1 T he word of Jehovah which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

Господнето слово, което дойде към Софония, син на Хусия, син на Годолия, син на Амария, Езекиевия син, в дните на Юдейския цар Йосия, Амоновия син:

2 I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.

Съвсем ще погубя всичко от лицето на земята, казва Господ.

3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.

Ще погубя човек и животно, ще погубя въздушните птици и морските риби, и съблазнителните идоли заедно с нечестивите; и ще изтребя човека от лицето на земята, казва Господ.

4 A nd I will stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarim with the priests;

Ще протегна ръката Си върху Юдея и върху всички йерусалимски жители; и ще изтребя от това място останалите Ваалови служители и името на жреците на идоли заедно със свещениците.

5 a nd them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam;

Ще изтребя и онези, които върху покривите на къщите се кланят на небесното множество, и онези поклонници, които се кълнат едновременно в Господа и в Мелхома;

6 a nd them that are turned back from following Jehovah; and those that have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him.

също ще изтребя онези, които са се отклонили от Господа и които не търсят Господа, нито питат за Него.

7 H old thy peace at the presence of the Lord Jehovah; for the day of Jehovah is at hand: for Jehovah hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath consecrated his guests.

Мълчѝ в присъствието на Господа Йехова, защото е близо денят Господен; защото Господ приготви жертва, освети поканените Си.

8 A nd it shall come to pass in the day of Jehovah's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's sons, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.

И в деня на жертвата Господня ще накажа първенците и царските синове, и всички, които са облекли чуждестранни дрехи.

9 A nd in that day I will punish all those that leap over the threshold, that fill their master's house with violence and deceit.

В онзи ден ще накажа и всички, които прескачат праговете, които пълнят къщите на господарите си с грабителство и измама.

10 A nd in that day, saith Jehovah, there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.

И в онзи ден, казва Господ, ще се чуе метежен вик от рибната порта, ридание от втория квартал и голям гръм от хълмовете.

11 W ail, ye inhabitants of Maktesh; for all the people of Canaan are undone; all they that were laden with silver are cut off.

Плачете, жители на Мактес, защото целият търговски народ бе изтребен, бяха погубени всички, които бяха товарени със сребро.

12 A nd it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.

И в онова време ще претърся Йерусалим с лампи и ще накажа мъжете, които почиват на дрождите си, които казват в сърцето си: Господ няма да стори нито добро, нито зло.

13 A nd their wealth shall become a spoil, and their houses a desolation: yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof.

Затова имотът им ще бъде разграбен и къщите им - запустени. Да! Ще построят къщи, но няма да живеят в тях. И ще насадят лозя, но няма да пият виното им.

14 T he great day of Jehovah is near, it is near and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of Jehovah; the mighty man crieth there bitterly.

Близо е великият ден Господен. Близо е и много бърза - гласът на деня Господен; там ще извика горчиво и силният.

15 T hat day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

Ден на гняв е онзи ден, ден на смущение и утеснение, ден на опустошение и разорение, ден на тъмнина и мрак, ден на облак и гъста мъгла,

16 a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements.

ден на тръба и тревога против укрепените градове и против високите кули при ъглите.

17 A nd I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung.

Аз така ще наскърбя хората, че ще ходят като слепи, защото са съгрешили против Господа; кръвта им ще се излее като прах и плътта им - като нечистотии.

18 N either their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he will make an end, yea, a terrible end, of all them that dwell in the land.

Нито среброто им, нито златото им ще може да ги избави в деня на гнева Господен; а цялата земя ще бъде погълната от огъня на ревността Му; защото ще довърши, и то скоро, всички жители на земята.
