1 F or as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

А про службу святим мені зайво писати до вас,

2 f or I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and your zeal hath stirred up very many of them.

бо відаю вашу охоту, і нею хвалюся за вас македонянам, що Ахая готова з минулого року, а ваша ревність заохотила багатьох.

3 B ut I have sent the brethren, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, ye may be prepared:

А я послав братів, щоб моя похвала, щодо вас, не даремна була в цім випадкові, але, як казав, щоб були ви приготовані,

4 l est by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be put to shame in this confidence.

щоб, коли македоняни прийдуть зо мною та знайдуть, що ви неготові, щоб не осоромитись нам не кажемо вам у цій речі.

5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty, and not of extortion.

Отож, я надумався, що треба вблагати братів, щоб пішли перше до вас та приготували заздалегідь оголошений ваш щедрий дар, щоб був він приготований, як щедрий дар, а не річ примусова.

6 B ut this I say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

А до цього кажу: Хто скупо сіє, той скупо й жатиме, а хто сіє щедро, той щедро й жатиме!

7 L et each man do according as he hath purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Нехай кожен дає, як серце йому призволяє, не в смутку й не з примусу, бо Бог любить того, хто з радістю дає!

8 A nd God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work:

А Бог має силу всякою благодаттю вас збагатити, щоб ви, мавши завжди в усьому всілякий достаток, збагачувалися всяким добрим учинком,

9 a s it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever.

як написано: Розсипав та вбогим роздав, Його справедливість триває навіки!

10 A nd he that supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:

А Той, Хто насіння дає сіячеві та хліб на поживу, нехай дасть і примножить ваше насіння, і нехай Він зростить плоди праведности вашої,

11 y e being enriched in everything unto all liberality, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God.

щоб усім ви збагачувались на всіляку щирість, яка через нас чинить Богові дяку.

12 F or the ministration of this service not only filleth up the measure of the wants of the saints, but aboundeth also through many thanksgivings unto God;

Бо діло служіння цього не тільки виповнює недостачі святих, але й багатіє багатьма подяками Богові.

13 s eeing that through the proving of you by this ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution unto them and unto all;

Досвідченням цього служіння вони хвалять Бога за послух Христовій Євангелії, що ви визнаєте її, та за щирість учасництва з ними й усіма,

14 w hile they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, long after you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.

вони за вас моляться й тужать по вас із-за дуже великої Божої благодаті на вас.

15 T hanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

Дяка Богові за невимовний дар Його!
