1 К огда Господь захотел вознести Илию на небо в вихре, Илия и Елисей шли из Гилгала.

And it came to pass, when Jehovah would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

2 И лия сказал Елисею: – Прошу, останься здесь; Господь посылает меня в Вефиль. Но Елисей сказал: – Верно, как и то, что Господь жив и жив ты сам – я не оставлю тебя! И они пошли в Вефиль.

And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for Jehovah hath sent me as far as Beth-el. And Elisha said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.

3 У ченики пророков из Вефиля вышли к Елисею и спросили: – Знаешь ли ты, что Господь возьмет от тебя сегодня твоего господина? – Знаю, – ответил он. – Молчите.

And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that Jehovah will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

4 И лия сказал ему: – Елисей, прошу, останься здесь; Господь посылает меня в Иерихон. Он ответил: – Верно, как и то, что жив Господь и жив ты сам – я не оставлю тебя! И они пошли в Иерихон.

And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for Jehovah hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

5 У ченики пророков из Иерихона подошли к Елисею и спросили его: – Знаешь ли ты, что сегодня Господь возьмет от тебя твоего господина? – Знаю, − ответил он. − Молчите.

And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that Jehovah will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

6 И лия сказал ему: – Прошу, останься здесь; Господь посылает меня к Иордану. Он ответил: – Верно, как и то, что Господь жив и жив ты сам – я не оставлю тебя! И они вместе пошли дальше.

And Elijah said unto him, Tarry here, I pray thee; for Jehovah hath sent me to the Jordan. And he said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

7 П ятьдесят человек из учеников пророков пришли и встали поодаль напротив них, когда оба они остановились у Иордана.

And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood over against them afar off: and they two stood by the Jordan.

8 И лия снял плащ, скатал его и ударил им по воде. Вода разомкнулась вправо и влево, и они оба переправились по сухой земле.

And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

9 К огда они переправились, Илия сказал Елисею: – Скажи, что мне для тебя сделать, прежде чем я буду взят от тебя? – Дай мне унаследовать твой дух в двойной мере, − ответил Елисей.

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

10 – Трудного просишь, − сказал Илия.– Если ты увидишь, как я буду взят от тебя, то случится по-твоему, а если нет, то не случится.

And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

11 К огда они еще шли и разговаривали, внезапно явились огненная колесница и огненные кони, разлучили их, и Илия вознесся в вихре на небо.

And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, which parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

12 Е лисей смотрел на это и кричал: – Отец мой! Отец мой! Колесница и конница Израиля! А когда он уже не мог его видеть, то взялся за одежду и разорвал ее.

And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof! And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

13 О н подобрал плащ, который упал с Илии, пошел назад и встал на берегу Иордана.

He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.

14 О н взял тот упавший плащ и ударил им по воде. – Где сейчас Господь, Бог Илии? − сказал он. Когда он ударил по воде, она разомкнулась вправо и влево, и он переправился через реку.

And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is Jehovah, the God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they were divided hither and thither; and Elisha went over.

15 У ченики пророков из Иерихона, которые видели это, сказали: – Дух Илии перешел на Елисея. Они вышли ему навстречу и поклонились до земли.

And when the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

16 – У твоих слуг есть пятьдесят крепких мужчин, − сказали они. − Позволь, они пойдут и поищут твоего господина. Может быть, Дух Господень подхватил его и бросил на одной из гор или в одной из долин? – Нет, – ответил Елисей. – Не посылайте их.

And they said unto him, Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master, lest the Spirit of Jehovah hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

17 Н о они настаивали, пока он не сдался и не сказал: – Пошлите их. И они послали пятьдесят мужчин, которые искали три дня, но не нашли его.

And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

18 К огда они вернулись к Елисею, который оставался в Иерихоне, он сказал им: – Разве я не говорил вам не ходить? Чудеса Елисея

And they came back to him, while he tarried at Jericho; and he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

19 Ж ители города сказали Елисею: – Господин, как ты видишь, этот город расположен хорошо, но вода тут плохая, и земля бесплодна.

And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, we pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is bad, and the land miscarrieth.

20 – Принесите мне новую чашу, – сказал он, – и положите в нее соли. Они принесли ему.

And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

21 О н вышел к источнику и бросил в него соль, говоря: – Так говорит Господь: «Я исцелил эту воду. Никогда впредь не будет от нее ни смерти, ни бесплодия».

And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or miscarrying.

22 И по сегодняшний день вода остается здоровой по слову, которое сказал Елисей.

So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spake.

23 О ттуда Елисей пошел в Вефиль. Когда он шел по дороге, из города вышли мальчики, которые стали смеяться над ним: – Возносись, лысый! – кричали они. – Возносись, лысый!

And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.

24 О н обернулся, посмотрел на них и проклял их во Имя Господа. Тогда из леса вышли две медведицы и растерзали из них сорок два мальчика.

And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Jehovah. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two lads of them.

25 А он пошел к горе Кармил и оттуда вернулся в Самарию.

And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
