1 N ow the whole earth used the same language and the same words.

2 I t came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.

Двигаясь к востоку, люди вышли на равнину в Шинаре и поселились там.

3 T hey said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.

Они сказали друг другу: – Давайте сделаем кирпичи и обожжем их получше. Кирпичи у них были вместо камня и смола вместо известкового раствора.

4 T hey said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

Потом они сказали: – Давайте построим себе город с башней до небес, чтобы прославить свое имя и не рассеяться по всей земле.

5 T he Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

Господь сошел посмотреть на город и башню, которые строили люди,

6 T he Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.

и сказал: – Все люди – один народ и у них один язык; вот они и затеяли такое; теперь не будет для них ничего невозможного.

7 C ome, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”

Сойдем же и смешаем им язык, чтобы они перестали понимать друг друга.

8 S o the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city.

И Господь рассеял их оттуда по всему свету, и они перестали строить тот город.

9 T herefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth. Descendants of Shem

Вот почему он был назван Вавилон – ведь Господь смешал там язык всего мира. Оттуда Господь рассеял их по лицу всей земли. Потомки от Сима до Аврама (1 Пар. 1: 24-27)

10 T hese are the records of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old, and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood;

Вот родословие Сима. Симу было сто лет, когда у него родился Арпахшад, через два года после потопа.

11 a nd Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Арпахшада Сим жил 500 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

12 A rpachshad lived thirty-five years, and became the father of Shelah;

Когда Арпахшад прожил 35 лет, у него родился Шелах.

13 a nd Arpachshad lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Shelah, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Шелаха Арпахшад жил 403 года, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

14 S helah lived thirty years, and became the father of Eber;

Когда Шелах прожил 30 лет, у него родился Евер.

15 a nd Shelah lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Eber, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Евера, Шелах жил 403 года, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

16 E ber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg;

Когда Евер прожил 34 года, у него родился Пелег.

17 a nd Eber lived four hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Peleg, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Пелега Евер жил 430 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

18 P eleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu;

Когда Пелег прожил 30 лет, у него родился Реу.

19 a nd Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he became the father of Reu, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Реу Пелег жил 209 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

20 R eu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug;

Когда Реу прожил 32 года, у него родился Серуг.

21 a nd Reu lived two hundred and seven years after he became the father of Serug, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Серуга Реу жил 207 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

22 S erug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor;

Когда Серуг прожил 30 лет, у него родился Нахор.

23 a nd Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Нахора Серуг жил 200 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

24 N ahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah;

Когда Нахор прожил 29 лет, у него родился Терах.

25 a nd Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he became the father of Terah, and he had other sons and daughters.

После рождения Тераха Нахор жил 119 лет, и у него были еще сыновья и дочери.

26 T erah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

После того, как Терах прожил 70 лет, у него родились Аврам, Нахор и Аран. Родословие Тераха и его переселение с Халдейской земли в Аран

27 N ow these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran; and Haran became the father of Lot.

Вот родословие Тераха. У Тераха родились Аврам, Нахор и Аран. У Арана родился Лот.

28 H aran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

Когда его отец Терах был еще жив, Аран умер в Уре Халдейском, в земле, где он родился.

29 A bram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah.

Аврам и Нахор взяли себе жен. Жену Аврама звали Сара, а жену Нахора – Милка, она была дочерью Арана, отца Милки и Иски.

30 S arai was barren; she had no child.

Сара была бесплодна, и у нее не было детей.

31 T erah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans in order to enter the land of Canaan; and they went as far as Haran, and settled there.

Терах взял своего сына Аврама, своего внука Лота, сына Арана, и свою невестку Сару, жену Аврама, и вместе они отправились из Ура Халдейского в Ханаан. Но, дойдя до Харрана, они поселились там.

32 T he days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

Терах жил двести пять лет и умер в Харране.
