1 N ow Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

А в осемнадесетата година на Юдейския цар Йосафат Йорам, Ахаавовият син, се възцари над Израел в Самария; и царува̀ дванадесет години.

2 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not like his father, and like his mother; for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.

Той вършѝ зло пред Господа, но не както баща му и майка му, защото вдигна Вааловия кумир, който беше направил баща му.

3 N evertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

Обаче беше привързан към греховете на Еровоам, Наватовия син, който подтикна Израел да греши; не се отказа от тях.

4 N ow Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master; and he rendered unto the king of Israel the wool of a hundred thousand lambs, and of a hundred thousand rams.

А моавският цар Миса имаше стада и даваше като данък на Израелевия цар въ̀лната от сто хиляди агнета и сто хиляди овни.

5 B ut it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

Но когато Ахаав умря, моавският цар въстана срещу Израелевия цар.

6 A nd king Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel.

Затова цар Йорам излезе тогава от Самария и събра целия Израел.

7 A nd he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

И като отиваше, той прати до Юдейския цар Йосафат да кажат: Моавският цар въстана против мене; ще дойдеш ли с мене на бой против Моав? А Йосафат отговори: Ще дойда; аз съм, както си ти, моят народ - както твоят народ, моите коне - както твоите коне.

8 A nd he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way of the wilderness of Edom.

Попита още: През кой път да минем? А той отговори: През пътя за Едомската пустиня.

9 S o the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, nor for the beasts that followed them.

И така, Израелевият цар и Юдейският цар, и едомският цар отидоха и направиха седемдневна обиколка; но нямаше вода за войската и за животните, които бяха с тях.

10 A nd the king of Israel said, Alas! for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

Тогава Израелевият цар каза: Уви! Наистина Господ свика тези трима царе, за да ги предаде в ръката на Моав!

11 B ut Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

А Йосафат попита: Няма ли тук Господен пророк, за да се допитаме до Господа чрез него? И един от слугите на Израелевия цар му отговори: Тук е Елисей, Сафатовият син, който поливаше вода на Илиевите ръце.

12 A nd Jehoshaphat said, The word of Jehovah is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Тогава Йосафат каза: Господнето слово е в него. И така, Израелевият цар, Йосафат и едомският цар слязоха при Елисей.

13 A nd Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay; for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

А Елисей запита Израелевия цар: Какво има между мен и теб? Иди при пророците на баща си и на майка си. Израелевият цар му отвърна: Не, защото Господ свика тези трима царе, за да ги предаде в ръката на Моав.

14 A nd Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

А Елисей каза: Заклевам се в живота на Господа на Силите, на Когото служа, че наистина, ако не почитах присъствието на Юдейския цар Йосафат, не бих погледнал към тебе, нито бих те видял.

15 B ut now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah came upon him.

А сега ми доведете един музикант. Докато музикантът свиреше, Господнята ръка дойде върху Елисей.

16 A nd he said, Thus saith Jehovah, Make this valley full of trenches.

И той каза: Така говори Господ: Направи цялата тази долина на трапове;

17 F or thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and ye shall drink, both ye and your cattle and your beasts.

защото така казва Господ: Без да видите вятър и дъжд, пак тази долина ще се напълни с вода; и ще пиете вие, добитъкът ви и животните ви.

18 A nd this is but a light thing in the sight of Jehovah: he will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.

Но това е малко нещо пред очите на Господа. Той освен това ще предаде и Моав в ръката ви;

19 A nd ye shall smite every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all fountains of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.

и ще победите всеки укрепен град и всеки отбран град, ще повалите всяко добро дърво, ще запушите всички водни извори и ще засипете с камъни всяка добра земя.

20 A nd it came to pass in the morning, about the time of offering the oblation, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

На сутринта, когато се принасяше приносът, ето, дойдоха води от едомския път и земята се напълни с вода.

21 N ow when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all that were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood on the border.

А като чуха всички моавци, че царете са дошли да се бият с тях, се събраха всички, които можеха да държат меч и нагоре, и застанаха на границата.

22 A nd they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood:

След като станаха на сутринта и слънцето изгря върху водите, моавците видяха водите отсреща червени като кръв и казаха:

23 a nd they said, This is blood; the kings are surely destroyed, and they have smitten each man his fellow: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

Това е кръв; непременно царете са се били помежду си и са се поразили един друг; и така, сега към плячката, Моаве!

24 A nd when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land smiting the Moabites.

А когато дойдоха в Израелевия стан, израелтяните станаха и поразиха моавците, така че онези побегнаха пред тях; и като поразяваха моавците, влязоха в земята им.

25 A nd they beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the fountains of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they left the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

Израелтяните събориха градовете и на всяка добра площ земя хвърлиха всеки камъка си и я напълниха, запушиха всички водни извори и отсякоха всяко добро дърво; само на Кир-арасет оставиха камъните му, но бойците с прашка го заобиколиха и го поразиха.

26 A nd when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to break through unto the king of Edom; but they could not.

Моавският цар, когато видя, че губи сражението, събра около себе си седемстотин мечоносци, за да пробият път до едомския цар; но не можаха.

27 T hen he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

Тогава той взе първородния си син, който щеше да се възцари вместо него, и го принесе в жертва всеизгаряне на стената. Затова настана голямо възмущение сред израелтяните; и те се оттеглиха от него и се върнаха в земята си.
