1 Т огда ответил Билдад из Шуаха:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2 – Долго ли будешь ты так говорить? Твои слова – буйный ветер!

How long wilt thou speak these things? And how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a mighty wind?

3 Р азве Бог извращает суд? Извращает ли Всемогущий правду?

Doth God pervert justice? Or doth the Almighty pervert righteousness?

4 Е сли твои дети согрешили против Него, Он отдал их во власть их греха.

If thy children have sinned against him, And he hath delivered them into the hand of their transgression;

5 Н о если ты воззовешь к Богу и помолишься Всемогущему,

If thou wouldest seek diligently unto God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty;

6 е сли ты чист и праведен, то и ныне поднимется Он для тебя и вернет тебя на должное место.

If thou wert pure and upright: Surely now he would awake for thee, And make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

7 П режнее тебе покажется ничтожным, настолько велико будет твое будущее. Жизнь нечестивых и праведников

And though thy beginning was small, Yet thy latter end would greatly increase.

8 С проси прежнее поколение, рассмотри, что узнали их предки,

For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out:

9 в едь мы лишь вчерашние и ничего не знаем, наши дни на земле – лишь тень.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow);

10 Н еужели они не научат тебя, не наставят и слов своей мудрости не изрекут?

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, And utter words out of their heart?

11 Р астет ли папирус, где нет болот? Поднимается ли тростник без влаги?

Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the flag grow without water?

12 П ока в цвету они и еще не срезаны, но засыхают быстрее всех трав.

Whilst it is yet in its greenness, and not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.

13 Т аков удел всех, кто забыл Бога, и умирает надежда безбожников.

So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

14 И х упование непрочно, их безопасность – паучья сеть.

Whose confidence shall break in sunder, And whose trust is a spider's web.

15 О бопрутся на сеть свою – она не выдержит, схватятся – не удержит.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: He shall hold fast thereby, but it shall not endure.

16 Р асцветают они под солнцем, простирая ветви над садом;

He is green before the sun, And his shoots go forth over his garden.

17 г руду камней оплетая корнями, пробиваются они меж камней.

His roots are wrapped about the stone -heap, He beholdeth the place of stones.

18 А когда их исторгнут с прежнего места, само место от них отречется: «Я никогда вас не видело».

If he be destroyed from his place, Then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

19 В от вся радость их жизни! А из земли прорастут другие.

Behold, this is the joy of his way; And out of the earth shall others spring.

20 И так не отвергнет Бог беспорочного и не поддержит руки злодея.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, Neither will he uphold the evil-doers.

21 О н наполнит еще смехом твои уста и ликованием – губы твои.

He will yet fill thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with shouting.

22 В раги твои облекутся в стыд, и шатров нечестивых не станет.

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; And the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
