1 ¶ Woe to those that go down to Egypt for help; and trust in horses and place their hope in chariots because they are many and in horsemen, because they are valiant, but they did not look unto the Holy One of Israel, neither did they seek the LORD!

Горе тим, що в Єгипет по поміч ідуть, що на коней спираються, і на колесниці надію свою покладають, вони бо численні! та на верхівців, бо вони дуже сильні! але на Святого Ізраїлевого не дивляться, і до Господа не звертаються!

2 Y et he also is wise to guide evil and will not cause his words to lie but will arise against the house of the evildoers and against the help of those that work iniquity.

Та мудрий і Він, і спровадить лихе, і Своїх слів не відмінить, і підійметься Він проти дому безбожних, і проти помочі несправедливих.

3 N ow the Egyptian is a man, and not God, and his horses flesh, and not spirit, so that as the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helps shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they shall all fail together.

А Єгипет не Бог, а людина, а коні їхні тіло, не дух: як простягне Господь Свою руку, то спіткнеться помагач, впаде і підпомаганий, і разом вони всі погинуть!

4 F or thus has the LORD spoken unto me, Like the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, even if a multitude of shepherds come forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voices, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of the hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion and for his hill.

Бо до мене Господь сказав так: Як муркає лев чи левчук над своєю здобиччю, хоч покликана буде на нього юрба пастухів, він голосу їхнього не лякається, та не боїться їхнього крику, так зійде Господь Саваот воювати на Сіонській горі та на взгір'ї її!

5 A s birds flying, so will the LORD of the hosts defend Jerusalem; defending, delivering, passing over, and saving it.

Як птахи летючі пташат, так Єрусалима Господь Саваот охоронить, охоронить літаючи, та збереже, пощадить та врятує!

6 ¶ Turn ye unto him against whom ye have deeply revolted, O sons of Israel.

Верніться до Того, від Кого далеко відпали, синове Ізраїлеві!

7 F or in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you as a sin.

Бо дня того обридить собі чоловік божків срібних своїх та бовванів своїх золотих, що вам наробили на гріх руки ваші.

8 T hen the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the presence of the sword, and his young men shall faint.

І Ашшур упаде від меча того нелюда, і його пожере меч нелюдський; і він побіжить не перед мечем, і стануть його юнаки кріпаками...

9 A nd he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith the LORD, unto whom there is fire in Zion, and unto whom there is a furnace in Jerusalem.

А скеля його проминеться від страху, і владики його затривожаться перед прапором... Так говорить Господь, що має огонь на Сіоні, а в Єрусалимі у Нього горнило.
