1 N ow Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was toward Absalom.

Йоав, Саруиният син, забеляза, че сърцето на царя беше привързано към Авесалом.

2 A nd Joab sent to Tekoa, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on mourning apparel, I pray thee, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that hath a long time mourned for the dead:

Затова Йоав прати в Текое и доведоха оттам една умна жена, и той ѝ каза: Престори се, че си в траур, облечи траурни дрехи, не се помазвай с масло, а се престори на жена, която жалее дълго време за мъртвец.

3 a nd go in to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.

И иди при царя и му говори според тези думи. И Йоав я подучи какво да говори.

4 A nd when the woman of Tekoa spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.

Когато текойката дойде да говори на царя, падна с лице на земята, поклони се и каза: Помогни ми, царю.

5 A nd the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, Of a truth I am a widow, and my husband is dead.

И царят ѝ каза: Какво ти е? А тя отговори: Ах! Аз съм вдовица. Мъжът ми умря.

6 A nd thy handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and killed him.

Слугинята ти имаше двама сина. Те двамата се сбиха на полето. Нямаше кой да ги разтърве и единият удари другия и го уби.

7 A nd, behold, the whole family is risen against thy handmaid, and they say, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he slew, and so destroy the heir also. Thus will they quench my coal which is left, and will leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the face of the earth.

И, ето, всички роднини застанаха против слугинята ти и казаха: Предай онзи, който удари брат си, за да го убием за живота на брат му, когото уби. Така ще изтребим и наследника. С това те ще угасят въглена, който ми е останал, и няма да оставят на мъжа ми нито име, нито потомство по лицето на земята.

8 A nd the king said unto the woman, Go to thy house, and I will give charge concerning thee.

Царят каза на жената: Иди у дома си. Аз ще се разпоредя за теб.

9 A nd the woman of Tekoa said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house; and the king and his throne be guiltless.

А текойката отговори на царя: Господарю мой, царю, беззаконието нека бъде върху мен и върху бащиния ми дом, а царят и престолът нека бъдат невинни.

10 A nd the king said, Whosoever saith aught unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.

И царят отвърна: Който проговори против тебе, доведи го при мен и няма вече да те докачи.

11 T hen said she, I pray thee, let the king remember Jehovah thy God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As Jehovah liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.

А тя каза: Моля, нека царят помни Господа, своя Бог, за да не продължава отмъстителят за кръвта да изтребва и да не погуби сина ми. Той ѝ каза: Заклевам се в живота на Господа, нито един косъм от сина ти няма да падне на земята.

12 T hen the woman said, Let thy handmaid, I pray thee, speak a word unto my lord the king. And he said, Say on.

Тогава жената отговори: Нека каже, моля, слугинята ти още една дума на господаря си, царя. И той каза: Кажи.

13 A nd the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou devised such a thing against the people of God? for in speaking this word the king is as one that is guilty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished one.

Жената проговори: Защо си намислил такова нещо против Божия народ? Понеже царят, като казва това, излиза виновен затова, че царят не възвръща своя син изгнаник.

14 F or we must needs die, and are as water split on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God take away life, but deviseth means, that he that is banished be not an outcast from him.

Защото е неизбежно ние да умрем и сме като вода, разляна по земята, която не се събира пак. А и Бог не отнема живот, а изнамира средства, така че изгнаникът да не остане отдалечен от Него.

15 N ow therefore seeing that I am come to speak this word unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his servant.

По тази причина дойдох да кажа това на господаря си, царя. Народът ме уплаши и слугинята ти си каза: Ще говоря сега на царя. Може би царят ще изпълни молбата на слугинята си.

16 F or the king will hear, to deliver his servant out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

Защото царят ще послуша, за да избави слугинята си от ръката на човека, който иска да погуби и мен, и сина ми от Божието наследство.

17 T hen thy handmaid said, Let, I pray thee, the word of my lord the king be comfortable; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: and Jehovah thy God be with thee.

И слугинята ти си каза: Думата на господаря ми нека бъде сега утешителна. Защото господарят ми, царят, е като Божий ангел, за да разсъждава за доброто и злото. А Господ, твоят Бог, да бъде с тебе.

18 T hen the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, aught that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.

Тогава царят отговори на жената: Моля, не скривай от мене това, за което ще те попитам. И жената каза: Нека проговори, моля, господарят ми, царят.

19 A nd the king said, Is the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from aught that my lord the king hath spoken; for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thy handmaid;

Царят я запита: С тебе ли е във всичко това ръката на Йоав? А жената отговори: Заклевам се в живота на душата ти, господарю мой, царю, никой не може да се отклони нито надясно, нито наляво от нищо, което изрече господарят ми, царят. Слугата ти Йоав, той ми заповяда и той ме научи какво да кажа.

20 t o change the face of the matter hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

Слугата ти Йоав направи това, за да представи по този начин работата. И господарят ми е мъдър - с мъдростта на един Божий ангел, за да познава всичко, което има на света.

21 A nd the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom back.

Тогава царят каза на Йоав: Ето, ще направя това. Иди и доведи младежа Авесалом.

22 A nd Joab fell to the ground on his face, and did obeisance, and blessed the king: and Joab said, To-day thy servant knoweth that I have found favor in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath performed the request of his servant.

Йоав падна с лице на земята, поклони се и благослови царя. И Йоав каза: Днес слугата ти позна, че придоби твоето благоволение, господарю мой, царю, защото царят изпълни желанието на слугата си.

23 S o Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

И така, Йоав стана, отиде в Гесур и доведе Авесалом в Йерусалим.

24 A nd the king said, Let him turn to his own house, but let him not see my face. So Absalom turned to his own house, and saw not the king's face.

А царят каза: Нека отиде в своята къща, а моето лице няма да види. Затова Авесалом отиде в своята си къща и не видя лицето на царя.

25 N ow in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

А в целия Израел нямаше човек толкова много възхваляван за красотата си, колкото Авесалом. От петата на крака му чак до върха на главата му нямаше в него недостатък.

26 A nd when he cut the hair of his head (now it was at every year's end that he cut it; because it was heavy on him, therefore he cut it); he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels, after the king's weight.

И когато острижеше главата си (защото всяка година я стрижеше, понеже косата му натежаваше, затова я подстригваше), претегляше косата си и тя тежеше двеста сикъла според царската теглилка.

27 A nd unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.

На Авесалом се родиха трима сина и една дъщеря на име Тамар, която беше красива.

28 A nd Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem; and he saw not the king's face.

И Авесалом остана в Йерусалим цели две години, без да види лицето на царя.

29 T hen Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and he sent again a second time, but he would not come.

Тогава Авесалом повика Йоав, за да го изпрати при царя; но той отказа да дойде при него. Повика го втори път; но той пак отказа да дойде.

30 T herefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom's servants set the field on fire.

Затова Авесалом каза на слугите си: Йоавовата нива е близо до моята. Там има ечемик: идете и го запалете. И така, Авесаломовите слуги подпалиха нивата.

31 T hen Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?

Тогава Йоав стана, отиде при Авесалом в къщата му и го попита: Защо слугите ти са запалили нивата ми?

32 A nd Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it were better for me to be there still. Now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there be iniquity in me, let him kill me.

А Авесалом отговори на Йоав: Пратих до тебе да ти кажат: Ела тук, за да те пратя при царя да му кажеш: Защо съм дошъл от Гесур? По-добре щеше да е за мене да бях още там. Нека сега видя лицето на царя и ако има неправда в мене, нека ме убие.

33 S o Joab came to the king, and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

Тогава Йоав отиде при царя и му извести това. И царят повика Авесалом, който, като дойде при него, се поклони с лице до земята пред царя. И царят целуна Авесалом.
