1 A nd it came to pass after many days, that the word of Jehovah came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

След като измина дълго време, в третата година Господнето слово дойде към Илия и му каза: Иди, представи се на Ахаав; и ще дам дъжд на земята.

2 A nd Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And the famine was sore in Samaria.

И така, Илия отиде при Ахаав. А в Самария гладът беше тежък.

3 A nd Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Jehovah greatly:

А Ахаав беше повикал домоуправителя Авдий. (А Авдий се боеше много от Господа;

4 f or it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

защото, когато Езавел изтребваше Господните пророци, Авдий беше взел сто пророка и ги беше скрил, петдесет в една пещера и петдесет в друга, и ги беше хранил с хляб и вода.)

5 A nd Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go through the land, unto all the fountains of water, and unto all the brooks: peradventure we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

И Ахаав беше казал на Авдий: Обиколи земята, иди към всички водни извори и потоци дано намерим трева, за да запазим живота на конете и мулетата и да не се лишим от животните.

6 S o they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

И така, те бяха разделили земята помежду си, за да я обиколят: Ахаав беше отишъл сам по един път и Авдий беше отишъл сам по друг път.

7 A nd as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Is it thou, my lord Elijah?

Докато Авдий пътуваше по пътя, Илия го срещна. И Авдий го позна, падна по лице и каза: Ти ли си, господарю мой, Илия?

8 A nd he answered him, It is I: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

А той отговори: Аз съм. Иди, кажи на господаря си: Видях Илия.

9 A nd he said, Wherein have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

А Авдий запита: В какво съм съгрешил, че искаш да предадеш слугата си в ръката на Ахаав, за да ме убие?

10 A s Jehovah thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

Заклевам се в живота на Господа, твоя Бог, че няма народ или царство, където господарят ми да не е пращал хора да те търсят. И когато кажеха: Няма го тук, той заклеваше царството и народа, че не са те намерили там.

11 A nd now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

А сега ти ми казваш: Иди, кажи на господаря си: Видях Илия.

12 A nd it will come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear Jehovah from my youth.

Щом се отделя от тебе, Господният Дух ще те отведе там, където аз не зная. И когато отида да известя на Ахаав, че си тук, и той не те намери, ще ме убие. Но аз, твоят слуга, се боя от Господа още от младостта си.

13 W as it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of Jehovah, how I hid a hundred men of Jehovah's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

Не е ли известно на господаря ми какво направих, когато Езавел убиваше Господните пророци, как скрих сто души от Господните пророци, петдесет в една пещера и петдесет в друга, и ги храних с хляб и вода?

14 A nd now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here; and he will slay me.

А сега ти ми казваш: Иди, кажи на господаря си: Видях Илия; и той ще ме убие!

15 A nd Elijah said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to-day.

Но Илия отвърна: Заклевам се в живота на Господа на Силите, на Когото служа: Днес ще се явя на Ахаав.

16 S o Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

И така, Авдий отиде да посрещне Ахаав и му извести. И Ахаав отиде да посрещне Илия.

17 A nd it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel?

А като видя Илия, Ахаав му каза: Ти ли си, смутителю на Израел?

18 A nd he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and thou hast followed the Baalim.

А той отговори: Не аз смущавам Израел, а ти и твоят бащин дом. Защото вие изоставихте Господните заповеди и ти последва ваалимите.

19 N ow therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, that eat at Jezebel's table.

Сега пратѝ вестоносци и съберѝ при мене целия Израел на планината Кармил и четиристотин и петдесетте Ваалови пророци, и четиристотинте пророци на Ашера, които ядат на Езавелината трапеза.

20 S o Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

И така, Ахаав изпрати вест до всички израелтяни и събра пророците на планината Кармил.

21 A nd Elijah came near unto all the people, and said, How long go ye limping between the two sides? if Jehovah be God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Тогава Илия пристъпи към целия народ и се провикна: Докога ще се колебаете между две мнения? Ако Йехова е Бог, следвайте Го! Но ако Ваал е бог, следвайте него! А народът не му отговори нито дума.

22 T hen said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, am left a prophet of Jehovah; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

Тогава Илия каза на народа: Само аз останах Господен пророк; а Вааловите пророци са четиристотин и петдесет мъже.

23 L et them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under.

Те нека ни дадат две телета. Нека изберат едното теле за себе си, нека го разсекат и го сложат на дървата, но огън да не слагат отдолу. И аз ще приготвя другото теле и ще го сложа на дървата, но огън няма да сложа отдолу.

24 A nd call ye on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of Jehovah; and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

Тогава вие призовете името на вашия бог и аз ще призова името на Господа. И онзи бог, който отговори с огън, той нека е Бог. И целият народ отговори: Добро е, каквото си предложил.

25 A nd Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under.

И така, Илия каза на Вааловите пророци: Изберете си едното теле и го пригответе първо вие, защото сте мнозина. И призовете името на бога си, обаче не слагайте огън отдолу.

26 A nd they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped about the altar which was made.

И те взеха телето, което им беше дадено, приготвиха го и призоваваха името на Ваал от сутринта чак до обяд, като викаха: Послушай ни, Ваале! Но нямаше глас, нито кой да им отговори. И те скачаха около жертвеника, който бяха издигнали.

27 A nd it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud; for he is a god: either he is musing, or he is gone aside, or he is on a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth and must be awaked.

А около обяд Илия им се присмиваше: Викайте по-силно, защото е бог! Той или размишлява, или има някаква работа, или е на път, или може би спи и трябва да се събуди.

28 A nd they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lances, till the blood gushed out upon them.

И те викаха силно и се порязваха според обичая си с мечове и ножове, докато от тях бликна кръв.

29 A nd it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening oblation; but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

След като мина пладне, те пророкуваха до часа на вечерния принос. Но нямаше глас, нито кой да отговори, нито кой да им обърне внимание.

30 A nd Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me; and all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of Jehovah that was thrown down.

Тогава Илия каза на целия народ: Приближете се до мен. И целият народ се приближи до него. А той поправи Господния жертвеник, който беше съборен.

31 A nd Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Jehovah came, saying, Israel shall be thy name.

Илия взе дванадесет камъка според числото на племената на синовете на Яков, към когото беше дошло Господнето слово, и каза: Израел ще бъде името ти.

32 A nd with the stones he built an altar in the name of Jehovah; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

С камъните той издигна жертвеник в Господнето име. И около жертвеника направи изкоп, достатъчно голям да побира две сати семе.

33 A nd he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it on the wood. And he said, Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt-offering, and on the wood.

И като нареди дърва, насече телето на късове и го положи на дървата, и каза: Напълнете четири бъчви с вода и ги излейте върху всеизгарянето и дървата.

34 A nd he said, Do it the second time; and they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time; and they did it the third time.

После каза: Повторете. И повториха изливането. Каза още: Залейте и трети път! И те за трети път заляха.

35 A nd the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

И водата обикаляше около жертвеника, също и изкопът се напълни с вода.

36 A nd it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

А в часа на вечерния принос пророк Илия се приближи и каза: Господи, Боже Авраамов, Исааков и Израелев, нека стане известно днес, че Ти си Бог в Израел и аз - Твой слуга, и че според Твоето слово аз сторих всички тези неща.

37 H ear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou, Jehovah, art God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

Послушай ме, Господи, послушай ме, за да познае този народ, че Ти, Господи, си Бог и че Ти си възвърнал сърцата им назад.

38 T hen the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

Тогава огън от Господа падна, изгори всеизгарянето, дървата, камъните и пръстта, и облиза водата, която беше в изкопа.

39 A nd when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, Jehovah, he is God; Jehovah, he is God.

И целият народ, когато видяха това, паднаха по лицата си и казаха: Йехова, Той е Бог; Йехова, Той е Бог.

40 a nd Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

А Илия им нареди: Хванете Вааловите пророци. Не оставяйте нито един от тях да избяга. И ги хванаха. Илия ги заведе при потока Кисон и там ги изкла.

41 A nd Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.

Тогава Илия каза на Ахаав: Качи се, яж и пий, защото се чува звук на изобилен дъжд.

42 S o Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees.

И така, Ахаав отиде да яде и да пие, а Илия се изкачи на връх Кармил и като се наведе до земята, сложи лицето си между коленете си

43 A nd he said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

и каза на слугата си: Иди сега, погледни към морето. И слугата отиде, погледна и каза: Не виждам нищо. А Илия каза: Иди пак, и така седем пъти.

44 A nd it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a cloud out of the sea, as small as a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Make ready thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

На седмия път слугата отговори: Виждам малък облак, колкото човешка длан, да се издига от морето. Тогава Илия каза: Иди, съобщи на Ахаав: Впрегни колесницата си и слез, за да не те спре дъждът.

45 A nd it came to pass in a little while, that the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel:

А междувременно небето се помрачи от облаци, задуха вятър и заваля силен дъжд. И Ахаав, като се возеше на колесницата си, отиде в Езраел.

46 a nd the hand of Jehovah was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

И Господнята ръка беше върху Илия - той стегна кръста си и се затича пред Ахаав до входа на Езраел.
