1 M y son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;

2 S o as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

така че да отвориш ухото си към мъдростта и да предадеш сърцето си на разума,

3 Y ea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;

ако призовеш благоразумието и издигнеш гласа си към разума,

4 I f thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:

ако го издирваш като сребро и го потърсиш като скрити съкровища,

5 T hen shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

тогава ще разбереш страха от Господа и ще намериш познанието на Бога.

6 F or Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding:

Защото Господ дава мъдрост, от устата Му излизат знание и разум.

7 H e layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

Той запазва истинска мъдрост за праведните, щит е за ходещите в незлобие,

8 T hat he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints.

за да защитава пътищата на правосъдието и да пази пътя на светиите Си.

9 T hen shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, yea, every good path.

Тогава ще разбереш правда, правосъдие, правдивост, да! И всеки добър път.

10 F or wisdom shall enter into thy heart, And knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;

Защото мъдрост ще влезе в сърцето ти, знание ще услажда душата ти,

11 D iscretion shall watch over thee; Understanding shall keep thee:

разсъждение ще те пази, благоразумие ще те закриля,

12 T o deliver thee from the way of evil, From the men that speak perverse things;

за да те избави от пътя на злото, от човек, който говори извратено -

13 W ho forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

от онези, които оставят пътищата на правотата, за да ходят по пътищата на тъмнината,

14 W ho rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;

на които прави удоволствие да вършат зло и се радват на извратеността на злите,

15 W ho are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:

чиито пътища са криви и пътеките им опаки;

16 T o deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

за да те избави от чужда жена, от чужда, която ласкае с думите си,

17 T hat forsaketh the friend of her youth, And forgetteth the covenant of her God:

която е оставила другаря на младостта си и е забравила завета на своя Бог,

18 F or her house inclineth unto death, And her paths unto the dead;

защото домът ѝ води надолу към смъртта и пътеките ѝ - към мъртвите;

19 N one that go unto her return again, Neither do they attain unto the paths of life:

никой от онези, които влизат при нея, не се връща, нито стига пътищата на живота;

20 T hat thou mayest walk in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous.

за да ходиш ти в пътя на добрите и да пазиш пътеките на праведните.

21 F or the upright shall dwell in the land, And the perfect shall remain in it.

Защото правдивите ще населят земята и непорочните ще останат в нея,

22 B ut the wicked shall be cut off from the land, And the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.

а нечестивите ще бъдат изтребени от земята и коварните ще бъдат изкоренени от нея.
