1 R euben was the first-born son of Israel but because he sinned against his father’s marriage bed, his birth-right was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel. Reuben is not written down in the family names by his birth-right.

2 J udah became stronger than his brothers, and a prince came from him. But the birth-right belonged to Joseph.

Бо Юда став найсильнішим серед братів своїх, і князем, сильнішим від нього, а перворідство дісталося Йосипові.

3 T he sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.

Сини Рувима, Ізраїлевого первородженого: Ханох і Паллу, Хецрон і Кармі.

4 T he sons of Joel were Shemaiah, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

Йоїлові сини: Шемая син його, його син Ґоґ, син його Шім'ї,

5 M icah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

6 a nd Beerah his son. Beerah was the one whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria carried away to a strange land. He was a leader of the Reubenites.

А на схід він сидів аж до виходу на пустиню від річки Ефрат, бо їхні череди в ґілеадському краї стали численні.

10 I n the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites and killed them. So they lived in their tents over all the land east of Gilead. The Family of Gad

А за Саулових днів вони провадили війну з агарянами, і ті впали в їхні руки, а вони сиділи в їхніх наметах на всім просторі на схід від Ґілеаду.

11 T he sons of Gad lived beside them in the land of Bashan as far as Salecah.

12 J oel was the leader. Then there was Shapham, then Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan.

Йоїл голова, а Шафам другий, і Янай, і Шафат у Башані.

13 T heir seven brothers of their fathers’ houses were Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber.

А їхні браття за домами своїх батьків: Михаїл, і Мешуллам, і Шева, і Йорай, і Якан, і Зія, і Евер, семеро.

14 T hese were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz.

Оце сини Авіхаїла, сина Хурі, сина Яроаха, сина Ґілеада, сина Михаїла, сина Єшішая, сина Єхдо, сина Буза.

15 A hi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was head of their fathers’ houses.

Ахі, син Авдіїла, сина Ґунієвого, голови дому батьків їх.

16 T hey lived in Gilead, in Bashan and its towns, and in all the fields of Sharon as far as they go.

І сиділи вони в Ґілеаді, в Башані та в залежних від нього містах, та в усіх пасовиськах Шарону, на місцях виходу їх.

17 A ll of these were added to the family names in the days of King Jotham of Judah and King Jeroboam of Israel.

Усі вони були переписані в днях Йотама, Юдиного царя, та в днях Єровоама, царя Ізраїлевого.

18 T he sons of Reuben, the Gadites and the half-family group of Manasseh were powerful soldiers. They carried the battle-covering and the sword, and shot with the bow. They were able men in battle. There were 44, 760 of them who went to war.

Синів Рувима, і ґадян, і половини Манасіїного племени, людей військових, що носять щита й меча та натягують лука, та випрактикуваних у війні було сорок і чотири тисячі і сім сотень і шістдесят, що виходили з військом.

19 T hey made war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab.

І провадили вони війну з агарянами, і з Ітуром, і з Нафішем, і з Нодавом.

20 T hey were given help against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hand. They cried out to God in the battle. He gave them what they asked for, because they trusted in Him.

І дана була їм поміч на них, і віддані були в їхню руку ті агаряни та всі, що з ними, бо вони кликали до Бога в бою, і Він був ублаганий, бо вони надіялися на Нього.

21 T hey took away their animals, 50, 000 camels, 250, 000 sheep, 2, 000 donkeys, and 100, 000 men.

І вони зайняли їхні череди: їхніх верблюдів п'ятдесят тисяч, і дрібної худоби двісті й п'ятдесят тисяч, і ослів дві тисячі, а людських душ сто тисяч.

22 M any were killed, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until they were taken away by Assyria. The Family of Manasseh East of the Jordan River

Бо трупів попадало багато, бо від Бога була ця війна. І сиділи вони на своєму місці аж до неволі.

23 T he sons of the half-family group of Manasseh lived in the land. There were many of them from Bashan to Baal-hermon, Senir and Mount Hermon.

А сини половини Манасіїного племени сиділи в краю від Башану аж до Баал-Хермону й Сеніру та гори Гермону. Вони розмножилися.

24 T he heads of their fathers’ houses were Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were powerful soldiers, men whose names were well-known. And they were heads of their fathers’ houses.

А оце голови домів їхніх батьків: і Ефер, і Їш'ї, і Еліїл, і Азріїл, і Їрмея, і Годавія, і Яхдіїл, мужі відважні, мужі славні, голови домів їхніх батьків.

25 B ut they sinned against the God of their fathers. They sold themselves to the gods of the people of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.

Та спроневірилися вони Богові своїх батьків, і блудили за богами народів Краю, яких Бог вигубив перед ними.

26 S o the God of Israel moved the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, also known as Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria. And he carried the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-family group of Manasseh away to a strange land. He brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan. And they are there to this day.

І Бог Ізраїлів збудив духа Пула, царя асирійського, і духа Тілленат-Піл'несера, царя асирійського, і він виселив їх, Рувимівців і Ґадівців та половину Манасіїного племени, і запровадив їх у Халах, і Хавор, і Хару, та до річки Ґозан, і вони там аж до цього дня.
