1 A nd it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard thereof, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

І сталося, як почув це хацорський цар Явін, то послав до мадонського царя Йовава, і до царя шімронського, і до царя ахшафського,

2 a nd to the kings that were on the north, in the hill-country, and in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

і до царів, що з півночі на горі та в степу на південь Кінроту, і в Шефелі, і на верхах Дори з заходу,

3 t o the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

ханаанеянин зо сходу та з заходу, а амореянин, і хіттеянин, і періззеянин, і євусеянин, а хіввеянин під Гермоном, у краї Міцпи.

4 A nd they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

І вийшли вони та всі їхні табори з ними, народ, численний кількістю, як пісок, що на березі моря, і коней та колесниць дуже багато.

5 A nd all these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

І змовилися всі ці царі, і прийшли й таборували разом при озері Мером, щоб воювати з Ізраїлем.

6 A nd Jehovah said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to-morrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hock their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

І сказав Господь до Ісуса: Не бійся їх, бо взавтра коло цього часу Я покладу їх усіх трупами перед Ізраїлем; їхнім коням попідрізуєш жили ніг, а їхні колесниці попалиш в огні.

7 S o Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.

І вийшов на них зненацька Ісус та всі вояки з ним при озері Мером, та й напали на них.

8 A nd Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

І дав їх Господь в Ізраїлеву руку, і вони повбивали їх, і гнали їх аж до Великого Сидону, і аж до Місрефот-Маїму, і аж до долини Міцпи на схід, і повибивали їх, так що не зоставили їм жодного врятованого.

9 A nd Joshua did unto them as Jehovah bade him: he hocked their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

І зробив їм Ісус, як сказав йому Господь: їхнім коням попідрізував жили, а їхні колесниці попалив ув огні.

10 A nd Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

І вернувся Ісус того часу, і здобув Хацор, а його царя вбив мечем, бо Хацор перед тим був головою всіх тих царств.

11 A nd they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them; there was none left that breathed: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

І вони повбивали вістрям меча кожну особу, що в ньому, зробили їх закляттям, не позосталася жодна душа, а Хацора спалив огнем.

12 A nd all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded.

А всі царські міста та всіх їхніх царів Ісус здобув, та й повбивав їх вістрям меча, зробив їх закляттям, як наказав був Мойсей, раб Господній.

13 B ut as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

Тільки всі міста, що стоять на згір'ях своїх, не спалив їх Ізраїль, крім Хацору, одного його спалив Ісус.

14 A nd all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any that breathed.

А всю здобич тих міст та худобу Ізраїлеві сини забрали собі; тільки кожну людину побили вістрям меча, аж поки вони не вигубили їх, не позоставили жодної душі.

15 A s Jehovah commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua: and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that Jehovah commanded Moses.

Як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві, Своєму рабові, так Мойсей наказав Ісусові, і так зробив Ісус, не занехав ані слова зо всього, що Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.

16 S o Joshua took all that land, the hill-country, and all the South, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the Arabah, and the hill-country of Israel, and the lowland of the same;

І взяв Ісус ввесь той Край: гори Юди і ввесь Неґев, і ввесь ґошенський край, і Шефелу, і Араву, і гори Ізраїлеві, і їхню надморську низину,

17 f rom mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and put them to death.

від гори Халак, що тягнеться до Сеїру, і аж до Баал-Ґаду в ливанській долині під горою Гермон. А всіх їхніх царів він забрав, і бив їх, і повбивав їх.

18 J oshua made war a long time with all those kings.

Довгий час провадив Ісус війну зо всіма тими царями.

19 T here was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: they took all in battle.

Не було міста, що склало б мир з Ізраїлевими синами, окрім хіввеянина, ґів'онських мешканців, усе взяли війною.

20 F or it was of Jehovah to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Бо від Господа було, щоб зробити запеклим їхнє серце на війну проти Ізраїля, щоб учинити їх закляттям, щоб не було для них милости, але щоб вигубити їх, як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.

21 A nd Joshua came at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill-country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill-country of Judah, and from all the hill-country of Israel: Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

І прийшов Ісус того часу, і вигубив велетнів із гори, з Хеврону, з Девіру, з Анаву, і з усіх Юдських гір, і з усіх Ізраїлевих гір, разом з їхніми містами Ісус зробив їх закляттям.

22 T here was none of the Anakim left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.

Не позоставив велетня в краї Ізраїлевих синів, вони позостали тільки в Аззі, в Ґаті та в Ашдоді.

23 S o Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Jehovah spake unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land had rest from war.

І взяв Ісус увесь Край, усе так, як говорив був Господь до Мойсея. І Ісус дав його Ізраїлеві на спадок, за їхнім поділом на їхні племена. А Край заспокоївся від війни.
