1 A nd Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

І зібрав Ісус усі Ізраїлеві племена до Сихему, і покликав Ізраїлевих старших, і голів його, і суддів його, і урядників його, і поставали вони перед Божим лицем.

2 A nd Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.

І сказав Ісус до всього народу: Так сказав Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: По тім боці Річки сиділи були ваші батьки від віків: Терах, батько Авраамів та батько Нахорів, і служили іншим богам.

3 A nd I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

І взяв Я вашого батька Авраама з того боку Річки, і водив його по всьому ханаанському Краї, і розмножив насіння його, і дав йому Ісака.

4 A nd I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it: and Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

І дав Я Ісакові Якова та Ісава, і дав Ісавові гору Сеїр, щоб її посів, а Яків та сини його зійшли до Єгипту.

5 A nd I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in the midst thereof: and afterward I brought you out.

І послав Я Мойсея та Аарона, та й ударив Єгипет, як зробив Я серед нього, а потому Я вивів вас.

6 A nd I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen unto the Red Sea.

І вивів Я ваших батьків із Єгипту, і ввійшли ви до моря, а Єгипет гнався за вашими батьками колесницями та верхівцями до Червоного моря.

7 A nd when they cried out unto Jehovah, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness many days.

І кликали вони до Господа, і Він поклав темряву між вами та між Єгиптянином, і навів на нього море, і воно покрило його, і ваші очі бачили те, що зробив Я в Єгипті. І сиділи ви в пустині багато днів.

8 A nd I brought you into the land of the Amorites, that dwelt beyond the Jordan: and they fought with you; and I gave them into your hand, and ye possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

І ввів я вас до краю амореян, що сидять по тім боці Йордану, і вони воювали з вами, а Я дав їх у вашу руку. І ви посіли їхній край, і Я вигубив їх перед вами.

9 T hen Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel: and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you;

І встав був Балак, син Ціппорів, цар моавський, і воював з Ізраїлем. І він послав і покликав Валаама, Беорового сина, щоб проклясти вас.

10 b ut I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

Та не хотів Я слухати Валаама, і він, благословляючи, поблагословив вас, і Я врятував вас від його руки.

11 A nd ye went over the Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.

І перейшли ви Йордан, і прийшли до Єрихону. І воювали з вами господарі Єрихону: періззеянин, і ханаанеянин, і хіттеянин, і ґірґашеянин, і хіввеянин, і євусеянин, а Я дав їх у вашу руку.

12 A nd I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

І послав Я перед вами шершня, і він вигнав їх перед вами, двох царів аморейських, не мечем твоїм і не луком твоїм.

13 A nd I gave you a land whereon thou hadst not labored, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell therein; of vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

І дав Я вам Край, що над ним ти не трудився, і міста, що їх ви не будували, і ви осілися в них; виноградники та оливки, яких ви не садили, ви їли.

14 N ow therefore fear Jehovah, and serve him in sincerity and in truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye Jehovah.

А тепер бійтеся Господа й служіть Йому в невинності та в правді, і повідкидайте богів, яким служили ваші батьки на тому боці Річки та в Єгипті, та й служіть Господеві.

15 A nd if it seem evil unto you to serve Jehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

А якщо зле в очах ваших служити Господеві, виберіть собі сьогодні, кому будете служити, чи богам, яким служили ваші батьки, що по тому боці Річки, та чи богам аморейським, що ви сидите в їхньому краї. А я та дім мій будемо служити Господеві.

16 A nd the people answered and said, Far be it from us that we should forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;

І відповів народ та й сказав: Борони, нас Боже, покинути Господа, щоб служити іншим богам!

17 f or Jehovah our God, he it is that brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and that did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed;

Бо Господь, Бог наш, Він Той, що вивів нас та наших батьків з єгипетського краю, з дому рабства, і що зробив на наших очах ті великі знамена, і стеріг нас на всій дорозі, що нею ми ходили, і по всіх народах, що ми перейшли серед них.

18 a nd Jehovah drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites that dwelt in the land: therefore we also will serve Jehovah; for he is our God.

І повиганяв Господь усі народи та амореянина, мешканця цього Краю, перед нами. І ми будемо служити Господеві, бо Він Бог наш.

19 A nd Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve Jehovah; for he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgression nor your sins.

І сказав Ісус до народу: Ви не здолієте служити Господеві, бо Він Бог святий, Бог заздрісний Він. Не простить Він вашу провину та ваших гріхів.

20 I f ye forsake Jehovah, and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

Коли ви покинете Господа, і будете служити чужим богам, то Він вернеться, і зробить вам зло, і вигубить вас по тому, як робив був добро вам.

21 A nd the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve Jehovah.

І сказав народ до Ісуса: Ні, таки Господеві будемо служити!

22 A nd Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you Jehovah, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

І сказав Ісус до народу: Ви свідки на себе, що ви вибрали Господа служити Йому. І сказали вони: Свідки!

23 N ow therefore put away, said he, the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.

А тепер покиньте чужих богів, що серед вас, і прихиліть своє серце до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого.

24 A nd the people said unto Joshua, Jehovah our God will we serve, and unto his voice will we hearken.

І сказав народ до Ісуса: Господеві, Богові нашому, ми будемо служити, а голосу Його будемо слухатися!

25 S o Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

І склав Ісус заповіта з народом того дня, і дав йому постанови та закони в Сихемі.

26 A nd Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of Jehovah.

І написав Ісус ті слова в книзі Божого Закону, і взяв великого каменя, та й поставив його там під тим дубом, що в Господній святині.

27 A nd Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us; for it hath heard all the words of Jehovah which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness against you, lest ye deny your God.

І сказав Ісус до всього народу: Ось оцей камінь буде на нас на свідчення, бо він чув усі Господні слова, що Він говорив з нами. І він буде на вас за свідка, щоб ви не виреклися вашого Бога.

28 S o Joshua sent the people away, every man unto his inheritance.

І відпустив Ісус народ, кожного до спадку його.

29 A nd it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, died, being a hundred and ten years old.

І сталося по тих випадках, і вмер Ісус, син Навинів, раб Господній, віку ста й десяти літ.

30 A nd they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

І поховали його в границі спадку його, у Тімнат-Серахові, що в Єфремових горах, на північ від гори Ґааш.

31 A nd Israel served Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, and had known all the work of Jehovah, that he had wrought for Israel.

І служив Ізраїль Господеві по всі дні Ісуса та по всі дні старших, що продовжили дні свої по Ісусі, і що знали всякий чин Господній, що зробив Він Ізраїлеві.

32 A nd the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in the parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money: and they became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

А Йосипові кості, які Ізраїлеві сини винесли були з Єгипту, поховали в Сихемі, на ділянці поля, що купив був Яків від синів Гамора, Сихемового батька, за сто кеситів.

33 A nd Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given him in the hill-country of Ephraim.

І Елеазар, син Ааронів, умер, і поховали його на верхів'ї Пінхаса, його сина, яке було йому дане на Єфремовій горі.
