1 A nd the Lord said to Moses,

L'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:

2 M ake two trumpets of silver; of hammered or turned work you shall make them, that you may use them to call the congregation and for breaking camp.

«Fatti due trombe d'argento; le farai d'argento battuto; le userai per convocare l'assemblea e per far muovere gli accampamenti.

3 W hen they both are blown, all the congregation shall assemble before you at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

Al suono di entrambe tutta l'assemblea si radunerà presso di te, all'ingresso della tenda di convegno.

4 A nd if one blast on a single trumpet is blown, then the princes or leaders, heads of the tribes of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.

Al suono di una sola tromba, i principi, i capi delle divisioni d'Israele si raduneranno presso di te.

5 W hen you blow an alarm, the camps on the east side shall set out.

Quando suonerete l'allarme la prima volta, i campi che sono a est si metteranno in cammino.

6 W hen you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps on the south side shall set out. An alarm shall be blown whenever they are to set out on their journeys.

Quando suonerete l'allarme una seconda volta, i campi che si trovano a sud si metteranno in cammino; si dovrà suonare l'allarme perché si mettano in cammino.

7 W hen the congregation is to be assembled, you shall blow, but not the blast of an alarm.

Quando si deve radunare l'assemblea suonerete la tromba, ma non suonerete l'allarme.

8 A nd the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets, and the trumpets shall be to you for a perpetual statute throughout your generations.

Suoneranno le trombe i figli di Aaronne, i sacerdoti, sarà uno statuto perpetuo per voi e per i vostri discendenti.

9 W hen you go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresses you, then blow an alarm with the trumpets, that you may be remembered before the Lord your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies.

Quando nel vostro paese andrete alla guerra contro il nemico che vi opprime suonerete l'allarme con le trombe; così sarete ricordati davanti all'Eterno, il vostro DIO, e sarete liberati dai vostri nemici.

10 A lso in the day of rejoicing, and in your set feasts, and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and your peace offerings; thus they may be a remembrance before your God. I am the Lord your God.

Così pure nei vostri giorni di gioia, nelle vostre feste stabilite e al principio dei vostri mesi, suonerete le trombe in occasione dei vostri olocausti e dei vostri sacrifici di ringraziamento; ed esse vi faranno ricordare davanti al vostro DIO. lo sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO».

11 O n the twentieth day of the second month in the second year, the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the Testimony,

Or avvenne che nel secondo anno, nel secondo mese, il ventesimo giorno del mese, la nuvola si alzò sopra il tabernacolo della testimonianza.

12 A nd the Israelites took their journey by stages out of the Wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the Wilderness of Paran.

E i figli d'Israele si misero in cammino, abbandonando il deserto del Sinai; poi la nuvola si fermò ne deserto di Paran.

13 W hen the journey was to begin, at the command of the Lord through Moses,

Così si misero in cammino la prima volta, secondo l'ordine dell'Eterno dato per mezzo di Mosè.

14 I n the first place went the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah by their companies; and over their host was Nahshon son of Amminadab.

Per prima si mosse la bandiera del campo dei figli di Giuda, diviso secondo le loro schiere. Sopra la divisione di Giuda comandava Nahshon, figlio di Amminadab.

15 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Issachar was Nethanel son of Zuar.

Nethaneel, figlio di Tsuar, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli d'Issacar,

16 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun was Eliab son of Helon.

mentre Eliab, figlio di Helon comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Zabulon.

17 W hen the tabernacle was taken down, the sons of Gershon and Merari, bearing on their shoulders, set out.

Poi fu smontato il tabernacolo e i figli di Ghershon e i figli di Merari si misero in cammino, portando il tabernacolo.

18 T he standard of the camp of Reuben set forward by their companies; and over Reuben’s host was Elizur son of Shedeur.

Si mosse quindi la bandiera del campo di Ruben, diviso secondo le sue schiere. Sopra la divisione di Ruben comandava Elitsur, figlio di Scedeur.

19 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Simeon was Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.

Scelumiel, figlio di Tsurishaddai, comandava la divisione della tribù dei figli di Simeone,

20 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Gad was Eliasaph son of Deuel.

21 T hen the Kohathites set forward, bearing the holy things, and the tabernacle was set up before they arrived.

Poi si mossero i Kehathiti, portando gli oggetti sacri; avrebbero eretto il tabernacolo prima del loro arrivo.

22 A nd the standard of the camp of the sons of Ephraim set forward according to their companies; and over Ephraim’s host was Elishama son of Ammihud.

Si mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Efraim, diviso secondo le sue schiere. Sopra la divisione di Efraim comandava Elishama, figlio di Ammihud.

23 O ver the host of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh was Gamaliel son of Pedahzur.

Gamaliel, figlio di Pedahtsur, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Manasse,

24 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin was Abidan son of Gideoni.

mentre Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Beniamino.

25 T hen the standard of the camp of the sons of Dan, which was the rear guard of all the camps, set forward according to their companies; and over Dan’s host was Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.

Si mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Dan, diviso secondo le sue schiere, formando la retroguardia di tutti i campi. Sopra la divisione di Dan comandava Ahiezer, figlio di Ammishaddai.

26 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Asher was Pagiel son of Ochran.

Paghiel, figlio di Okran, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Ascer,

27 A nd over the host of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Ahira son of Enan.

mentre Ahira, figlio di Enan, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Neftali.

28 T his was the Israelites’ order of march by their hosts when they set out.

Questo era l'ordine di marcia dei figli d'Israele, secondo le loro divisioni. Così si misero in cammino.

29 A nd Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the Lord said, I will give it to you. Come with us, and we will do you good, for the Lord has promised good concerning Israel.

Or Mosè disse a Hobab, figlio di Reuel il Madianita, suocero di Mosè: «Noi ci mettiamo in viaggio verso il luogo del quale l'Eterno ha detto: "Io ve lo darò". Vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perché l'Eterno ha promesso buone cose ad Israele».

30 A nd Hobab said to him, I will not go; I will depart to my own land and to my family.

Hobab gli rispose: «Io non verrò, ma ritornerò al mio paese e dai miei parenti».

31 A nd Moses said, Do not leave us, I pray you; for you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you will serve as eyes for us.

Allora Mosè disse: «Deh, non ci lasciare, poiché tu sai dove dobbiamo accamparci nel deserto e tu sarai come gli occhi per noi.

32 A nd if you will go with us, it shall be that whatever good the Lord does to us, the same we will do to you.

Se vieni con noi, qualunque bene l'Eterno farà a noi, noi lo faremo a te».

33 T hey departed from the mountain of the Lord three days’ journey; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them during the three days’ journey to seek out a resting-place for them.

Così partirono dal monte dell'Eterno e fecero tre giorni di cammino; e l'arca del patto dell'Eterno andò davanti a loro per un cammino di tre giorni, per cercare un luogo di riposo per loro.

34 T he cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they went forward from the camp.

E la nuvola dell'Eterno era sopra di loro durante il giorno, quando partivano dall'accampamento.

35 W henever the ark set out, Moses said, Rise up, Lord; let Your enemies be scattered; and let those who hate You flee before You.

Quando l'arca partiva, Mosè diceva: «Levati, o Eterno, siano dispersi i tuoi nemici e fuggano davanti a te quelli che ti odiano!».

36 A nd when it rested, he said, Return, O Lord, to the ten thousand thousands in Israel.

E quando si fermava, diceva: «Torna, o Eterno, alle miriadi di migliaia d'Israele!».
