1 A nd Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hand of the Ishmaelites, that had brought him down thither.

А Йосиф заведоха в Египет и египтянинът Петефрий, фараонов придворен, началник на телохранителите, го купи от ръката на исмаиляните, които го доведоха там.

2 A nd Jehovah was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

И Господ беше с Йосиф и той благоуспяваше и се намираше в дома на господаря си, египтянина.

3 A nd his master saw that Jehovah was with him, and that Jehovah made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

След като господарят му видя, че Господ беше с него и че Господ прави да успява в ръката му всичко, което вършеше,

4 A nd Joseph found favor in his sight, and he ministered unto him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Йосиф придоби благоволение пред очите му и му служеше. И той го постави настоятел на дома си, като предаде в ръката му всичко, което имаше.

5 A nd it came to pass from the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that Jehovah blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of Jehovah was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field.

И откакто го постави настоятел на дома си и на всичко, което имаше, Господ благослови дома на египтянина заради Йосиф; Господнето благословение беше върху всичко, каквото имаше в дома и по нивите.

6 A nd he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not aught that was with him, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was comely, and well-favored.

А Петефрий остави всичко, каквото имаше, в Йосифовата ръка и освен хляба, който ядеше, не знаеше нищо за онова, което притежаваше. А Йосиф беше строен и красив.

7 A nd it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

И след време жената на господаря му хвърли очи на Йосиф и му каза: Легни с мене.

8 B ut he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master knoweth not what is with me in the house, and he hath put all that he hath into my hand:

Но той отказа и каза на жената на господаря си: Виж, господарят ми не знае нищо за онова, което е с мене в дома, и предаде в моята ръка всичко, каквото има;

9 h e is not greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

в този дом няма никой по-голям от мене, нито е задържал от мене друго нещо освен тебе, защото си му жена; и така, как да извърша аз това голямо зло и да съгреша пред Бога?

10 A nd it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

И при все че тя говореше на Йосиф всеки ден, той не я послуша да лежи с нея, нито да бъде с нея.

11 A nd it came to pass about this time, that he went into the house to do his work; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

А един ден, когато Йосиф влезе вкъщи, за да върши работата си, а никой от домашните мъже не беше там, вкъщи,

12 A nd she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

тя го хвана за наметалото и му каза: Легни с мене. Но той остави наметалото си в ръката ѝ, избяга и излезе вън.

13 A nd it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

А като видя, че остави наметалото си в ръката ѝ и избяга вън,

14 t hat she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in a Hebrew unto us to mock us: he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

тя извика домашните си мъже и им говорѝ: Вижте, доведе ни един евреин, за да се поругае с нас; той влезе при мене, за да ме изнасили; но аз извиках с висок глас.

15 a nd it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and fled, and got him out.

А той, като чу, че извиках с висок глас, остави наметалото си при мене, избяга и излезе вън.

16 A nd she laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.

И тя задържа наметалото му при себе си, докато си дойде господарят му в дома си.

17 A nd she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, whom thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

И според тези думи му каза: Еврейският слуга, когото ти си ни довел, влезе при мене, за да се поругае с мене;

18 a nd it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and fled out.

но, като извиках с висок глас, той остави наметалото си при мен и избяга вън.

19 A nd it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

Като чу господарят му думите, които му каза жена му: Така ми направи слугата ти, гневът му пламна.

20 A nd Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

И господарят му взе Йосиф и го хвърли в тъмницата, в мястото, където бяха задържани царските затворници; и той остана там, в крепостната тъмница. Йосиф в затвора

21 B ut Jehovah was with Joseph, and showed kindness unto him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

Но Господ беше с Йосиф и показваше благост към него, и предразположи тъмничния началник към него.

22 A nd the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

Така че тъмничният началник предаде под ръководството на Йосиф всички затворници, които бяха в крепостната тъмница; и за всичко, което се вършеше там, отговаряше той.

23 T he keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because Jehovah was with him; and that which he did, Jehovah made it prosper.

Тъмничният началник не наглеждаше нищо от онова, което беше в ръката на Йосиф; защото Господ беше с него и Той му даваше успех във всичко, каквото вършеше.
