1 J esus was led by the Holy Spirit to a desert. There He was tempted by the devil.

Потому Ісус був поведений Духом у пустиню, щоб диявол Його спокушав.

2 J esus went without food for forty days and forty nights. After that He was hungry.

І постив Він сорок день і сорок ночей, а вкінці зголоднів.

3 T he devil came tempting Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to be made into bread.”

І ось приступив до Нього спокусник, і сказав: Коли Ти Син Божий, скажи, щоб каміння це стало хлібами!

4 B ut Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man is not to live on bread only. Man is to live by every word that God speaks.’”

А Він відповів і промовив: Написано: Не хлібом самим буде жити людина, але кожним словом, що походить із уст Божих.

5 T hen the devil took Jesus up to Jerusalem, the holy city. He had Jesus stand on the highest part of the house of God.

Тоді забирає диявол Його в святе місто, і ставить Його на наріжника храму,

6 T he devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. It is written, ‘He has told His angels to look after You. In their hands they will hold You up. Then Your foot will not hit against a stone.’”

та й каже Йому: Коли Ти Син Божий, то кинься додолу, бож написано: Він накаже про Тебе Своїм Анголам, і вони на руках понесуть Тебе, щоб об камінь коли не спіткнув Ти Своєї ноги.

7 J esus said to the devil, “It is written also, ‘You must not tempt the Lord your God.’”

Ісус відказав йому: Ще написано: Не спокушуй Господа Бога свого!

8 A gain the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain. He had Jesus look at all the nations of the world to see how great they were.

Знов диявол бере Його на височезную гору, і показує Йому всі царства на світі та їхнюю славу,

9 H e said to Jesus, “I will give You all these nations if You will get down at my feet and worship me.”

та й каже до Нього: Це все Тобі дам, якщо впадеш і мені Ти поклонишся!

10 J esus said to the devil, “Get away, Satan. It is written, ‘You must worship the Lord your God. You must obey Him only.’”

Тоді каже до нього Ісус: Відійди, сатано! Бож написано: Господеві Богові своєму вклоняйся, і служи Одному Йому!

11 T hen the devil went away from Jesus. Angels came and cared for Him. Jesus Preaches in Galilee

Тоді позоставив диявол Його. І ось Анголи приступили, і служили Йому.

12 W hen Jesus heard that John the Baptist had been put in prison, He went to the country of Galilee.

Як довідавсь Ісус, що Івана ув'язнено, перейшов у Галілею.

13 H e left Nazareth and went to live in the city of Capernaum. It is by the lake in the land of Zebulun and Naphtali.

І, покинувши Він Назарета, прийшов й оселився в Капернаумі приморськім, на границі країн Завулонової й Нефталимової,

14 T his happened as the early preacher Isaiah said it would happen. He said,

щоб справдилось те, що сказав був Ісая пророк, промовляючи:

15 “ The land of Zebulun and Naphtali is along the road to the lake. It is on the other side of the Jordan River in Galilee. These people are not Jews.

Завулонова земле, і Нефталимова земле, за Йорданом при морській дорозі, Галілеє поганська!

16 T he people who sat in darkness saw a great light. Light did shine on those in the land who were near death.”

Народ, що в темноті сидів, світло велике побачив, а тим, хто сидів у країні смертельної тіні, засяяло світло.

17 F rom that time on, Jesus went about preaching. He said, “Be sorry for your sins and turn from them. The holy nation of heaven is near.” Jesus Calls Peter and Andrew

Із того часу Ісус розпочав проповідувати й промовляти: Покайтеся, бо наблизилось Царство Небесне!

18 J esus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers. They were Simon (his other name was Peter) and Andrew, his brother. They were putting a net into the sea for they were fishermen.

Як проходив же Він поблизу Галілейського моря, то побачив двох братів: Симона, що зветься Петром, та Андрія, його брата, що невода в море закидали, бо рибалки були.

19 J esus said to them, “Follow Me. I will make you fish for men!”

І Він каже до них: Ідіть за Мною, Я зроблю вас ловцями людей!

20 A t once they left their nets and followed Him.

І вони зараз покинули сіті, та й пішли вслід за Ним.

21 G oing from there, Jesus saw two other brothers. They were James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were sitting in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus called them.

І, далі пішовши звідти, Він побачив двох інших братів, Зеведеєвого сина Якова та Івана, його брата, із Зеведеєм, їхнім батьком, що лагодили свого невода в човні, і покликав Він їх.

22 A t once they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus. Jesus Keeps On Preaching in Galilee

Вони зараз залишили човна та батька свого, та й пішли вслід за Ним.

23 J esus went over all Galilee. He taught in their places of worship and preached the Good News of the holy nation. He healed all kinds of sickness and disease among the people.

І ходив Він по всій Галілеї, по їхніх синагогах навчаючи, та Євангелію Царства проповідуючи, і вздоровлюючи всяку недугу, і всяку неміч між людьми.

24 T he news about Him went over all the country of Syria. They brought all the sick people to Him with many kinds of diseases and pains. They brought to Him those who had demons. They brought those who at times lose the use of their minds. They brought those who could not use their hands and legs. He healed them.

А чутка про Нього пішла по всій Сирії. І водили до Нього недужих усіх, хто терпів на різні хвороби та муки, і біснуватих, і сновид, і розслаблених, і Він їх уздоровляв.

25 M any people followed Him from Galilee and Judea. They followed Him from the cities of Decapolis and Jerusalem. They followed Him from Judea and from the other side of the Jordan River.

І багато людей ішло за Ним і з Галілеї, і з Десятимістя, і з Єрусалиму, і з Юдеї, і з Зайордання.
