1 В ера – это уверенность в том, чего мы с надеждой ожидаем, подтверждение того, чего мы не видим.

Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.

2 Д ревные жили такой верой и заслужили одобрение.

For therein the elders had witness borne to them.

3 И менно верой мы понимаем, что вселенная была создана по повелению Бога и что все видимое было создано из невидимого.

By faith we understand that the worlds have been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen hath not been made out of things which appear.

4 В ерой Авель принес Богу жертву лучшую, чем Каин. Верой он заслужил одобрение как праведник, когда Бог похвалил его жертву. И, хотя Авель умер, он благодаря своей вере все еще говорит.

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had witness borne to him that he was righteous, God bearing witness in respect of his gifts: and through it he being dead yet speaketh.

5 Б лагодаря вере Енох был взят из этого мира, не увидев смерти. Его нигде не могли найти, потому что Бог взял его. Но до того, как он был взят, он заслужил одобрение как человек, угодивший Богу.

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and he was not found, because God translated him: for he hath had witness borne to him that before his translation he had been well-pleasing unto God:

6 Б ез веры же Богу угодить невозможно, потому что каждый, кто приходит к Нему, должен верить в то, что Он есть и что Он вознаграждает тех, кто Его ищет.

And without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.

7 В ерой Ной, получив предупреждение о том, чего еще нельзя было видеть, богобоязненно построил ковчег для спасения своей семьи. В результате мир был осужден, а Ной стал наследником праведности, которая приходит через веру.

By faith Noah, being warned of God concerning things not seen as yet, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

8 В ерой Авраам, призванный идти в землю, которую ему было обещано получить в будущем в наследие, подчинился и пошел, хотя он и сам не знал, куда идет.

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

9 В ерой он поселился в обещанной земле как чужеземец, живя в палатках, как и Исаак и Иаков, которые вместе с ним были наследниками согласно тому же обещанию,

By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

10 п отому что он ожидал города, стоящего на прочных основаниях, архитектор и строитель которого Сам Бог.

for he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

11 В ерой Авраам стал отцом, хотя и сама Сарра была бесплодна, и он был уже стар, – ведь он полагался на Того, Кто обещал ему.

By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:

12 И таким образом, от одного человека, тело которого состарилось, произошло столько людей, сколько звезд в небе и сколько песчинок на берегу моря.

wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable.

13 В се эти люди так и умерли, храня веру, не дождавшись того, что им было обещано. Они лишь издали видели и приветствовали все это. Они признавали, что на этой земле они всего лишь пришельцы и странники.

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14 Т е, кто считает себя таковыми, показывают тем самым, что они ищут свою истинную родину.

For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own.

15 Е сли бы они думали лишь о той стране, которую им пришлось покинуть, они могли бы в нее и возвратиться.

And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.

16 Н о на самом деле они стремятся к лучшей стране – к небесной. Поэтому Бог не стыдится называться их Богом, ведь Он приготовил для них город.

But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.

17 В ерой Авраам, когда Бог испытывал его, принес Исаака в жертву. Ему было дано обещание, и он готов был принести в жертву своего единственного сына,

By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac: yea, he that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;

18 и это невзирая на то, что Бог сказал ему: «Через Исаака ты будешь иметь потомство, которое Я тебе обещал».

even he to whom it was said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called:

19 А враам считал, что Бог может даже воскрешать из мертвых, и, образно говоря, Исаак был действительно возвращен ему из мертвых.

accounting that God is able to raise up, even from the dead; from whence he did also in a figure receive him back.

20 В ерой Исаак благословил будущее Иакова и Исава.

By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.

21 В ерой Иаков, находясь при смерти, благословил каждого из сыновей Иосифа и поклонился Богу, оперевшись на свой посох.

By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

22 В ерой Иосиф в конце своей жизни говорил о выходе израильтян из Египта и сделал распоряжение о своих собственных останках.

By faith Joseph, when his end was nigh, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

23 В ерой родители Моисея прятали его три месяца после того, как он родился, потому что они видели, что он был прекрасным ребенком, и их не напугал царский указ.

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw he was a goodly child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

24 В ерой Моисей, став взрослым, отказался называться сыном дочери фараона.

By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

25 О н предпочел лучше быть притесняемым вместе с народом Божьим, чем наслаждаться кратковременными греховными удовольствиями.

choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 О н видел, какая награда ждет его впереди, и поэтому унижение ради Христа для него было ценнее богатств Египта.

accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked unto the recompense of reward.

27 В ерой он вышел из Египта, не боясь гнева царя. Он вытерпел все как человек, который видел бы перед собой Невидимого.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

28 В ерой он совершил Пасху с окроплением дверных косяков кровью, чтобы губитель первенцев не прикоснулся к семьям израильтян.

By faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.

29 В ерой народ перешел Красное море как по суше; когда же египтяне попытались сделать то же самое, они утонули.

By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were swallowed up.

30 В ерой упали стены Иерихона после того, как семь дней подряд израильтяне обходили город.

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been compassed about for seven days.

31 В ерой блудница Раав, с миром приняв израильских лазутчиков, не была убита вместе с неверующими.

By faith Rahab the harlot perished not with them that were disobedient, having received the spies with peace.

32 Е сть ли нужда говорить больше? Время не позволяет мне рассказать о Гедеоне, Вараке, Самсоне, Иеффае, Давиде, Самуиле и пророках.

And what shall I more say? for the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets:

33 О ни верой покоряли царства, восстанавливали справедливость, получали обещанное, закрывали пасти львам,

who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

34 г асили яростное пламя, спасались от острия меча. Их слабость становилась силой, они были крепкими в битве и обращали в бегство чужеземные армии.

quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens.

35 К женщинам возвращались их умершие близкие, воскрешенные к жизни. Другие были замучены до смерти, отказавшись от предложенной им свободы. Они ожидали воскресения к лучшей жизни.

Women received their dead by a resurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36 И ные терпели насмешки и побои, а также цепи и тюрьму.

and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 И х побивали камнями, распиливали надвое, убивали мечом, им приходилось скитаться в овечьих и козьих шкурах, они были в нужде, их преследовали и над ними издевались.

they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated

38 Т е, кого весь мир не был достоин, скитались по пустыням, горам, пещерам и ущельям.

(of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth.

39 В се они получили одобрение Бога за свою веру, но ни один из них при жизни не получил того, что было обещано,

And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise,

40 п отому что и для нас Бог предусмотрел нечто лучшее, чтобы и мы вместе с ними достигли совершенства.

God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
