1 S o Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

Така Авия заспа с бащите си и го погребаха в Давидовия град; и вместо него се възцари синът му Аса. В неговите дни земята беше спокойна десет години.

2 A nd Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of Jehovah his God:

Аса вършѝ това, което беше добро и право пред Господа, своя Бог;

3 f or he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and brake down the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim,

защото махна жертвениците на чуждите богове и високите места, изпотроши идолите и изсече ашерите;

4 a nd commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

и заповяда на юдеите да търсят Господа, Бога на бащите си, и да изпълняват закона и заповедите Му.

5 A lso he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.

Махна още от всички Юдейски градове високите места и кумирите на слънцето. И царството утихна пред него.

6 A nd he built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because Jehovah had given him rest.

И тъй като земята утихна и нямаше война в онези години, той съгради укрепени градове в Юдея; понеже Господ му даде покой.

7 F or he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars; the land is yet before us, because we have sought Jehovah our God; we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

Затова той каза на юдеите: Да съградим тези градове и да направим около тях стени и кули, порти и лостове, докато земята е още свободна пред нас; понеже потърсихме Господа, нашия Бог, потърсихме Го и Той ни е дал покой от всяка страна. И така, съградиха и благоуспяха.

8 A nd Asa had an army that bare bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valor.

А Аса имаше войска: от Юда - триста хиляди мъже, които носеха щитове и копия; а от Вениамин - двеста и осемдесет хиляди, които носеха малки щитове и стреляха с лъкове; всички те бяха силни и храбри.

9 A nd there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and he came unto Mareshah.

След това етиопецът Зара излезе против тях с една войска от един милион мъже и с триста колесници и стигна до Мариса.

10 T hen Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

Аса излезе против него; и се опълчиха за бой в долината Сефата, при Мариса.

11 A nd Asa cried unto Jehovah his God, and said, Jehovah, there is none besides thee to help, between the mighty and him that hath no strength: help us, O Jehovah our God; for we rely on thee, and in thy name are we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

Тогава Аса извика към Господа, своя Бог, и каза: Господи, за Теб е безразлично да помагаш на мощния или на онзи, който няма никаква сила; помогни ни, Господи, Боже наш, защото на Теб уповаваме и в Твоето име идваме против това множество. Господи, Ти си нашият Бог; да не надделее човек против Теб.

12 S o Jehovah smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

И Господ порази етиопците пред Аса и пред Юдея; и етиопците побегнаха.

13 A nd Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before Jehovah, and before his host; and they carried away very much booty.

А Аса и народът, който беше с него, ги преследваха до Герар; и от етиопците паднаха толкова много, че не можаха вече да се съвземат, защото бяха смазани пред Господа и пред Неговото множество. И Юдейските мъже взеха твърде много плячка.

14 A nd they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of Jehovah came upon them: and they despoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them.

И поразиха всички градове около Герар, защото ги обзе страх от Господа; и ограбиха всички градове, защото в тях имаше много плячка.

15 T hey smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.

Нападнаха още и шатрите на добитъка и като взеха много овце и камили, се върнаха в Йерусалим.
