James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are of the Dispersion, greeting.

2 Б ратья, когда вы сталкиваетесь с различного рода испытаниями, считайте это великой радостью.

Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;

3 В ы знаете, что испытание вашей веры вырабатывает стойкость,

Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.

4 а стойкость должна настолько возрасти в вас, чтобы вы стали зрелыми и цельными, без всяких недостатков.

And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

5 Е сли кому-то из вас недостает мудрости, пусть просит у Бога, Который, не упрекая, щедро наделяет ею всех, – и ему будет дано.

But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 Н о тот, кто просит, должен верить нисколько не сомневаясь, потому что сомневающийся похож на морскую волну, носимую и разбиваемую ветром.

But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting: for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.

7 П усть такой человек не рассчитывает получить что-либо от Господа.

For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord;

8 Э то двоедушный человек, нетвердый во всем, что бы он ни делал. Богатство не вечно

a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways.

9 Б рат из низшего сословия, на самом деле, может хвалиться своим высоким положением.

But let the brother of low degree glory in his high estate:

10 А богатый может хвалиться своим унижением, потому что он исчезнет, как полевой цветок.

and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

11 В осходит солнце и своим жаром сушит растение, его цветок опадает, и вся красота исчезает. Так же и богатый человек увянет за своими делами.

For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass: and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

12 Б лажен тот, кто, перенеся испытание, выдержит его до конца – он получит венец жизни, который Бог обещал всем, кто любит Его.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him.

13 К огда вас постигает искушение, не говорите: «Это Бог меня искушает». Бог Сам не может быть искушен злом и не искушает никого.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man:

14 К аждого человека искушают его же собственные желания, они увлекают и соблазняют его.

but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.

15 З атем желание зачинает и порождает грех, а совершенный грех порождает смерть.

Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death.

16 Л юбимые мои братья, не заблуждайтесь.

Be not deceived, my beloved brethren.

17 В се добрые и совершенные дары исходят свыше, от Отца светил, у Которого нет ни изменения, ни тени перемены.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning.

18 О н Сам по Своей воле родил нас словом истины, чтобы нам быть первыми плодами среди Его созданий. Слова и поступки

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19 Л юбимые мои братья, поймите: пусть каждый будет склонен скорее слушать, чем говорить или проявлять гнев.

Ye know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 В гневе человек не делает угодного Богу.

for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

21 П оэтому оставьте всякую нечистоту и остаток злобы и в кротости примите насаждаемое слово, которое имеет силу спасти ваши души.

Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 П ри этом будьте не только слушателями слова, но и исполнителями его, иначе вы просто обманываете себя.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.

23 К то слушает слово, но не исполняет его, тот похож на человека, который смотрит в зеркало:

For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:

24 о н посмотрел на себя и отошел, и сразу забыл, как выглядит.

for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 Н о человек, который постоянно вникает в совершенный Закон, Закон, дающий свободу, и поступает согласно ему, не забывая о том, что слышал, будет блажен в своих делах.

But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

26 К то считает себя благочестивым, но не может управлять своим языком, тот обманывает самого себя, и благочестие такого человека бесполезно.

If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain.

27 Ч истое и непорочное благочестие перед Богом, нашим Отцом, заключается в том, чтобы помогать сиротам и вдовам в их нуждах и хранить себя чистым от этого мира.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
