1 A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

2 T he tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.

Езикът на мъдрите изказва знание, а устата на безумните изригват глупост.

3 T he eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

Очите Господни са на всяко място и наблюдават злите и добрите.

4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

Благият език е дърво на живот, а извратеността в него съкрушава духа.

5 A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.

Безумният презира поуката на баща си, а който внимава в изобличението, е благоразумен.

6 I n the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

В дома на праведния има голямо изобилие, а в доходите на нечестивия има загриженост.

7 T he lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

Устните на мъдрите разсяват знание, а сърцето на безумните не прави така.

8 T he sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Жертвата на нечестивите е мерзост пред Господа, а молитвата на праведните е приятна за Него.

9 T he way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Пътят на нечестивия е мерзост за Господа, а Той обича този, който следва правдата.

10 T here is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; And he that hateth reproof shall die.

Има тежко наказание за онези, които се отбиват от пътя; и който мрази изобличение, ще умре.

11 S heol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men!

Адът и гибелта са открити пред Господа, колко повече - сърцата на човешките синове!

12 A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.

Присмивателят не обича изобличителя си, нито ще отиде при мъдрите.

13 A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

Весело сърце прави засмяно лице, а от скръбта на сърцето духът се съкрушава.

14 T he heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.

Сърцето на разумния търси знание, а устата на безумните се хранят с глупост.

15 A ll the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.

За наскърбения всички дни са зли, а онзи, който е с весело сърце, има вечно пируване.

16 B etter is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

По-добро е малкото със страх от Господа, отколкото много съкровища с безпокойство.

17 B etter is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

По-добра е гощавката от зеле с любов, отколкото охранено говедо с омраза.

18 A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Яростният човек повдига препирни, а който не се гневи, бързо усмирява крамоли.

19 T he way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.

Пътят на ленивия е като трънен плет, а пътят на праведните е като друм.

20 A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.

Мъдър син радва баща си, а безумен човек презира майка си.

21 F olly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.

На безумния глупостта е радост, а разумен човек ходи по прав път.

22 W here there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Където няма съветване, намеренията се осуетяват, а в множеството на съветниците те се утвърждават.

23 A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!

От отговора на устата си човек изпитва радост; и дума, навреме казана, колко е добра!

24 T o the wise the way of life goeth upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.

За разумния пътят на живота върви нагоре, за да се отклони от ада долу.

25 J ehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.

Господ съсипва дома на горделивите, а утвърждава предела на вдовицата.

26 E vil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words are pure.

Лошите помисли са мерзост пред Господа! А чистите думи са Му угодни.

27 H e that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.

Користолюбивият смущава своя дом, а който мрази даровете, ще живее.

28 T he heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Сърцето на праведния обмисля какво да отговаря, а устата на нечестивите изригват зло.

29 J ehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Господ е далеч от нечестивите, а слуша молитвата на праведните.

30 T he light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; And good tidings make the bones fat.

Светъл поглед весели сърцето и добри вести угояват костите.

31 T he ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise.

Ухо, което слуша животворното изобличение, ще пребивава между мъдрите.

32 H e that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.

Който отхвърля поуката, презира душата си, а който слуша изобличението, придобива разум.

33 T he fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor goeth humility.

Страхът от Господа е възпитание в мъдрост и смирението предшества славата.
