1 С ын мой, если ты примешь мои слова и повеления мои сохранишь в себе,

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;

2 о братив свое ухо к мудрости и склонив свое сердце пониманию

So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

3 е сли будешь взывать о разуме и призывать понимание

Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;

4 е сли будешь искать его, как серебра, и разыскивать, словно клад,

If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:

5 т о поймешь, что такое страх перед Господом, и обретешь познание Бога.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

6 П отому что Господь дает мудрость, и из уст Его – знание и понимание.

For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding:

7 О н бережет победу для праведных; щит Он для тех, чей шаг непорочен.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

8 О н хранит стези справедливых и оберегает путь верных Ему.

That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints.

9 Т огда ты поймешь, что такое праведность, справедливость и честность – всякий добрый путь.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, yea, every good path.

10 М удрость войдет в твое сердце, и знание будет приятно твоей душе.

For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, And knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;

11 Р ассудительность охранит тебя, и понимание тебя сохранит.

Discretion shall watch over thee; Understanding shall keep thee:

12 М удрость спасет тебя от пути злодеев, от тех, чьи слова превратны,

To deliver thee from the way of evil, From the men that speak perverse things;

13 к то оставляет стези прямые, чтобы ходить по путям тьмы;

Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

14 о т тех, кто веселится, делая зло, и радуется извращенности зла,

Who rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;

15 ч ьи дороги кривы, и кто плутает по своим путям.

Who are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:

16 Т ак убережешься от чужой жены, от жены другого с ее обольщающими словами,

To deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

17 к оторая оставила супруга своей юности и забыла союз, что она заключила пред Богом.

That forsaketh the friend of her youth, And forgetteth the covenant of her God:

18 Д ом ее ведет к смерти, и пути ее – к духам умерших.

For her house inclineth unto death, And her paths unto the dead;

19 Н икто из идущих к ней не возвращается и не выходит уже на стези живых.

None that go unto her return again, Neither do they attain unto the paths of life:

20 Т ак ты будешь ходить по пути добрых, и хранить стези праведников,

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous.

21 в едь праведные будут жить на земле, и непорочные останутся на ней;

For the upright shall dwell in the land, And the perfect shall remain in it.

22 а нечестивые будут истреблены с земли, и неверные будут искоренены.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, And the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.
