1 ¶ Then Joshua called the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh

Тоді покликав Ісус племено Рувимове та Ґадове, та половину Манасіїного племени,

2 a nd said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the slave of the LORD commanded you and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you.

та й сказав їм: Ви виконували все, що вам наказав був раб Господній Мойсей, і ви слухалися голосу мого про все, що я вам наказував.

3 Y e have not left your brethren these many days unto this day but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

Ви оце не лишали братів своїх довгі дні аж до цього дня, і ви додержували виконання заповідей Господа, Бога вашого.

4 A nd now the LORD your God has given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them; therefore now return and go to your tents and unto the land of your possessions which Moses the slave of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan.

А тепер Господь, Бог ваш, дав мир вашим братам, як вам говорив був. І тепер поверніться, та й ідіть собі до наметів своїх, до краю вашої власности, що вам дав Мойсей, раб Господній, на тім боці Йордану.

5 O nly that with diligence ye keep yourselves doing the commandment and the law, which Moses, the slave of the LORD, charged you: to love the LORD your God and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cleave unto him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Тільки дуже пильнуйте виконувати заповідь та Закона, що наказав був вам Мойсей, раб Господній: любити Господа, Бога вашого, і ходити всіма Його дорогами, і додержувати Його заповіді, і линути до Нього, і служити Йому всім вашим серцем та всією вашою душею.

6 S o Joshua, blessing them, sent them; and they went unto their tents.

І поблагословив їх Ісус, та й послав їх, а вони пішли до наметів своїх.

7 N ow to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh, Moses had given possession in Bashan; but unto the other half Joshua gave inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And Joshua also sent these to their tents, after having blessed them,

А половині Манасіїного племени Мойсей дав у Башані, а половині його дав Ісус з їхніми братами на цім боці Йордану на захід. І також, коли Ісус відпускав їх до їхніх наметів, то поблагословив їх,

8 A nd he spoke unto them, saying, Return with great riches unto your tents and with a great amount of cattle with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

та й сказав до них, говорячи: Верніться до своїх наметів із великими маєтками та з дуже численною худобою, зо сріблом, і з золотом, і з міддю, і з залізом, і з дуже багатьома одежами. Поділіть здобич від ваших ворогів із вашими братами.

9 A nd the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, departing from the sons of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, of which they were the possessors, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

І вернулися, і пішли сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени від Ізраїлевих синів, із Шіло, що в ханаанському Краї, щоб піти до краю Ґілеад, до краю своєї власности, що посіли його на наказ Господній через Мойсея.

10 ¶ And when they came unto the borders of the Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built an altar there next to the Jordan, a great altar to look upon.

І прийшли до йорданських могил, що в ханаанському Краї, і збудували там сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени жертівника над Йорданом, жертівника великого на вид.

11 A nd the sons of Israel heard it said, Behold, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of the Jordan, at the passage of the sons of Israel.

І почули Ізраїлеві сини таке: Оце збудували сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени жертівника навпроти ханаанського Краю, при йорданських могилах, на боці Ізраїлевих синів.

12 A nd when the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.

І почули це Ізраїлеві сини, і була зібрана вся громада Ізраїлевих синів до Шіло, щоб піти на них війною.

13 A nd the sons of Israel sent unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest,

І послали Ізраїлеві сини до синів Рувимових і до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени ґілеадського краю Пінхаса, сина священика Елеазара,

14 a nd with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was the head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

та з ним десять начальників, по одному начальникові для батькового дому з усіх Ізраїлевих племен; а кожен із них голова дому їхніх батьків, вони для тисяч Ізраїлевих.

15 A nd they came unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh unto the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,

І прийшли вони до синів Рувимових й до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени до ґілеадського краю, та й говорили з ними, кажучи:

16 T hus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD in that ye have built an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?

Так сказала вся Господня громада: Що це за переступ, що ви спроневірилися ним проти Ізраїлевого Бога, щоб відвернутись сьогодні від Господа? Бо ви збудували собі жертівника, щоб сьогодні збунтуватися проти Господа.

17 I s the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, for which there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD?

Чи нам мало Пеорового гріха, з якого ми не очистилися аж до цього дня, і була пораза в Господній громаді?

18 A nd ye turn away this day from following the LORD; and it will be, seeing ye rebel today against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

А ви відвертаєтеся сьогодні від Господа. І станеться, ви збунутуєтеся сьогодні проти Господа, а Він узавтра розгнівається на всю Ізраїлеву громаду.

19 I f the land of your possession seems unto you to be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, in which the LORD’s tabernacle dwells and take possession among us; but do not rebel against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building yourselves an altar in addition to the altar of the LORD our God.

І справді, якщо край вашої посілости нечистий, перейдіть собі до Краю Господньої посілости, що там пробуває Господня скинія, і візьміть посілість серед нас, а на Господа не бунтуйтеся, і не бунтуйтеся проти нас вашим збудуванням собі жертівника, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого.

20 P eradventure did Achan, the son of Zerah, not commit a trespass in the anathema, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity.

Чи ж не Ахан, син Зерахів, спроневірився був переступом у заклятому, а гнів був на всю Ізраїлеву громаду? І він був єдиний чоловік, що не помер своєю смертю через свій гріх.

21 ¶ Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,

І відповіли сини Рувимові, сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени, і говорили з головами тисяч Ізраїлевих:

22 T he LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knows and let Israel also know; if it is in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD (save us not this day)

Бог богів Господь, Бог богів Господь, Він знає, і Ізраїль він буде знати. Не пощади нас цього дня, якщо бунтом і якщо переступом проти Господа ми це зробили,

23 t hat we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD or if to offer thereon burnt offering or present or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;

якщо ми збудували собі жертівника на відвернення від Господа; а якщо ми будували на принесення цілопалення та жертви хлібної, і якщо на спорядження на ньому мирних жертов, то Господь Він відплатить,

24 l ikewise, if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, Peradventure tomorrow your children shall speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?

і якщо ми не зробили цього з обавою про таку річ, говорячи: Завтра скажуть ваші сини до наших синів, говорячи: Що вам до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого?

25 T he LORD has put the Jordan for a border between us and you, O sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD, so shall your sons make our sons cease from fearing the LORD.

Бо Господь дав границю поміж нами та поміж вами, сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові, Йордан, нема вам наділу в Господі! І ваші сини відірвуть наших синів від боязні Господа.

26 T herefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice,

Тож сказали ми: Зробім собі, збудуймо жертівника не на цілопалення й не на жертву,

27 b ut that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

але щоб він був свідком між нами та між вами, і між поколіннями нашими по нас, що ми служили служби Господні перед Його лицем нашими цілопаленнями, і нашими жертвами, і нашими жертвами мирними. І не скажуть ваші сини взавтра до наших синів: нема вам наділу в Господі!

28 T herefore we said, that it shall be, if they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may reply, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you.

І сказали ми: І станеться, коли так скажуть до нас та до наших поколінь узавтра, то ми скажемо: Подивіться на вигляд жертівника, що зробили були наші батьки не на цілопалення й не на жертву, але щоб був він свідком між нами та між вами.

29 L et it never happen that we should rebel against the LORD or that we should turn today from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for presents, or for sacrifices, in addition to the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.

Борони нас, Боже, бунтуватися нам проти Господа, і відвертатися сьогодні від Господа, щоб будувати жертівника на цілопалення, і на жертву хлібну, і на жертву, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого, що перед скинією Його.

30 ¶ And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.

І почув священик Пінхас та начальники громади й голови тисяч Ізраїлевих, що були з ним, ті слова, що казали сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та сини Манасіїні, і було це добре в їхніх очах.

31 A nd Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, said unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us because ye have not intended to trespass against the LORD. Now ye have delivered the sons of Israel from the wrath of the LORD.

І сказав Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, до синів Рувимових, і до синів Ґадових та до синів Манасіїних: Сьогодні ми пізнали, що Господь серед вас, що ви не спроневірилися Господеві тим переступом, тепер ви визволили Ізраїлевих синів від Господньої руки.

32 A nd Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the sons of Israel and brought them word again.

І вернувся Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, та начальники від синів Рувимових, і від синів Ґадових з ґілеадського краю до Краю ханаанського до Ізраїлевих синів, і здали їм звіт.

33 A nd the thing pleased the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel blessed God and did not speak again of going up against them in battle to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and Gad dwelt.

І була добра та річ в очах синів Ізраїлевих. І поблагословили Бога Ізраїлеві сини, і не сказали йти на них війною, щоб знищити край, що сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові сидять у ньому.

34 A nd the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Ed; for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.

І назвали сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові ім'я жертівникові: Ед, бо він свідок між нами, що Господь Він Бог.
