1 A nd Jesus, getting into a boat, crossed to the other side and came to His own town.

Ed egli, salito sulla barca, passò all'altra riva e venne nella sua città.

2 A nd behold, they brought to Him a man paralyzed and prostrated by illness, lying on a sleeping pad; and when Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted.

Ed ecco, gli fu presentato un paralitico disteso sopra un letto e Gesú, vista la loro fede, disse al paralitico: «Figliolo, fatti animo, i tuoi peccati ti sono perdonati!».

3 A nd behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, This man blasphemes!

Allora alcuni scribi, dicevano fra sè: «Costui bestemmia!».

4 B ut Jesus, knowing ( seeing) their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil and harbor malice in your hearts?

Ma Gesú, conosciuti i loro pensieri, disse: «Perché pensate cose malvagie nei vostri cuori?

5 F or which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted, or to say, Get up and walk?

Infatti, che cosa è piú facile dire: "I tuoi peccati ti sono perdonati" oppure: "Alzati e cammina?"

6 B ut in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins and remit the penalty, He then said to the paralyzed man, Get up! Pick up your sleeping pad and go to your own house.

Ora, affinché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha autorità in terra di perdonare i peccati: Alzati (disse al paralitico), prendi il tuo letto e vattene a casa tua!».

7 A nd he got up and went away to his own house.

Ed egli, alzatosi, se ne andò a casa sua.

8 W hen the crowds saw it, they were struck with fear and awe; and they recognized God and praised and thanked Him, Who had given such power and authority to men.

Le folle, veduto ciò, si meravigliavano e glorificavano Dio, che aveva dato tale potere agli uomini.

9 A s Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, Be My disciple. And he rose and followed Him.

Poi Gesú, passando oltre, vide un uomo che sedeva al banco delle imposte, chiamato Matteo, e gli disse: «Seguimi!». Ed egli, alzatosi, lo seguí.

10 A nd as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat (reclined) with Him and His disciples.

E avvenne che, mentre Gesú era a tavola in casa, molti pubblicani e peccatori vennero e si misero a tavola con lui e con i suoi discepoli.

11 A nd when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, Why does your Master eat with tax collectors and those sinful?

I farisei, veduto ciò, dissero ai suoi discepoli: «Perché il vostro Maestro mangia insieme ai pubblicani, e ai peccatori?».

12 B ut when Jesus heard it, He replied, Those who are strong and well (healthy) have no need of a physician, but those who are weak and sick.

E Gesú, avendo sentito, disse loro: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma i malati.

13 G o and learn what this means: I desire mercy '> readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).

Or andate e imparate che cosa significa: "Io voglio misericordia e non sacrificio Perché io non sono venuto per chiamare a ravvedimento i giusti, ma i peccatori».

14 T hen the disciples of John came to Jesus, inquiring, Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast often,, but Your disciples do not fast?

Allora si accostarono a lui i discepoli di Giovanni, e gli dissero: «Perché noi e i farisei digiuniamo spesso, mentre i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?».

15 A nd Jesus replied to them, Can the wedding guests mourn while the bridegroom is still with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

E Gesú disse loro: «Possono gli amici dello sposo essere in lutto mentre lo sposo è con loro? Ma verranno i giorni in cui lo sposo sarà loro tolto e allora digiuneranno.

16 A nd no one puts a piece of cloth that has not been shrunk on an old garment, for such a patch tears away from the garment and a worse rent (tear) is made.

Nessuno mette un pezzo di stoffa nuova su di un abito vecchio, perché ciò porta via il rattoppo e lo strappo si fa peggiore.

17 N either is new wine put in old wineskins; for if it is, the skins burst and are torn in pieces, and the wine is spilled and the skins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.

Neppure si mette del vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti gli otri si rompono, il vino si spande e gli otri si perdono; ma si mette il vino nuovo in otri nuovi, cosí si conservano entrambi».

18 W hile He was talking this way to them, behold, a ruler entered and, kneeling down, worshiped Him, saying, My daughter has just now died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will come to life.

Mentre egli diceva loro queste cose, uno dei capi della sinagoga, si avvicinò e si inchinò davanti a lui, dicendo: «Mia figlia è morta proprio ora, ma vieni, metti la mano su di lei ed ella vivrà».

19 A nd Jesus got up and accompanied him, with His disciples.

E Gesú, alzatosi, lo seguí insieme ai suoi discepoli.

20 A nd behold, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment;

Ed ecco una donna, affetta da un flusso di sangue già da dodici anni, gli si accostò di dietro e toccò il lembo della sua veste.

21 F or she kept saying to herself, If I only touch His garment, I shall be restored to health.

Perché diceva fra sé: «Se riuscirò anche solo a toccare la sua veste sarò guarita».

22 J esus turned around and, seeing her, He said, Take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well. And at once the woman was restored to health.

Gesú, voltatosi e vedutala, le disse «Fatti animo, figliola, la tua fede ti ha guarita». Da quell'ora la donna fu guarita.

23 A nd when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making an uproar and din,

Quando Gesú arrivò in casa del capo della sinagoga e vide i sonatori di flauto e la folla che faceva strepito,

24 H e said, Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed and jeered at Him.

disse loro: «Ritiratevi, perché la fanciulla non è morta, ma dorme» Ed essi lo deridevano.

25 B ut when the crowd had been ordered to go outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

Poi, quando la folla fu messa fuori, egli entrò, prese la fanciulla per la mano ed ella si alzò.

26 A nd the news about this spread through all that district.

La fama di ciò si divulgò per tutto quel paese.

27 A s Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting loudly, Have pity and mercy on us, Son of David!

E, mentre Gesú partiva di là, due ciechi lo seguirono gridando e dicendo: «Abbi pietà di noi, Figlio di Davide!».

28 W hen He reached the house and went in, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.

Quando egli entrò in casa, quei ciechi si accostarono a lui. Gesú disse loro: «Credete che io possa far questo?». Essi gli risposero: «Sí, Signore».

29 T hen He touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith and trust and reliance be it done to you;

Allora egli toccò loro gli occhi dicendo: «Vi sia fatto secondo la vostra fede».

30 A nd their eyes were opened. And Jesus earnestly and sternly charged them, See that you let no one know about this.

E i loro occhi si aprirono. Poi Gesú ordinò loro severamente, dicendo: «Badate che nessuno lo sappia».

31 B ut they went off and blazed and spread His fame abroad throughout that whole district.

Ma essi, usciti fuori, divulgarono la sua fama per tutto quel paese.

32 A nd while they were going away, behold, a dumb man under the power of a demon was brought to Jesus.

Ora, come quei ciechi uscivano, gli fu presentato un uomo muto e indemoniato,

33 A nd when the demon was driven out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds were stunned with bewildered wonder, saying, Never before has anything like this been seen in Israel.

E, quando il demone fu scacciato, il muto parlò e le folle si meravigliarono dicendo: «Non si è mai vista una simile cosa in Israele».

34 B ut the Pharisees said, He drives out demons through and with the help of the prince of demons.

Ma i farisei dicevano: «Egli scaccia i demoni con l'aiuto del principe dei demoni!».

35 A nd Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom and curing all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity.

E Gesú andava attorno per tutte le città e i villaggi, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe, predicando l'evangelo del regno e guarendo ogni malattia e ogni infermità fra il popolo.

36 W hen He saw the throngs, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd.

Vedendo le folle, ne ebbe compassione perché erano stanche e disperse, come pecore senza pastore.

37 T hen He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.

Allora egli disse ai suoi discepoli: «La mèsse è veramente grande, ma gli operai sono pochi.

38 S o pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.

Pregate dunque il Signore della mèsse che spinga degli operai nella sua mèsse».
