1 J osiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

Йосия беше на възраст осем години, когато се възцари, и царува̀ в Йерусалим тридесет и една години; името на майка му беше Йедида, дъщеря на Адайя от Васкат.

2 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

Той вършѝ това, което беше праведно пред Господа, като ходѝ напълно по пътя на баща си Давид, без да се отклони надясно или наляво.

3 A nd it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying,

В осемнадесетата година на цар Йосия царят прати в Господния дом секретаря Сафан, син на Азалия, Месуламовия син, и му каза:

4 G o up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of Jehovah, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people:

Иди при първосвещеника Хелкия и му кажи да изброи внесените в Господния дом пари, които вратарите са събрали от народа,

5 a nd let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of Jehovah, to repair the breaches of the house,

и нека ги предадат в ръката на работниците, които надзирават Господния дом; а те нека ги дадат на работниците, които са в Господния дом, за да поправят разваленото на дома -

6 u nto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.

на дърводелците, строителите и зидарите - и за да купят дървета и дялани камъни, за да поправят дома.

7 H owbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully.

Обаче не им държаха никаква сметка за предаваните в ръцете им пари, защото те постъпваха честно.

8 A nd Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

Тогава първосвещеникът Хелкия каза на секретаря Сафан: Намерих книгата на закона в Господния дом. И Хелкия даде книгата на Сафан, който я прочете.

9 A nd Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah.

Секретарят Сафан отиде при царя и му доложи: Слугите ти изразходваха парите, които намериха в дома, като ги предадоха в ръката на работниците, които надзирават Господния дом.

10 A nd Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Секретарят Сафан извести също на царя: Свещеникът Хелкия ми даде една книга. И Сафан я прочете пред царя.

11 A nd it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

А царят, като чу думите на книгата на закона, раздра дрехите си.

12 A nd the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying,

Тогава царят заповяда на свещеника Хелкия, на Ахикам, Сафановия син, на Аховор, Михеевия син, на секретаря Сафан и на царския слуга Асайя:

13 G o ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.

Идете, допитайте се до Господа за мене, за народа и за цяла Юдея относно думите на тази книга, която бе намерена; защото голям е Господният гняв, който е пламнал против нас, понеже бащите ни не послушаха думите на тази книга, за да постъпват, напълно както е писано за нас.

14 S o Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they communed with her.

И така, свещеник Хелкия, Ахикам, Аховор, Сафан и Асайя отидоха при пророчицата Олда, жена на одеждопазителя Селум, син на Текуй, Арасовия син. А тя живееше в Йерусалим, във втория участък; и те говориха с нея.

15 A nd she said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Tell ye the man that sent you unto me,

Тя им каза: Така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Кажете на човека, който ви е пратил до Мене:

16 T hus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read.

Така казва Господ: Аз ще докарам злото на това място и на жителите му според всичко, което е писано в книгата, която Юдейският цар е прочел.

17 B ecause they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched.

Понеже Ме изоставиха и кадяха на други богове, и Ме разгневиха с всички дела на ръцете си, затова гневът Ми ще пламне против това място и няма да угасне.

18 B ut unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard,

А на Юдейския цар, който ви прати да се допитате до Господа, така да му кажете: Така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Относно думите, които ти си чул:

19 b ecause thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.

Понеже сърцето ти е омекнало и ти си се смирил пред Господа, когато си чул това, което говорих против това място и против жителите му, че ще запустеят и ще станат за проклятие, и ти раздра дрехите си и плака пред Мене, затова и Аз те послушах, казва Господ.

20 T herefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

И така, Аз ще те прибера при бащите ти и ще слезеш в гроба си с мир; и твоите очи няма да видят нищо от цялото зло, което ще докарам на това място. И те доложиха на царя.
