1 ¶ So these three men ceased to answer Job because he was righteous in his own eyes.

І перестали ті троє мужів відповідати Йову, бо він був справедливий в очах своїх.

2 T hen the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was kindled; against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

І запалився гнів Елігу, сина Барах'їлового, бузянина, з роду Рамового, на Йова запалився гнів його за те, що той уважав душу свою справедливішою за Бога.

3 A lso against his three friends was his wrath kindled because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

Також на трьох приятелів його запалився його гнів за те, що не знайшли вони відповіді, а зробили тільки Йова винним.

4 N ow Elihu had waited until Job had spoken because they were all elder than he.

А Елігу вичікував Йова та їх із словами, бо вони були старші віком за нього.

5 B ut when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

І побачив Елігу, що нема належної відповіді в устах тих трьох людей, і запалився його гнів!

6 ¶ And Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, answered and said, I am younger, and ye are older; therefore, I was afraid, and I feared to declare unto you my opinion.

І відповів бузянин Елігу, син Барах'їлів, та й сказав: Молодий я літами, ви ж старші, тому то я стримувався та боявся знання своє висловити вам.

7 I said, Days shall speak, and the multitude of years shall declare wisdom.

Я подумав: Хай вік промовляє, і хай розуму вчить многоліття!

8 C ertainly there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

Справді, дух він у людині, та Всемогутнього подих їх мудрими чинить.

9 G reat men are not always wise; neither do the aged understand judgment.

Многолітні не завжди розумні, і не все розуміються в праві старі.

10 T herefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will declare my knowledge.

Тому я кажу: Послухай мене, хай знання своє висловлю й я!

11 B ehold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your arguments, while ye searched out what to say.

Тож слів ваших вичікував я, наставляв свої уші до вашої мудрости, поки справу ви дослідите.

12 E ven so, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you to reprove Job or to answer his words.

І я приглядався до вас, й ось немає між вами, хто б Йову довів, хто б відповідь дав на слова його!

13 L est ye should say, We have found out wisdom; it is needful that God thrust him down, and not man.

Щоб ви не сказали: Ми мудрість знайшли: не людина, а Бог переможе його!

14 N ow he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your reasons.

Не на мене слова він скеровував, і я не відповім йому мовою вашою.

15 ¶ They were amazed, they answered no more; they left off speaking.

Полякались вони, вже не відповідають, не мають вже слів...

16 A nd I waited, (for they did not speak, but stopped, and answered no more);

Я чекав, що не будуть вони говорити, що спинились, не відповідають уже.

17 I said, I will also answer my part, I will also declare my opinion.

Відповім також я свою частку, і висловлю й я свою думку.

18 F or I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.

Бо я повний словами, дух мойого нутра докучає мені...

19 B ehold, my belly is as wine which has no vent; it is ready to burst forth like spirits.

Ось утроба моя, мов вино невідкрите, вона тріскається, як нові бурдюки!

20 I will speak, that I may be able to breathe; I will open my lips and answer.

Нехай я скажу й буде легше мені, нехай уста відкрию свої й відповім!

21 I will not now be a respecter of persons, neither will I give flattering titles unto man.

На особу не буду уваги звертати, не буду підлещуватись до людини,

22 F or I do not know how to give flattering titles; otherwise my maker would soon take me away.

бо не вмію підлещуватись! Коли ж ні, нехай зараз візьме мене мій Творець!
