1 ¶ And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

Почули ж апостоли й браття, що в Юдеї були, що й погани прийняли Слово Боже.

2 W hen Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him,

І, як Петро повернувся до Єрусалиму, з ним стали змагатися ті, хто з обрізання,

3 s aying, Why didst thou go in to men uncircumcised and eat with them?

кажучи: Чого ти ходив до людей необрізаних та споживав із ними?

4 B ut Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

Петро ж розпочав і їм розповів за порядком, говорячи:

5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a rapture of understanding I saw a vision: A certain vessel descended like a great sheet let down from heaven by the four corners, and it came unto me,

Був я в місті йоппійськім і молився, і бачив в захопленні видіння: якась посудина сходила, немов простирало велике, яка, за чотири кінці прив'язана, спускалася з неба й підійшла аж до мене.

6 u pon which when I had fastened my eyes, I considered and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and reptiles and fowls of the air.

Зазирнувши до неї, я поглянув, і побачив там чотириногих землі, і звірів, і гаддя, і небесних пташок.

7 A nd I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter, slay and eat.

І голос почув я, що мені промовляв: Устань, Петре, заколи та й їж!

8 B ut I said, Not so, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has at any time entered into my mouth.

А я відказав: Жадним способом, Господи, бо ніколи нічого огидного чи то нечистого в уста мої не ввіходило!

9 B ut the voice answered me again from heaven, What God has cleansed, do not call common.

І відповів мені голос із неба вдруге: Що від Бога очищене, не вважай за огидне того!

10 A nd this was done three times, and it was all drawn up again into heaven.

І це сталося тричі, і все знов було взяте на небо.

11 A nd, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.

І ось три чоловіки, посланці з Кесарії до мене, перед домом, де був я, спинилися зараз.

12 A nd the Spirit bade me go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:

І сказав мені Дух іти з ними без жадного сумніву. Зо мною ж пішли й оці шестеро браття, і ввійшли ми до дому того чоловіка.

13 A nd he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, who stood and said unto him, Send to Joppa and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter,

І він нам розповів, як у домі своїм бачив Ангола, який став і сказав: Пошли до Йоппії, та приклич того Симона, що зветься Петром,

14 w ho shall tell thee words, by which thou and all thy house shall be saved.

він слова тобі скаже, якими спасешся і ти, і ввесь дім твій.

15 A nd as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

А як я промовляв, злинув на них Святий Дух, як спочатку й на нас.

16 T hen I remembered the word of the Lord, when he said, John indeed baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

І я згадав слово Господнє, як Він говорив: Іван ось водою христив, ви ж охрищені будете Духом Святим.

17 S o then, if God gave them the same gift as he did unto us, who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I should withstand God?

Отож, коли Бог дав однаковий дар їм, як і нам, що ввірували в Господа Ісуса Христа, то хто ж я такий, щоб міг заперечити Богові?

18 W hen they heard these things, they were silent and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.

І, почувши таке, замовкли вони, і Бога хвалили, говорячи: Отож, і поганам Бог дав покаяння в життя!

19 ¶ Now those who were scattered abroad by the tribulation that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice and Cyprus and Antioch, preaching the word to no one except only unto the Jews.

А ті, хто розпорошився від переслідування, що знялося було через Степана, перейшли навіть до Фінікії, і Кіпру, і Антіохії, не звістуючи слова нікому, крім юдеїв.

20 A nd some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they came into Antioch, spoke unto the Greeks, preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus.

А між ними були мужі деякі з Кіпру та з Кірінеї, що до Антіохії прийшли, і промовляли й до греків, благовістячи про Господа Ісуса.

21 A nd the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned unto the Lord.

І Господня рука була з ними; і велике число їх увірувало, і навернулось до Господа!

22 T hen tidings of these things came unto the ears of the congregation which was in Jerusalem, and they sent forth Barnabas that he should go unto Antioch.

І вістка про них досягла до вух єрусалимської Церкви, і до Антіохії послали Варнаву.

23 W ho, when he came and had seen the grace of God, was glad and exhorted them all to remain in their purpose of heart in the Lord.

А він, як прийшов і благодать Божу побачив, звеселився, і всіх став просити, щоб серцем рішучим трималися Господа.

24 F or he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and many people were added unto the Lord.

Бо він добрий був муж, повний Духа Святого та віри. І прилучилось багато народу до Господа!

25 T hen Barnabas departed to Tarsus to seek Saul, and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch.

Після того подався Варнава до Тарсу, щоб Савла шукати.

26 A nd it came to pass that for a whole year they gathered themselves together with the congregation and taught many people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

А знайшовши, привів в Антіохію. І збирались у Церкві вони цілий рік, і навчали багато народу, і в Антіохії найперш християнами названо учнів.

27 ¶ And in those days prophets came down from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

Прибули ж тими днями пророки від Єрусалиму до Антіохії.

28 A nd one of them named Agabus stood up and signified by the Spirit that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

І встав один з них, на ймення Агав, і Духом прорік, що голод великий у цілому світі настане, як за Клавдія був.

29 T hen the disciples, each one according to what he had, determined to send relief unto the brethren who dwelt in Judea,

Тоді учні, усякий із своєї спроможности, постановили послати допомогу братам, що в Юдеї жили.

30 w hich they likewise did and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Що й зробили, через руки Варнави та Савла, пославши до старших.
