1 N ow Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the house of Jehovah, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.

А Пасхор, син на свещеника Емир, който беше началник на Господния дом, чу Йеремия, като пророкуваше тези неща.

2 T hen Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Jehovah.

Тогава Пасхор удари пророка Йеремия и го сложи в кладата, която беше в горната Вениаминова порта до Господния дом.

3 A nd it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, Jehovah hath not called thy name Pashhur, but Magor-missabib.

А на сутринта Пасхор извади Йеремия от кладата. Тогава Йеремия му каза: Господ не те нарече Пасхор, а Магор-мисавив.

4 F or thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it; and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.

Защото така казва Господ: Ето, ще те направя за ужас на самия теб и на всичките ти приятели; те ще паднат от меча на неприятелите си и очите ти ще видят това; и ще предам Юда цял в ръката на вавилонския цар, който ще ги заведе пленници във Вавилон и ще ги порази с меч.

5 M oreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all the gains thereof, and all the precious things thereof, yea, all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies; and they shall make them a prey, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.

При това ще предам цялото богатство на този град, всичките му печалби и скъпоценности, дори всичките съкровища на Юдейските царе ще предам в ръката на неприятелите им, които ще ги разграбят, ще ги вземат и ще ги занесат във Вавилон.

6 A nd thou, Pashhur, and all that dwell in thy house shall go into captivity; and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there shalt thou be buried, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied falsely.

И ти, Пасхоре, заедно с всички, които живеят в дома ти, ще отидеш в плен; ще пристигнеш във Вавилон, там ще умреш и там ще бъдеш погребан, ти и всичките ти приятели, на които си пророкувал лъжливо. Съдбата на пророка

7 O Jehovah, thou hast persuaded me, and I was persuaded; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocketh me.

Господи, примамил си ме и аз бях примамен; Ти си по-силен от мен и си надмогнал. Аз станах за присмех цял ден; всички се подиграват с мене;

8 F or as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry, Violence and destruction! because the word of Jehovah is made a reproach unto me, and a derision, all the day.

защото отворя ли уста, не мога да не викам; трябва да викам: Насилие и грабеж! Защото словото Господне става причина за позор и присмех над мене цял ден.

9 A nd if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with forbearing, and I cannot contain.

Но ако кажа: Няма да спомена за Него, нито ще продумам вече в името Му, тогава Неговото слово става в сърцето ми като пламнал огън, затворен в костите ми; уморявам се да го задържам, но не мога.

10 F or I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

Защото чух клевета от мнозина; навсякъде е трепет. Обвинявайте! И ние ще го обвиним - казват всички, с които аз живеех в мир, които гледат да се спъна, - може би той ще се помами в някаква погрешка и ще надмогнем над него, и ще си му отмъстим.

11 B ut Jehovah is with me as a mighty one and a terrible: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be utterly put to shame, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which shall never be forgotten.

Но Господ е с мене като мощен и страшен защитник; затова гонителите ми ще се спънат и няма да ми надвият; те ще се посрамят много, защото не постъпиха разумно; срамът им ще бъде вечен, няма да се забрави.

12 B ut, O Jehovah of hosts, that triest the righteous, that seest the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

Но, Господи на Силите, Който изпитваш праведния и гледаш вътрешностите на сърцето, нека вѝдя Твоето въздаяние върху тях, защото на Тебе поверих делото си.

13 S ing unto Jehovah, praise ye Jehovah; for he hath delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evil-doers.

Пейте на Господа, хвалете Господа; защото избави душата на немотния от ръката на злодеите.

14 C ursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.

Проклет да бъде денят, в който се родих; да не бъде благословен денят, в който ме роди майка ми;

15 C ursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man-child is born unto thee; making him very glad.

проклет да бъде човекът, който извести на баща ми, като каза: Роди ти се мъжко дете, - и с това се зарадва много;

16 A nd let that man be as the cities which Jehovah overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear a cry in the morning, and shouting at noontime;

и да бъде този човек като градовете, които Господ не съжали и съсипа, и нека слуша сутрин вик, и по пладне тревога;

17 b ecause he slew me not from the womb; and so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great.

защото не ме умъртви в утробата и така майка ми да ми е била гроб и утробата ѝ да е останала винаги бременна.

18 W herefore came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Защо излязох от утробата, за да гледам труд и скръб и дните ми да се довършат от срам?!
