1 T he plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

Заміри серця належать людині, та від Господа відповідь язика.

2 A ll the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.

Всі дороги людини чисті в очах її, та зважує душі Господь.

3 C ommit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established.

Поклади свої чини на Господа, і будуть поставлені міцно думки твої.

4 J ehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Все Господь учинив ради цілей Своїх, і безбожного на днину зла.

5 E very one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Огида для Господа всякий бундючний, ручуся: не буде такий без вини!

6 B y mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil.

Провина викуплюється через милість та правду, і страх Господній відводить від злого.

7 W hen a man's ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Як дороги людини Господь уподобає, то й її ворогів Він замирює з нею.

8 B etter is a little, with righteousness, Than great revenues with injustice.

Ліпше мале справедливе, аніж великі прибутки з безправ'я.

9 A man's heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps.

Розум людини обдумує путь її, але кроки її наставляє Господь.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; His mouth shall not transgress in judgment.

Вирішальне слово в царя на губах, тому в суді уста його не спроневіряться.

11 A just balance and scales are Jehovah's; All the weights of the bag are his work.

Вага й шальки правдиві від Господа, все каміння вагове в торбинці то діло Його.

12 I t is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness.

Чинити безбожне огида царям, бо трон зміцнюється справедливістю.

13 R ighteous lips are the delight of kings; And they love him that speaketh right.

Уподоба царям губи праведности, і він любить того, хто правдиве говорить.

14 T he wrath of a king is as messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it.

Гнів царя вісник смерти, та мудра людина злагіднить його.

15 I n the light of the king's countenance is life; And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.

У світлі царського обличчя життя, а його уподоба мов хмара дощева весною.

16 H ow much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

Набування премудрости як же це ліпше від золота, набування ж розуму добірніше від срібла!

17 T he highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

Путь справедливих ухилятись від зла; хто дорогу свою береже, той душу свою охоронює.

18 P ride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Перед загибіллю гордість буває, а перед упадком бундючність.

19 B etter it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Ліпше бути покірливим із лагідними, ніж здобич ділити з бундючними.

20 H e that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.

Хто вважає на слово, той знайде добро, хто ж надію складає на Господа буде блаженний.

21 T he wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

Мудросердого кличуть розумний, а солодощ уст прибавляє науки.

22 U nderstanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it; But the correction of fools is their folly.

Розум джерело життя власникові його, а картання безумних глупота.

23 T he heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips.

Серце мудрого чинить розумними уста його, і на уста його прибавляє навчання.

24 P leasant words are as a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Приємні слова щільниковий то мед, солодкий душі й лік на кості.

25 T here is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.

Буває, дорога людині здається простою, та кінець її стежка до смерти.

26 T he appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him thereto.

Людина трудяща працює для себе, бо до того примушує рот її.

27 A worthless man deviseth mischief; And in his lips there is as a scorching fire.

Нікчемна людина копає лихе, а на устах її як палючий огонь.

28 A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Лукава людина сварки розсіває, а обмовник розділює друзів.

29 A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him in a way that is not good.

Насильник підмовлює друга свого, і провадить його по недобрій дорозі.

30 H e that shutteth his eyes, it is to devise perverse things: He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass.

Хто прижмурює очі свої, той крутійства видумує, хто губами знаки подає, той виконує зло.

31 T he hoary head is a crown of glory; It shall be found in the way of righteousness.

Сивизна то пишна корона, знаходять її на дорозі праведности.

32 H e that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.

Ліпший від силача, хто не скорий до гніву, хто ж панує над собою самим, ліпший від завойовника міста.

33 T he lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah.

За пазуху жереб вкладається, та ввесь його вирок від Господа.
