1 ¶ Hiram, king of Tyre, also sent his slaves unto Solomon when he heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father; for Hiram had always loved David.

(5-15) І послав Хірам, цар Тиру, своїх слуг до Соломона, бо почув, що його помазали на царя на місце батька його, бо Хірам був приятелем Давидовим по всі дні.

2 T hen Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

(5-16) І послав Соломон до Хірама, говорячи:

3 T hou knowest how David, my father, could not build a house unto the name of the LORD his God, for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put his enemies under the soles of his feet.

(5-17) Ти знаєш мого батька Давида, що не міг він збудувати дому для Імени Господа, Бога свого, через війни, що оточували його, аж поки Господь не віддав їх, ворогів, під стопи ніг його.

4 N ow the LORD my God has given me rest on every side so that there is neither adversary nor evil encounter.

(5-18) А тепер Господь, Бог мій, дав мені відпочинок навколо, нема противника, і нема злого випадку.

5 A nd, therefore, I have determined to build a house unto the name of the LORD my God as the LORD spoke unto David, my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy place, he shall build a house unto my name.

(5-19) І ото я маю на думці збудувати дім Імени Господа, Бога мого, як Господь говорив був моєму батькові Давидові, кажучи: Син твій, якого дам замість тебе на трон твій, він збудує той дім для Ймення Мого.

6 C ommand, therefore, now that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon, and my slaves shall be with thy slaves, and I will give thee for thy slaves the hire that thou shalt appoint, for thou knowest that there is no one among us with the skill to hew timber like the Sidonians.

(5-20) А тепер накажи, і нехай зітнуть мені кедри з Ливану, а раби мої будуть із рабами твоїми, а в нагороду за твоїх рабів я дам тобі все, що скажеш, бо ти знаєш, що серед нас немає нікого, хто вмів би стинати дерева, як сидоняни.

7 A nd it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, who has given unto David a wise son over this great people.

(5-21) І сталося, як почув Хірам Соломонові слова, то дуже зрадів та й сказав: Благословенний Господь сьогодні, що дав Давидові мудрого сина над цим великим народом!

8 A nd Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou didst send to tell me, and I will do all thy desire concerning the timber of cedar and concerning the timber of fir.

(5-22) І послав Хірам до Соломона, говорячи: Почув я про те, про що посилав ти до мене. Я виконаю все бажання твоє, щодо дерева кедрового та дерева кипарисового.

9 M y slaves shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea, and I will convey them by sea in rafts unto the place that thou shalt appoint me and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

(5-23) Мої раби спустять із Ливану до моря, а я їх поскладаю в плоти, і відправлю морем аж до місця, про яке пошлеш мені звістку, і порозбиваю їх там, і ти забереш. А ти виконаєш моє бажання, дати хліба для мого дому.

10 ¶ So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

(5-24) І давав Хірам Соломонові дерева кедрові та дерева кипарисові, усе за бажанням його.

11 A nd Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household and twenty thousand measures of pure oil; this gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

(5-25) А Соломон давав Хірамові двадцять тисяч корів пшениці, живність для дому його, та двадцять тисяч корів товченої оливи. Так давав Соломон Хірамові рік-у-рік.

12 A nd the LORD gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two made a covenant together.

(5-26) А Господь дав Соломонові мудрість, як обіцяв був йому. І був мир між Хірамом та між Соломоном, і обидва вони склали умову.

13 A nd king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel, and the levy was thirty thousand men,

(5-27) А Соломон зібрав данину робітників зо всього Ізраїля, і була та данина тридцять тисяч чоловіка.

14 w hom he sent to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; they were a month in Lebanon and two months at home; and Adoniram was over the levy.

(5-28) І він посилав їх до Ливану, по десять тисяч на місяць, напереміну: місяць були вони на Ливані, два місяці у домі своїм; а Адонірам доглядав над робітниками.

15 A nd Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains;

(5-29) І було в Соломона сімдесят тисяч тягарових носіїв та вісімдесят тисяч ламачів у горах,

16 b esides Solomon’s chief officers who were over the work, there were three thousand three hundred who ruled over the people that did the work.

(5-30) окрім трьох тисяч і трьох сотень керівників, що настановив Соломон над працею, вони правили над народом, що робили працю.

17 A nd the king commanded that they bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the house, and hewed stones.

(5-31) І цар наказав, і вони ламали велике каміння, каміння дороге, щоб закласти дім із тесаного каміння.

18 A nd Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders hewed them, and the stonesquarers; so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

(5-32) І їх отесували будівничі Соломонові й будівничі Хірамові та ґівляни, і наготовили дерева та каміння на збудування храму.
