1 M eu filho, se você aceitar as minhas palavras e guardar no coração os meus mandamentos;

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;

2 s e der ouvidos à sabedoria e inclinar o coração para o discernimento;

So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

3 s e clamar por entendimento e por discernimento gritar bem alto;

Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;

4 s e procurar a sabedoria como se procura a prata e buscá-la como quem busca um tesouro escondido,

If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:

5 e ntão você entenderá o que é temer o Senhor e achará o conhecimento de Deus.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

6 P ois o Senhor é quem dá sabedoria; de sua boca procedem o conhecimento e o discernimento.

For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding:

7 E le reserva a sensatez para o justo; como um escudo protege quem anda com integridade,

He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

8 p ois guarda a vereda do justo e protege o caminho de seus fiéis.

That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints.

9 E ntão você entenderá o que é justo, direito e certo, e aprenderá os caminhos do bem.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, yea, every good path.

10 P ois a sabedoria entrará em seu coração, e o conhecimento será agradável à sua alma.

For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, And knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;

11 O bom senso o guardará, e o discernimento o protegerá.

Discretion shall watch over thee; Understanding shall keep thee:

12 A sabedoria o livrará do caminho dos maus, dos homens de palavras perversas,

To deliver thee from the way of evil, From the men that speak perverse things;

13 q ue abandonam as veredas retas para andarem por caminhos de trevas,

Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

14 t êm prazer em fazer o mal, exultam com a maldade dos perversos,

Who rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;

15 a ndam por veredas tortuosas e no caminho se extraviam.

Who are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:

16 E la também o livrará da mulher imoral, da pervertida que seduz com suas palavras,

To deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

17 q ue abandona aquele que desde a juventude foi seu companheiro e ignora a aliança que fez diante de Deus.

That forsaketh the friend of her youth, And forgetteth the covenant of her God:

18 A mulher imoral se dirige para a morte, que é a sua casa, e os seus caminhos levam às sombras.

For her house inclineth unto death, And her paths unto the dead;

19 O s que a procuram jamais voltarão, nem tornarão a encontrar as veredas da vida.

None that go unto her return again, Neither do they attain unto the paths of life:

20 A sabedoria o fará andar nos caminhos dos homens de bem e a manter-se nas veredas dos justos.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous.

21 P ois os justos habitarão na terra, e os íntegros nela permanecerão;

For the upright shall dwell in the land, And the perfect shall remain in it.

22 m as os ímpios serão eliminados da terra, e dela os infiéis serão arrancados.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, And the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.
