1 А хазу было двадцать лет, когда он стал царем, и правил он в Иерусалиме шестнадцать лет. В отличие от своего предка Давида, он не делал того, что было правильным в глазах Господа.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father;

2 О н ходил путями царей Израиля, и тоже сделал литых идолов, чтобы служить Баалам.

but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baalim.

3 О н приносил огненные жертвы в долине Бен-Гинном, и даже сжигал там своих сыновей по омерзительным обычаям народов, которых Господь прогнал от израильтян.

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the children of Israel.

4 О н приносил жертвы и возжигал благовония в святилищах на возвышенностях, на вершинах холмов и под каждым тенистым деревом.

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 П оэтому Господь, его Бог, отдал его в руки царя Арама. Арамеи разбили его, взяли много народа в плен и увели их в Дамаск. Он был отдан также в руки царя Израиля, который нанес ему тяжелые потери.

Wherefore Jehovah his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

6 П еках, сын Ремалии, убил сто двадцать тысяч доблестных воинов Иудеи в один день, потому что они оставили Господа, Бога их отцов.

For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

7 З ихрий, могучий воин ефремит, убил царского сына Маасею, распорядителя дворца Азрикама, и Элкану, второго человека после царя.

And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

8 И зраильтяне взяли в плен своих же братьев в Иудее, двести тысяч могучих воинов, вместе с их женами, сыновьями и дочерьми. Они взяли у них и богатую добычу, которую отправили в Самарию. Возвращение иудейских пленников

And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

9 Н о там был пророк Господа, которого звали Одед. Он вышел навстречу войску, когда оно возвращалось в Самарию, и сказал им: – Господь, Бог ваших отцов, разгневался на Иудею и отдал их вам в руки, но вы истребляли их с яростью, которая достигла небес.

But a prophet of Jehovah was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because Jehovah, the God of your fathers, was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage which hath reached up to heaven.

10 А теперь вы хотите сделать мужчин и женщин Иудеи и Иерусалима своими рабами. Но разве сами вы не грешили против Господа, вашего Бога?

And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not even with you trespasses of your own against Jehovah your God?

11 С лушайте же меня! Отпустите своих братьев, которых вы взяли в плен, назад, потому что гнев Господа воспылал на вас.

Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that ye have taken captive of your brethren; for the fierce wrath of Jehovah is upon you.

12 Н екоторые из вождей Ефрема – Азария, сын Иегоханана, Берехия, сын Мешиллемофа, Езекия, сын Шаллума, и Амаса, сын Хадлая, – предостерегли тех, кто возвращался с войны.

Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

13 – Не ведите сюда этих пленников, – сказали они, – иначе мы станем виновны перед Господом. Вы что, хотите прибавить к нашим грехам и преступлениям и этот? Наша вина и без того велика, и Его гнев воспылал на Израиль.

and said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for ye purpose that which will bring upon us a trespass against Jehovah, to add unto our sins and to our trespass; for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

14 Т огда воины отказались от пленников и добычи перед вождями и всем собранием.

So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the assembly.

15 А те, чьи имена были упомянуты, взяли пленников и всех из них, кто был наг, одели из добычи. Они дали им одежду и обувь, снабдили едой и питьем и помазали целебным маслом. Всех, кто ослаб, они посадили на ослов. Они доставили их к их соплеменникам в Иерихон, город Пальм, и вернулись в Самарию. Ахаз просит защиты у ассирийцев (4 Цар. 16: 7-20)

And the men that have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm-trees, unto their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

16 В то время царь Ахаз послал к царю Ассирии, прося о помощи,

At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

17 п отому что эдомитяне опять пришли, напали на Иудею и увели пленников,

For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

18 а филистимляне опустошали города в предгорьях и на юге Иудеи. Они захватили Бет-Шемеш, Айялон, Гедероф, города Сохо, Тимну и Гимзо с их окрестными поселениях и поселились там.

The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with the towns thereof, and Timnah with the towns thereof, Gimzo also and the towns thereof: and they dwelt there.

19 Г осподь унизил Иудею из-за Ахаза, царя Израиля, потому что тот развратил Иудею и забыл про верность Господу.

For Jehovah brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed sore against Jehovah.

20 К нему пришел Тиглатпаласар, царь Ассирии, но стал притеснять его, вместо того чтобы помочь.

And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

21 А хаз взял сокровища из дома Господа, из собственного дворца и дворца вождей и выплатил дань царю Ассирии, но это ему не помогло.

For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Jehovah, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but it helped him not.

22 В этой беде царь Ахаз еще сильнее нарушил верность Господу.

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against Jehovah, this same king Ahaz.

23 О н принес жертвы богам Дамаска, думая, что это они разбили его, и говорил: «Раз боги царей Арама помогли им, стану приносить им жертвы, чтобы они помогли и мне». Но они привели к падению и его, и весь Израиль.

For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him; and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

24 А хаз собрал утварь Божьего дома и порубил ее на куски. Он запер двери дома Господа и устроил жертвенники на всех углах улиц Иерусалима.

And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of Jehovah; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

25 В каждом городе Иудеи он устроил святилища на возвышенностях, чтобы сжигать жертвы чужим богам, и тем самым, вызывая гнев Господа, Бога его отцов.

And in every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger Jehovah, the God of his fathers.

26 П рочие события его правления и все его деяния, от первых до последних, записаны в «Книге царей Иудеи и Израиля».

Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27 А хаз упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен в городе, в Иерусалиме, но не был положен в гробницы царей Израиля. Езекия, его сын, стал царем вместо него.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
