1 N ow it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

В третата година на Израелевия цар Осия, Иловия син, се възцари Езекия, син на Юдейския цар Ахаз.

2 T wenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

Той беше на възраст двадесет и пет години, когато се възцари, и царува̀ двадесет и девет години в Йерусалим; името на майка му беше Авия, Захариева дъщеря.

3 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.

Той вършѝ това, което беше праведно пред Господа, напълно както баща му Давид:

4 H e removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

събори високите места, изпочупи кумирите, изсече ашерите и унищожи медната змия, която Моисей беше направил, защото дори до онова време израелтяните ѝ кадеха; и я нарече Нехущан.

5 H e trusted in Jehovah, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.

На Господа, Израелевия Бог, се упова. Нямаше подобен на него между всички Юдейски царе, нито между онези, които бяха след него, нито преди него;

6 F or he clave to Jehovah; he departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which Jehovah commanded Moses.

защото се прилепи към Господа, не престана да Го следва и опази заповедите, които Господ даде на Моисей.

7 A nd Jehovah was with him; whithersoever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

И Господ беше с него; където и да излизаше, той благоуспяваше; и въстана против асирийския цар и не му слугуваше вече.

8 H e smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.

Той порази филистимците до Газа и околностите ѝ, от стражарска кула до укрепен град.

9 A nd it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

А в четвъртата година на цар Езекия, която беше седмата година на Израелевия цар Осия, син на Ила, асирийският цар Салманасар воюваше против Самария и я обсаждаше.

10 A nd at the end of three years they took it: in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

След три години я превзе; в шестата година на Езекия, която беше девета година на Израелевия цар Осия, Самария беше превзета.

11 A nd the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,

Асирийският цар отведе Израел в плен в Асирия и ги настани в Ала и Авор при реката Гозан и в мидските градове;

12 b ecause they obeyed not the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.

защото не послушаха гласа на Господа, своя Бог, а престъпиха завета Му - всичко, което Господният слуга Моисей заповяда - и не послушаха, нито го извършиха.

13 N ow in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

А в четиринадесетата година на цар Езекия асирийският цар Сенахирим воюва против всички укрепени Юдейски градове и ги превзе.

14 A nd Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

Тогава Юдейският цар Езекия прати до асирийския цар в Лахис да кажат: Съгреших; отиди си от мене; каквото ми наложиш, ще го направя. И така, асирийският цар наложи на Юдейския цар Езекия триста таланта сребро и тридесет таланта злато.

15 A nd Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house.

И Езекия му даде цялото сребро, което се намери в Господния дом и в съкровищата на царската къща.

16 A t that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of Jehovah, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

В това време Езекия откова златото от вратите на Господния храм и от стълбовете, които той, Юдейският цар Езекия, беше обковал със злато, и го даде на асирийския цар.

17 A nd the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

Но асирийският цар прати от Лахис Тартана, Рапсарис и Рапсак с голяма войска при цар Езекия в Йерусалим. А те възлязоха и дойдоха в Йерусалим. И когато стигнаха, застанаха при водопровода на горния водоем, който е по пътя към тепавичарската нива.

18 A nd when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

И когато извикаха към царя, при тях излязоха управителят на двореца Елиаким, Хелкиевият син, секретарят Шевна и летописецът Йоах, Асафовият син.

19 A nd Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

Тогава Рапсак им каза: Съобщете сега на Езекия: Така казва великият цар, асирийският цар: Каква е тази увереност, на която се уповаваш?

20 T hou sayest (but they are but vain words), There is counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?

Ти казваш: Имам благоразумие и сила за воюване. Но това са само лицемерни думи. И така, на кого се надяваш, че си въстанал против мене?

21 N ow, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

Виж, ти се надяваш като че ли на тояга, на онази счупена тръстика на Египет, на която, ако се опре някой, ще се забучи в ръката му и ще я промуши. Такъв е египетският цар фараон за всички, които се надяват на него.

22 B ut if ye say unto me, We trust in Jehovah our God; is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

Но ако ми кажете: На Господа, нашия Бог, се уповаваме, то Той не е ли Онзи, Чиито високи места и жертвеници премахна Езекия, като каза на Юдея и на Йерусалим: Пред този жертвеник в Йерусалим се покланяйте?

23 N ow therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

И така, сега дай хора в залог на господаря ми, асирийския цар; а аз ще ти дам две хиляди коне, ако можеш от своя страна да поставиш на тях ездачи.

24 H ow then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

Как тогава ще отблъснеш един военачалник от най-ниските слуги на господаря ми? Но пак се уповаваш на Египет за колесници и конници!

25 A m I now come up without Jehovah against this place to destroy it? Jehovah said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Без волята на Господа ли излязох сега на това място, за да го съсипя? Господ ми каза: Излез против тази земя и я съсипи.

26 T hen said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not with us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

Тогава Елиаким, Хелкиевият син, Шевна и Йоах казаха на Рапсак: Говори, молим, на слугите си на сирийски, защото го разбираме; недей ни говори на юдейски, за да не чуе народът, който е на стената.

27 B ut Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?

Но Рапсак им отговори: Дали ме е пратил господарят ми само при твоя господар и при тебе да говоря тези думи? Не ме ли е изпратил при мъжете, които седят на стената, за да ядат заедно с вас изпражненията си и да пият пикочта си?

28 T hen Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.

Тогава Рапсак застана и извика на юдейски със силен глас: Слушайте думата на великия цар, асирийския цар -

29 T hus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

така казва царят: Да не ви мами Езекия. Защото той няма да може да ви избави от ръката ми.

30 n either let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

И да не ви кара Езекия да се уповавате на Господа, като казва: Господ непременно ще ни избави и този град няма да бъде предаден в ръката на асирийския цар.

31 H earken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

Не слушайте Езекия, защото така казва асирийският цар: Сключете договор с мен и излезте при мен, и яжте всеки от лозето си и всеки от смокинята си, и пийте всеки от водата на кладенеца си,

32 U ntil I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive-trees and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us.

докато дойда и ви заведа в земя, подобна на вашата, земя, която изобилства с жито и вино, земя, която изобилства с хляб и лозя, земя, която изобилства с дървено масло и мед, за да живеете и да не умрете. И не слушайте Езекия, когато би ви убеждавал, като казва: Господ ще ни избави.

33 H ath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Някой от боговете на народите избавил ли е земята си от ръката на асирийския цар?

34 W here are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

Къде са боговете на Емат и Аршад? Къде са боговете на Сефаруим, на Ена и на Ава? Избавиха ли те Самария от ръката ми?

35 W ho are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

Кои от всичките богове на тези страни са избавили земята си от моята ръка, за да избави Йехова Йерусалим от ръката ми?

36 B ut the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

А народът мълчеше и не му отговориха нито дума, защото царят беше заповядал: Да не му отговаряте.

37 T hen came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

Тогава управителят на двореца Елиаким, Хелкиевият син, секретарят Шевна и летописецът Йоах, Асафовият син, дойдоха при Езекия с раздрани дрехи и му известиха Рапсаковите думи.
