1 M y son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:

2 F or length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.

3 L et not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

Благост и вярност нека не те изоставят; вържи ги около шията си, напиши ги на плочата на сърцето си.

4 S o shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man.

Така ще намериш благоволение и добро име пред Бога и хората.

5 T rust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:

Уповавай на Господа от все сърце и не се облягай на своя разум.

6 I n all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.

Във всичките си пътища признавай Него и Той ще оправя пътеките ти.

7 B e not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

Не мисли себе си за мъдър; бой се от Господа и се отклонявай от зло;

8 I t will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.

това ще бъде здраве за тялото ти и влага за костите ти.

9 H onor Jehovah with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thine increase:

Почитай Господа от имота си и от първото на целия доход.

10 S o shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats shall overflow with new wine.

Така ще се изпълнят житниците ти с изобилие и линовете ти ще преливат от ново вино.

11 M y son, despise not the chastening of Jehovah; Neither be weary of his reproof:

Сине мой, не презирай наказанието от Господа и да не ти дотяга, когато Той те изобличава,

12 F or whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

защото Господ изобличава онзи, когото обича, както и бащата - сина, който му е мил.

13 H appy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding.

Блажен онзи човек, който е намерил мъдрост, и човек, който е придобил разум,

14 F or the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.

защото търговията с нея е по-изгодна от търговията със сребро и печалбата от нея - по-скъпа от чисто злато.

15 S he is more precious than rubies: And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her.

Тя е по-скъпоценна от безценни камъни и нищо, което би пожелал ти, не се сравнява с нея.

16 L ength of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

Дългоденствие е в десницата ѝ и в левицата ѝ - богатство и слава.

17 H er ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

Пътищата ѝ са пътища приятни и всичките ѝ пътеки - мир.

18 S he is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.

Тя е дърво на живот за тези, които я прегръщат, и блажени са онези, които я държат.

19 J ehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens.

С мъдрост Господ основа земята, с разум утвърди небето.

20 B y his knowledge the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew.

Чрез Неговото знание се разтвориха бездните и от облаците капе роса.

21 M y son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Сине мой, не отделяй тези неща от очите си; пази здравомислие и разсъдливост,

22 S o shall they be life unto thy soul, And grace to thy neck.

така те ще бъдат живот на душата ти и украшение на шията ти.

23 T hen shalt thou walk in thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble.

Тогава ще ходиш безопасно по пътя си и кракът ти няма да се спъне.

24 W hen thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Когато лягаш, няма да се страхуваш. Да! Ще лягаш и сънят ти ще бъде сладък.

25 B e not afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh:

Няма да се боиш от внезапен страх, нито от бурята, когато нападне нечестивите,

26 F or Jehovah will be thy confidence, And will keep thy foot from being taken.

защото Господ ще бъде твое упование и ще опази крака ти от клопка.

27 W ithhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.

Не въздържай доброто от онези, на които се дължи, когато ти се отдава възможност да го направиш.

28 S ay not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give; When thou hast it by thee.

Не казвай на ближния си: Иди си, върни се пак утре и ще ти дам, когато имаш у себе си това, от което се нуждае.

29 D evise not evil against thy neighbor, Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Не намисляй зло против ближния си, който с увереност живее при тебе.

30 S trive not with a man without cause, If he have done thee no harm.

Не се карай с някого без причина, щом не ти е направил зло.

31 E nvy thou not the man of violence, And choose none of his ways.

Не завиждай на човек-насилник и не избирай нито един от пътищата му,

32 F or the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; But his friendship is with the upright.

защото Господ се гнуси от извратения, а общува интимно с праведните.

33 T he curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; But he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.

Проклятия от Господа има в дома на нечестивия; а Той благославя жилището на праведните.

34 S urely he scoffeth at the scoffers; But he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Наистина Той се присмива на присмивателите, а на смирените дава благодат.

35 T he wise shall inherit glory; But shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Мъдрите ще наследят слава, а безумните ще отнесат срам.
