1 H ear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, and in Your righteousness.

«Salmo di Davide.» Ascolta la mia preghiera, o Eterno, porgi orecchio alle mie suppliche; nella tua fedeltà e nella tua giustizia rispondimi.

2 A nd enter not into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no man living is righteous or justified.

E non entrare in giudizio col tuo servo, perché nessun vivente sarà trovato giusto davanti a te.

3 F or the enemy has pursued and persecuted my soul, he has crushed my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in dark places as those who have been long dead.

Poiché il nemico mi perseguita, egli ha prostrato fino a terra la mia vita; mi fa abitare in luoghi tenebrosi, come quelli che sono morti già da lungo tempo.

4 T herefore is my spirit overwhelmed and faints within me; my heart within my bosom grows numb.

Perciò il mio spirito viene meno dentro di me, e il mio cuore è tutto smarrito dentro di me.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your doings; I ponder the work of Your hands.

Ricordo i giorni antichi; medito su tutte le tue opere; rifletto su ciò che le tue mani hanno fatto.

6 I spread forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts after You like a thirsty land. Selah!

Protendo le mie mani verso di te, la mia anima è assetata di te, come una terra arida. (Sela)

7 A nswer me speedily, O Lord, for my spirit fails; hide not Your face from me, lest I become like those who go down into the pit (the grave).

Affrettati a rispondermi, o Eterno, lo spirito mio viene meno; non nascondermi il tuo volto, perché non divenga simile a quelli che scendono nella fossa.

8 C ause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.

Fammi sentire la tua benignità al mattino, perché io confido in te; fammi conoscere la via per la quale devo camminare, perché io elevo la mia anima a te.

9 D eliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; I flee to You to hide me.

Liberami dai miei nemici, o Eterno, in te mi nascondo.

10 T each me to do Your will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me into a level country and into the land of uprightness.

Insegnami a fare la tua volontà, perché tu sei il mio DIO; il tuo buon Spirito mi guidi in terra piana.

11 S ave my life, O Lord, for Your name’s sake; in Your righteousness, bring my life out of trouble and free me from distress.

Vivificami, o Eterno, per amore del tuo nome; nella tua giustizia tirami fuori dall'avversità.

12 A nd in your mercy and loving-kindness, cut off my enemies and destroy all those who afflict my inner self, for I am Your servant.

Nella tua benignità distruggi i miei nemici e fa' perire tutti quelli che affliggono l'anima mia, perché io sono il tuo servo.
