1 D o ye indeed in silence speak righteousness? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Для дириґетна хору. На спів: „Не вигуби". Золотий псалом Давидів. (58-2) Чи ж то справді ви, можні, говорите правду, чи людських синів слушно судите?

2 N ay, in heart ye work wickedness; Ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

(58-3) Отже, у серці ви чините кривди, дорогу насильства рук ваших торуєте ви на землі.

3 T he wicked are estranged from the womb: They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

(58-4) Від лоня ще матернього вже віддалені несправедливі, з утроби ще матерньої заблудилися неправдомовці,

4 T heir poison is like the poison of a serpent: They are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear,

(58-5) їхня отрута така, як отрута зміїна, як отрута глухої гадюки, що ухо своє затуляє,

5 W hich hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, Charming never so wisely.

(58-6) що не слухає голосу заклиначів, чарівника, в чарах вправного!

6 B reak their teeth, O God, in their mouth: Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.

(58-7) Поруйнуй, Боже, зуби їхні в їхніх устах, левчукам розбий, Господи, щелепи,

7 L et them melt away as water that runneth apace: When he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.

(58-8) нехай розпливуться, немов та вода, що собі розтікається, хай пов'януть вони, як трава по дорозі,

8 L et them be as a snail which melteth and passeth away, Like the untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun.

(58-9) бодай стали, немов той слимак, що в своїй слизоті розпускається, щоб сонця не бачили, як мертвий отой плід у жінки!

9 B efore your pots can feel the thorns, He will take them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.

(58-10) Поки почують тернину запалену ваші горшки, нехай буря її рознесе, чи свіжу, чи спалену!

10 T he righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;

(58-11) А праведний тішитись буде, бо помсту побачить, у крові безбожного стопи свої він обмиє!

11 S o that men shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.

(58-12) і скаже людина: Поправді є плід справедливому, справді є Бог, суддя на землі!
