1 ¶ And it came to pass that when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan;

І сталось, як Ісус закінчив ці слова, то Він вирушив із Галілеї, і прибув до країни Юдейської, на той бік Йордану.

2 a nd a great multitude followed him, and he healed them there.

А за Ним ішла безліч народу, і Він уздоровив їх тут.

3 ¶ Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

І підійшли фарисеї до Нього, і, випробовуючи, запитали Його: Чи дозволено дружину свою відпускати з причини всякої?

4 A nd he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female?

А Він відповів і сказав: Чи ви не читали, що Той, Хто створив споконвіку людей, створив їх чоловіком і жінкою?

5 A nd said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.

І сказав: Покине тому чоловік батька й матір, і пристане до дружини своєї, і стануть обоє вони одним тілом,

6 T herefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.

тому то немає вже двох, але одне тіло. Тож, що Бог спарував, людина нехай не розлучує!

7 T hey say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a bill of divorce and to put her away?

Вони кажуть Йому: А чому ж Мойсей заповів дати листа розводового, та й відпускати?

8 H e said unto them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, suffered you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

Він говорить до них: То за ваше жорстокосердя дозволив Мойсей відпускати дружин ваших, спочатку ж так не було.

9 A nd I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication and shall marry another, commits adultery, and whosoever marries her that is put away commits adultery.

А Я вам кажу: Хто дружину відпустить свою не з причини перелюбу, і одружиться з іншою, той чинить перелюб. І хто одружиться з розведеною, той чинить перелюб.

10 H is disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.

Учні говорять Йому: Коли справа така чоловіка із дружиною, то не добре одружуватись.

11 B ut he said unto them, Everyone cannot receive this word, except those unto whom it is given.

А Він їм відказав: Це слово вміщають не всі, але ті, кому дано.

12 F or there are some eunuchs who were so born from their mother’s womb; and there are some eunuchs who were made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs because of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

Бо бувають скопці, що з утроби ще матерньої народилися так; є й скопці, що їх люди оскопили, і є скопці, що самі оскопили себе ради Царства Небесного. Хто може вмістити, нехай вмістить.

13 ¶ Then were there brought unto him little children that he should put his hands on them and pray, and the disciples rebuked them.

Тоді привели Йому діток, щоб поклав на них руки, і за них помолився, учні ж їм докоряли.

14 B ut Jesus said, Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of the heavens.

Ісус же сказав: Пустіть діток, і не бороніть їм приходити до Мене, бо Царство Небесне належить таким.

15 A nd he laid his hands on them and departed from there.

І Він руки на них поклав, та й пішов звідтіля.

16 ¶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?

І підійшов ось один, і до Нього сказав: Учителю Добрий, що маю зробити я доброго, щоб мати життя вічне?

17 A nd he said unto him, Why dost thou call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God, but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Він же йому відказав: Чого звеш Мене Добрим? Ніхто не є Добрий, крім Бога Самого. Коли ж хочеш ввійти до життя, то виконай заповіді.

18 H e said unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Той питає Його: Які саме? А Ісус відказав: Не вбивай, не чини перелюбу, не кради, не свідкуй неправдиво.

19 H onour thy father and thy mother, and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Шануй батька та матір, і: Люби свого ближнього, як самого себе.

20 T he young man said unto him, All these things I have kept from my youth up; what do I lack?

Говорить до Нього юнак: Це я виконав все. Чого ще бракує мені?

21 J esus said unto him, If thou desire to be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

Ісус каже йому: Коли хочеш бути досконалим, піди, продай добра свої та й убогим роздай, і матимеш скарб ти на небі. Потому приходь та й іди вслід за Мною.

22 B ut when the young man heard that word, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Почувши ж юнак таке слово, відійшов, зажурившись, бо великі маєтки він мав.

23 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is difficult that a rich man shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

Ісус же сказав Своїм учням: Поправді кажу вам, що багатому трудно ввійти в Царство Небесне.

24 A nd again I say unto you, It is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Іще вам кажу: Верблюдові легше пройти через голчине вушко, ніж багатому в Боже Царство ввійти!

25 B ut his disciples hearing these things were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

Як учні ж Його це зачули, здивувалися дуже й сказали: Хто ж тоді може спастися?

26 B ut Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

А Ісус позирнув і сказав їм: Неможливе це людям, та можливе все Богові.

27 T hen Peter answered and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

Тоді відізвався Петро та до Нього сказав: От усе ми покинули, та й пішли за Тобою слідом; що ж нам буде за це?

28 A nd Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

А Ісус відказав їм: Поправді кажу вам, що коли, при відновленні світу, Син Людський засяде на престолі слави Своєї, тоді сядете й ви, що за Мною пішли, на дванадцять престолів, щоб судити дванадцять племен Ізраїлевих.

29 A nd every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life.

І кожен, хто за Ймення Моє кине дім, чи братів, чи сестер, або батька, чи матір, чи діти, чи землі, той багатокротно одержить і успадкує вічне життя.

30 B ut many that are first shall be last, and many of the last shall be first.

І багато-хто з перших останніми стануть, а останні першими.
