і сказав: Пане, твоя міна п'ять мін принесла.

19 H e said to him, ‘You are to be leader over five cities.’

Він же сказав і тому: Будь і ти над п'ятьма містами.

20 “ Another one came saying, ‘Lord, look! Here is your piece of money. I have kept it hid in a piece of cloth.

І ще інший прийшов і сказав: Пане, ось міна твоя, що я мав її сховану в хустці.

21 I was afraid of you. You are a hard man. You take what you have not put down. You gather where you have not planted.’

Я бо боявся тебе, ти ж бо людина жорстока: береш, чого не поклав, і жнеш, чого не посіяв.

22 T he king said to him, ‘By the words from your own mouth I must say that you are guilty. You are a sinful servant. You knew I was a hard man. You knew I take what I have not put down. You knew I gather where I have not planted.

І відказав той йому: Устами твоїми, злий рабе, суджу я тебе! Ти знав, що я жорстока людина, беру, чого не поклав, і жну, чого не посіяв.

23 W hy did you not put my money in the bank? Then when I came back I could have had my own money and what the bank paid for using it.’

Чому ж не віддав ти міняльникам срібла мого, і я, повернувшись, узяв би своє із прибутком?

24 “ Then he said to those who were standing by, ‘Take the piece of money from him and give it to the one who has ten pieces of money.’

І сказав він присутнім: Візьміть міну від нього, та дайте тому, хто десять мін має.

25 A nd they said to him, ‘Lord, he already has ten pieces of money.’”

І відказали йому: Пане, він десять мін має.

26 J esus said, “I tell you, he who has, to him will be given more. To him who does not have, even the little he has will be taken from him.

Говорю бо я вам: Кожному, хто має, то дасться йому, хто ж не має, забереться від нього і те, що він має.

27 ‘ Bring here those who hated me and did not want me to be their king and kill them in front of me.’”

А тих ворогів моїх, які не хотіли, щоб царював я над ними, приведіте сюди, і на очах моїх їх повбивайте.

28 W hen He had finished the picture-story, He went on ahead of them up to Jerusalem. The Last Time Jesus Goes into Jerusalem

А як це оповів, Він далі пішов, простуючи в Єрусалим.

29 W hen Jesus was coming near the towns of Bethphage and Bethany by the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His followers on ahead.

І ото, як наблизився до Вітфагії й Віфанії, на горі, що Оливною зветься, Він двох учнів послав,

30 H e said, “Go into the town ahead of you. There you will find a young donkey tied. No man has ever sat on it. Let it loose and bring it to Me.

наказуючи: Ідіть у село, яке перед вами; увійшовши до нього, знайдете прив'язане осля, що на нього ніколи ніхто із людей не сідав. Відв'яжіть його, і приведіть.

31 I f anyone asks you, ‘Why are you letting it loose?’ say to him, ‘Because the Lord needs it.’”

Коли ж вас хто спитає: Нащо відв'язуєте?, відкажіть тому так: Господь потребує його.

32 T hose who were sent found everything as Jesus had told them.

Посланці ж відійшли, і знайшли, як Він їм був сказав.

33 A s they were letting the young donkey loose, the owners said to them, “Why are you letting the young donkey loose?”

А коли осля стали відв'язувати, хазяї його їх запитали: Нащо осля ви відв'язуєте?

34 T hey answered, “The Lord needs it.”

Вони ж відказали: Господь потребує його.

35 T hen they brought it to Jesus. They put their coats on the donkey and they put Jesus on it.

І вони привели до Ісуса його, і, поклавши одежу свою на осля, посадили Ісуса.

36 A s Jesus was going, they put their coats down on the road.

Коли ж Він їхав, вони простилали одежу свою по дорозі.

37 J esus was near the city and ready to go down the Mount of Olives. The many people who were following Him began to sing with loud voices and give thanks for all the powerful works they had seen.

А як Він наближався вже до сходу з гори Оливної, то ввесь натовп учнів, радіючи, почав гучним голосом Бога хвалити за всі чуда, що бачили,

38 T hey said, “Great and honored is the King Who comes in the name of the Lord. There is peace and greatness in the highest heaven.”

кажучи: Благословенний Цар, що йде у Господнє Ім'я! Мир на небесах, і слава на висоті!

39 S ome of the proud religious law-keepers who were in among the people said to Jesus, “Teacher, speak sharp words to Your followers.”

А деякі фарисеї з народу сказали до Нього: Учителю, заборони Своїм учням!

40 J esus said to them, “I tell you that if these did not speak, the very stones would call out.” Jesus Cried as He Saw Jerusalem

А Він їм промовив у відповідь: Кажу вам, що коли ці замовкнуть, то каміння кричатиме!

41 W hen Jesus came near the city, He cried as He saw it.

І коли Він наблизився, і місто побачив, то заплакав за ним,

42 H e said, “If you had only known on this great day the things that make peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

і сказав: О, якби й ти хоч цього дня пізнало, що потрібне для миру тобі! Та тепер від очей твоїх сховане це.

43 T he time is coming when those who hate you will dig earth and throw it up around you making a wall. They will shut you in from every side.

Бо прийдуть на тебе ті дні, і твої вороги тебе валом оточать, і обляжуть тебе, і стиснуть тебе звідусюди.

44 T hey will destroy you and your children with you. There will not be one stone on another. It is because you did not know when God visited you.” Jesus Stops the Buying and Selling in the House of God

І зрівняють з землею тебе, і поб'ють твої діти в тобі, і не позоставлять у тобі каменя на камені, бо не зрозуміло ти часу відвідин твоїх...

45 J esus went into the house of God. He made those leave who were buying and selling there.

А коли Він у храм увійшов, то почав виганяти продавців,

46 H e said to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer.’ ‘But you have made it a place of robbers.’”

до них кажучи: Написано: Дім Мій дім молитви, а ви з нього зробили печеру розбійників.

47 J esus taught each day in the house of God. But the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law and other leaders of the people tried to think of some way they could kill Him.

І Він кожного дня у храмі навчав. А первосвященики й книжники й найважніші з народу шукали, щоб Його погубити,

48 T hey could not find a way because the people were always near Him listening to Him teach.

але не знаходили, що вчинити Йому, бо ввесь народ горнувся до Нього та слухав Його.
