1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint.

На стражата си ще застана, ще се изправя на кулата и ще внимавам да видя какво ще ми говори Той и какво да отговоря на изобличителя си. Божият отговор на Авакум

2 A nd Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.

Господ ми отговори: Напиши видението и го изложи ясно на дъсчици, за да може да се чете бързо.

3 F or the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.

Защото видението се отнася за едно определено бъдещо време, но бърза към изпълнението си и няма да излъже; ако и да се бави, чакай го, защото непременно ще дойде, няма да закъснее.

4 B ehold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith.

Ето, душата му се надигна, не е напълно права; а праведният ще живее чрез вярата си.

5 Y ea, moreover, wine is treacherous, a haughty man, that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples.

При това, понеже виното е коварно, той е високоумен човек, който не мирува, който разширява охотата си като преизподня и като смъртта не се насища, а събира при себе си всички народи и струпва при себе си всички племена.

6 S hall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges!

Няма ли всички те да съставят притча против такъв и против него присмехулна поговорка, като кажат: Горко на онзи, който натрупва много нещо, което не е негово (докога?), и който товари себе си със залози!

7 S hall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them?

Няма ли да станат внезапно онези, които ще хапят чрез лихварство, и да се повдигнат онези, които ще те правят окаян, че ти да им станеш за плячка?

8 B ecause thou hast plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder thee, because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein.

Понеже ти обра много народи, всички останали от племената ще те оберат, поради кръвта на хората и поради насилието, извършено от тебе спрямо земята, града и всичките му жители.

9 W oe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

Горко на онзи, който придобива неправедна печалба за дома си, за да постави гнездото си нависоко, за да се избави от силата на бедствието!

10 T hou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thy soul.

Ти си намислил онова, което ще докара срам на дома ти, като си изтребил много племена и си съгрешил против собствената си душа.

11 F or the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

Защото камък ще извика от стената и гредата от дърветата ще му отговори.

12 W oe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by iniquity!

Горко на онзи, който гради град с кръв и утвърждава град с неправда!

13 B ehold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

Ето, не е ли от Господа на Силите това, че племената се трудят за огъня и народите се мъчат за суетата?

14 F or the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.

Защото земята ще бъде пълна със знанието на славата Господня, както водите покриват морето.

15 W oe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, to thee that addest thy venom, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Горко на онзи, който упоява ближния си - на тебе, който изливаш яростта си, още и ги опиваш, за да гледаш голотата им!

16 T hou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory.

Напълнил си се със срам, а не със слава; пий и ти и нека се открие краекожието ти, чашата на десницата Господня ще се обърне към теб и гнусно безчестие ще бъде върху славата ти.

17 F or the violence done to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of the beasts, which made them afraid; because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein.

Защото неправдата ти към Ливан ще те покрие и изтребването на уплашените животни поради кръвта на хората, и насилието, извършено от тебе спрямо земята, града и всичките му жители.

18 W hat profiteth the graven image, that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he that fashioneth its form trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?

Каква полза от изваяния идол, че го е изваял художникът му? - Или от летия идол, учителя на лъжата, че творецът му уповава на делото си, така че да прави неми идоли?

19 W oe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

Горко на онзи, който казва на дървото: Събуди се!, на безмълвния камък: Вдигни се! Той ли ще го научи? Ето, той е обкован със злато и сребро и няма никакво дихание в него.

20 B ut Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

Но Господ е в святия Си храм; млъкни пред Него, цяла земьо.
