1 A maziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jehoaddan, of Jerusalem.

Амасия беше на възраст двадесет и пет години, когато се възцари, и царува̀ двадесет и девет години в Йерусалим. Името на майка му беше Йодана от Йерусалим.

2 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, but not with a perfect heart.

Той вършѝ това, което беше право пред Господа, но не със съвършено сърце.

3 N ow it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.

А като се утвърди царството му, той умъртви слугите си, които бяха убили баща му, царя.

4 B ut he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.

Но децата им не умъртви според писаното в закона в Моисеевата книга, където Господ заповядва: Бащите да не умират заради децата, нито децата да умират заради бащите; а всеки да умира за своя грях.

5 M oreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and ordered them according to their fathers' houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

Тогава Амасия събра юдеите и постави от тях хилядници и стотници според бащините им домове, по целия Юда и Вениамин; и като ги преброи от двадесет години и нагоре, намери ги триста хиляди отбрани мъже, способни да излизат на война, които можеха да държат копие и щит.

6 H e hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.

А от Израел нае още сто хиляди силни и храбри мъже за сто таланта сребро.

7 B ut there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for Jehovah is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.

Тогава при него дойде един Божий човек и каза: Царю, да не отиде с теб Израелевата войска; защото Господ не е с Израел, нито с никого от Ефремовите синове.

8 B ut if thou wilt go, do valiantly, be strong for the battle: God will cast thee down before the enemy; for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

Но ако си решил да идеш, действай храбро, укрепи се за бой; иначе Бог ще те направи да паднеш пред неприятеля, защото Бог има сила да помага и да сваля.

9 A nd Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, Jehovah is able to give thee much more than this.

Амасия отговори на Божия човек: Но какво да направим за стоте таланта, които дадох на Израелевата войска? А Божият човек отвърна: Господ може да ти даде много повече от това.

10 T hen Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.

Тогава Амасия ги отдели, т. е. войската, която беше дошла при него от Ефрем, за да се върнат у дома си; по тази причина гневът им пламна силно против Юдея и се върнаха у дома си много разярени.

11 A nd Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.

А Амасия се осмели, изведе народа си и отиде в Долината на солта, и порази десет хиляди от Сиировите потомци.

12 A nd other ten thousand did the children of Judah carry away alive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.

А други десет хиляди юдеите плениха живи и като ги закараха на върха на скалата, ги хвърлиха долу от върха на скалата, така че всички те загинаха.

13 B ut the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.

Но мъжете от войската, която Амасия върна назад, за да не идат с него на бой, нападнаха Юдейските градове от Самария чак до Ветерон и поразиха от тях три хиляди души, и заграбиха много плячка.

14 N ow it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

А Амасия, като се върна от поразяването на едомците, донесе боговете на Сиировите потомци и ги постави богове за себе си, кланяше се пред тях и им кадеше тамян.

15 W herefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?

Затова гневът на Господа пламна против Амасия и прати при него пророк, който му каза: Защо си прибегнал към боговете на този народ, които не можеха да избавят своя народ от ръката ти?

16 A nd it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Have we made thee of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

А като му говореше, той, царят му каза: Съветник ли те поставиха на царя? Престани; защо да бъдеш убит? И пророкът престана, като каза: Зная, че Бог е решил да те изтреби, понеже ти направи това и не послуша моя съвет.

17 T hen Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

Тогава Юдейският цар Амасия, като се посъветва, прати до Израелевия цар Йоас, син на Йоахаз, Ииуевия син, да кажат: Ела да се погледнем един друг в лице.

18 A nd Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

А Израелевият цар Йоас прати до Юдейския цар Амасия да кажат: Ливанският трън пратил до ливанския кедър да кажат: Дай дъщеря си за жена на сина ми. Но един звяр, който бил в Ливан, минал и стъпкал тръна.

19 T hou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

Ти казваш: Ето, поразих Едом; и сърцето ти те надигна да се хвалиш. Седи сега у дома си; защо да се заплиташ за собствена вреда, за да паднеш, ти и Юдея с тебе?

20 B ut Amaziah would not hear; for it was of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they had sought after the gods of Edom.

Но Амасия не послуша; защото от Бога беше това, за да ги предаде в ръката на неприятелите, понеже бяха прибегнали към едомските богове.

21 S o Joash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

И така, Израелевият цар Йоас излезе и се погледнаха един друг в лице, той и Юдейският цар Амасия, във Ветсемес, който принадлежи на Юдея.

22 A nd Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

И Юдея беше поразена пред Израел; и побегнаха всеки в шатъра си.

23 A nd Joash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

Израелевият цар Йоас хвана във Ветсемес Юдейския цар Амасия, син на Йоас, Йоахазовия син, и го доведе в Йерусалим, и събори четиристотин лакътя от йерусалимската стена, от Ефремовата порта до портата на ъгъла.

24 A nd he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

И като взе цялото злато и сребро и всички съдове, които се намираха в Божия дом при Овид-едом, и съкровищата на царската къща, също и заложници, се върна в Самария.

25 A nd Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

А след смъртта на Израелевия цар Йоас, Йоахазовия син, Юдейският цар Амасия, Йоасовият син, живя петнадесет години.

26 N ow the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

Останалите дела на Амасия, първите и последните, са записани в Книгата на Юдейските и Израелевите царе.

27 N ow from the time that Amaziah did turn away from following Jehovah they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

А след като Амасия се отклони от Господа, направиха заговор против него в Йерусалим и той побегна в Лахис; но пратиха след него в Лахис и там го убиха.

28 A nd they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.

Докараха го на коне и го погребаха с бащите му в Юдовия столичен град.
