1 T herefore, my brethren, whom I love and yearn to see, my delight and crown (wreath of victory), thus stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.

2 I entreat and advise Euodia and I entreat and advise Syntyche to agree and to work in harmony in the Lord.

Esorto Evodia ed esorto ugualmente Sintiche ad avere una sola mente nel Signore.

3 A nd I exhort you too, genuine yokefellow, help these, for they have toiled along with me in the good news (the Gospel), as have Clement and the rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the Book of Life.

Prego anche te, vero compagno, sovvieni a queste donne, le quali hanno combattuto con me nell'evangelo, insieme con Clemente e gli altri miei compagni d'opera, i cui nomi sono nel libro della vita.

4 R ejoice in the Lord always; again I say, Rejoice!

Rallegratevi del continuo nel Signore lo ripeto ancora: Rallegratevi.

5 L et all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near '> coming soon].

La vostra mansuetudine sia nota a tutti gli uomini; il Signore è vicino.

6 D o not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ( definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Non siate in ansietà per cosa alcuna, ma in ogni cosa le vostre richieste siano rese note a Dio mediante preghiera e supplica, con ringraziamento.

7 A nd God’s peace '> tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

E la pace di Dio, che sopravanza ogni intelligenza, custodirà i vostri cuori e le vostre menti in Cristo Gesú.

8 F or the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things.

Quanto al rimanente, fratelli, tutte le cose che sono veraci, tutte le cose che sono oneste, tutte le cose che sono giuste, tutte le cose che sono pure, tutte le cose che sono amabili, tutte le cose che sono di buona fama, se vi è qualche virtú e se vi è qualche lode, pensate a queste cose.

9 P ractice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.

Quelle cose che avete imparato, ricevuto e udito da me e veduto in me, fatele, e il Dio della pace sarà con voi.

10 I was made very happy in the Lord that now you have revived your interest in my welfare after so long a time; you were indeed thinking of me, but you had no opportunity to show it.

Or mi sono grandemente rallegrato nel Signore, perché finalmente le vostre cure per me si sono ravvivate; in realtà già ci pensavate, ma ve ne mancava l'opportunità.

11 N ot that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.

Non lo dico perché sia nel bisogno, poiché ho imparato ad essere contento nello stato in cui mi trovo.

12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.

So essere abbassato, come anche vivere nell'abbondanza; in tutto e per tutto ho imparato ad essere sazio e ad aver fame, ad abbondare e a soffrire penuria.

13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me '> infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Io posso ogni cosa in Cristo che mi fortifica.

14 B ut it was right and commendable and noble of you to contribute for my needs and to share my difficulties with me.

Tuttavia avete fatto bene a prendere parte alla mia afflizione.

15 A nd you Philippians yourselves well know that in the early days of the Gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church (assembly) entered into partnership with me and opened up account in giving and receiving except you only.

Or sapete anche voi, Filippesi, che all'inizio della predicazione dell'evangelo, quando partii dalla Macedonia, nessuna chiesa mi fece parte di alcuna cosa, per quanto al dare e al ricevere, se non voi soli

16 F or even in Thessalonica you sent for my needs, not only once but a second time.

poiché anche a Tessalonica mi avete mandato, non solo una volta ma due, di che provvedere al mio bisogno.

17 N ot that I seek or am eager for gift, but I do seek and am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit.

Non già che io ricerchi i doni, ricerco invece il frutto che abbondi a vostro favore.

18 B ut I have and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights.

Adesso ho ricevuto tutto ed abbondo, sono ricolmo, avendo ricevuto da Epafrodito ciò che mi è stato mandato da voi, che è un profumo di odor soave, un sacrificio accettevole, piacevole a Dio.

19 A nd my God will liberally supply ( fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Ora il mio Dio supplirà ad ogni vostro bisogno secondo le sue ricchezze in gloria, in Cristo Gesú.

20 T o our God and Father be glory forever and ever (through the endless eternities of the eternities). Amen (so be it).

Ora al mio Dio e Padre nostro sia la gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.

21 R emember me to every saint (every born-again believer) in Christ Jesus. The brethren (my associates) who are with me greet you.

22 A ll the saints (God’s consecrated ones here) wish to be remembered to you, especially those of Caesar’s household.

I fratelli che sono con me vi salutano, tutti i santi vi salutano, e soprattutto quelli della casa di Cesare.

23 T he grace (spiritual favor and blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One) be with your spirit. Amen (so be it).
