1 T hen all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

І зібрався ввесь Ізраїль до Давида в Хеврон, говорячи: Оце ми кість твоя та тіло твоє!

2 I n times past, even when Saul was king, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over my people Israel.

І давніш, коли Саул був царем, ти водив та приводив Ізраїля на війну. І сказав Господь, Бог твій, тобі: Ти будеш пасти народа Мого, Ізраїля, і ти будеш князем над народом Моїм, Ізраїлем.

3 S o all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by Samuel.

І прийшли всі Ізраїлеві старші в Хеврон, а Давид склав із ними умову в Хевроні перед Господнім лицем. І помазали вони Давида царем над Ізраїлем, за Господнім словом через Самуїла.

4 A nd David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

І пішов Давид та ввесь Ізраїль до Єрусалиму, він Євус, і там були євусеяни, мешканці того краю.

5 A nd the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

І сказали мешканці Євусу до Давида: Ти не ввійдеш сюди! Та здобув Давид твердиню Сіон, він Місто Давида.

6 A nd David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

І сказав Давид: Кожен, хто найперше поб'є євусеянина, той стане за голову та за зверхника. І ввійшов найперше Йоав, син Церуїн, і став за голову.

7 A nd David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.

І осівся Давид у твердині, тому назвав ім'я їй: Давидове Місто.

8 A nd he built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

І він збудував місто навколо, від Мілло й аж навколо, а Йоав відновив решту міста.

9 A nd David waxed greater and greater; for Jehovah of hosts was with him.

І Давид ставав усе більшим, а Господь Саваот був із ним.

10 N ow these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.

А оце голови Давидових лицарів, що хоробро трудилися з ним у його царстві, з усім Ізраїлем, щоб настановити його царем, за Господнім словом, над Ізраїлем.

11 A nd this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them at one time.

А оце число Давидових лицарів: Яшов'ам, син Гахмоні, голова тридцяти, він махнув своїм списом і побив за один раз три сотні!

12 A nd after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

А за ним Елеазар, син Додо, ахох'янин, він один із трьох лицарів.

13 H e was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

Він був із Давидом у Пас-Дамімі, а филистимляни зібралися там на бій. І була там ділянка поля, повна ячменю, а народ утікав перед филистимлянами.

14 A nd they stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah saved them by a great victory.

Та вони стали посеред ділянки, і врятували її та й побили филистимлян. І Господь подав велику перемогу!

15 A nd three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

І зійшли троє з тих тридцяти на переді на скелю до Давида, до печери Адуллам. А филистимський табір таборував у долині Рефаїм.

16 A nd David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

Давид же був тоді в твердині, а филистимська залога була тоді в Віфлеємі.

17 A nd David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

І спрагнув Давид та й сказав: Хто напоїть мене водою з віфлеємської криниці, що в брамі?

18 A nd the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah,

І продерлися ці троє до филистимського табору, і зачерпнули води з віфлеємської криниці, що в брамі. І вони винесли й принесли до Давида, та Давид не схотів її пити, і вилив її для Господа,

19 a nd said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

та й сказав: Борони мене, Боже мій, чинити таке! Чи я буду пити кров цих мужів, що ходили, наражаючи життя своє? Бо життям своїм вони принесли її! І не хотів він пити її. Оце зробили троє цих лицарів.

20 A nd Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.

А Авшай, Йоавів брат, він голова тих трьох. І він махнув своїм списом і побив три сотні! І він мав найславніше ім'я серед трьох.

21 O f the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.

З тих трьох серед двох він був найшановніший, і став їм за провідника. А до тих трьох не досяг.

22 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he slew the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

Беная, син Єгоядин, син хороброго мужа, великий у ділах, з Кавцеїлу, він побив двох синів Аріїла моавського. І він зійшов і забив лева в середині ями сніжного дня.

23 A nd he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

І він побив одного єгиптянина, мужа поставного, на п'ять ліктів, а в руці єгиптянина був спис, як ткацький вал. І зійшов він до нього з києм, і вирвав списа з руки того єгиптянина, та й його забив його списом.

24 T hese things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.

Оце зробив Беная, син Єгоядин, і його ім'я було серед тих трьох хоробрих.

25 B ehold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

З тих тридцяти він був найповажніший, а до тих трьох не досяг. І Давид призначив його до своєї прибічної сторожі.

26 A lso the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

А хоробрі мужі були ці: Асаїл, Йоавів брат, Елханан, син Додо, із Віфлеєму,

27 S hammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

гарор'янин Шаммот, пелонянин Хелес,

28 I ra the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

Іра, син Іккешів, текоянин, антотянин Авіезер,

29 S ibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

хушатянин Сіббехай, ахох'янин Ілай,

30 M aharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,

нетофатянин Магарай, Хелед, син Баанин, нетофатянин,

31 I thai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

Ітай, син Ріваїв, з Ґів'ї Веніяминової, пір'атонянин Беная,

32 H urai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

Хурай з Нахале-Ґаашу, арв'янин Авіїл,

33 A zmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

бахарум'янин Азмавет, шаалвонянин Ел'яхба,

34 t he sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

сини ґізонянина Гашема, Йонатан, син Шаґе, гарар'янин,

35 A hiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,

Ахійям, син Сахарів, гарар'янин, Еліфал, син Урів,

36 H epher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

37 H ezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

38 J oel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,

39 Z elek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armorbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

41 U riah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,

42 A dina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,

Адіна, син Шізин, Рувимівець, голова Рувимівців і над тридцятьма,

43 H anan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,

Ханан, син Маахин, і мітнянин Йосафат,

44 U zzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

аштерянин Уззійя, Шама, і Еуїл, сини ароерянина Хотама,

45 J ediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,

Єдіаїл, син Шімрі, і Йоха, його брат, тіцянин,

46 E liel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,

махав'янин Еліїл, і Єрівай, і Йошав'я, сини Ел'наамові, і моавітянин Їтма,

47 E liel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
