1 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

(17-16) І Господь промовляв до Мойсея, говорячи:

2 S peak unto the sons of Israel and take of each of them a rod according to the houses of their fathers, of all their princes, twelve rods according to the houses of their fathers, and write thou each man’s name upon his rod.

(17-17) Промовляй до Ізраїлевих синів, і візьми від них по одній палиці для батьківського дому, від усіх їхніх начальників для дому їхніх батьків, дванадцять палиць; і напиши ймення кожного на палиці його.

3 A nd thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi, for each head of family of their fathers shall have one rod.

(17-18) А Ааронове ймення напишеш на Левієвій палиці, бо одна палиця для голови дому батьків їх.

4 A nd thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the testimony, before the testimony, where I will testify of myself unto you.

(17-19) І покладеш їх у скинії заповіту перед ковчегом свідоцтва, де Я, за умовою, буду являтися вам.

5 A nd it shall come to pass regarding the man whom I shall choose that his rod shall blossom; and I will resolve the complaints of the sons of Israel, with which they murmur against you.

(17-20) І станеться, той чоловік, що Я виберу його, його палиця зацвіте. І Я відхилю від Себе нарікання Ізраїлевих синів, що вони нарікають на вас.

6 A nd Moses spoke unto the sons of Israel, and all their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

(17-21) І Мойсей промовляв до Ізраїлевих синів, і дали йому всі їхні начальники по палиці від кожного начальника для дому їхніх батьків, дванадцять палиць. А палиця Ааронова серед їхніх палиць.

7 A nd Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of the testimony.

(17-22) І поклав Мойсей ті палиці перед Господнім лицем у скинії заповіту.

8 ¶ And it came to pass that on the next day Moses went into the tabernacle of the testimony; and, behold, the rod of Aaron of the house of Levi had budded and blossomed and brought forth open flowers and yielded almonds.

(17-23) І сталося назавтра, і ввійшов Мойсей до скинії заповіту, аж ось зацвіла Ааронова палиця для Левієвого дому, і пустила пуп'янки, і зацвіла квіткою, і випустила дозрілі мигдалі!

9 T hen Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the sons of Israel; and they looked, and each one took his rod.

(17-24) І виніс Мойсей усі ті палиці з-перед Господнього лиця до всіх Ізраїлевих синів, і вони побачили, і взяли кожен свою палицю.

10 A nd the LORD said unto Moses, Return Aaron’s rod before the testimony to be kept for a sign unto the rebellious sons; and thou shalt cause their complaints to cease from upon me, that they not die.

(17-25) І сказав Господь до Мойсея: Верни Ааронову палицю до ковчегу свідоцтва, щоб берегти на ознаку для неслухняних синів, і спиниш їхні нарікання проти Мене, щоб не повмирали вони.

11 A nd Moses did as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

(17-26) І зробив так Мойсей, як Господь наказав був йому, так він і зробив.

12 T hen the sons of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying, Behold, we are dead, we are lost, we are all lost.

(17-27) І сказали Ізраїлеві сини до Мойсея, говорячи: Тож ми повмираємо, погинемо, усі ми погинемо!

13 A nyone who comes near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die; shall we all perish?

(17-28) Кожен, хто наблизиться до Господньої скинії, помре. Чи ж ми дорешти вимремо?
